Happy-Kite Posted December 30, 2013 Report Posted December 30, 2013 I would like to answer the questions of many family kiters and just families who are dreaming of a vacation with kids. I am confident to pronounce that there is no better place for vacationing or even long-term stay with kids than Dahab. It is really hard to find a better and more convenient one. First of all, it is fairly cheap and fast flight destination. But most importantly even to compare with Sharm el Sheikh, it is very safe in Dahab, children are large part of local community and security is not an issue here. Frequently visiting couples or even solo vacationing moms feel confident lettings their kid run along the beach, knowing that everything will be all right. There are many children here, as many families have been choosing Dahab as their winter get aways for years. There is also a whole troop of highly qualified babysitters, who will help to look after your child while you are attending a beach party or going on a kite safari or excursion. The babysitting fees are very affordable compared to European prices. Children just love it here, they run around together all day outdoors in fresh air, while their mom and dad take kiteboarding lessons. And as a result, kids fall asleep instantly by the end of the day without any additional suasions and 5 fairy tails to read))) So, visit us with your whole family as it is also very easy to rent a house for any term where you can cook the food that your children are used to. Besides the products are very good here, specially vegetables and fruit that are natural and delicious in Dahab. Year around there is excellent choice of fresh veggies and fruit at local markets and the prices are low compared to what you are used to. There are even private teachers who can keep your children busy or kids yoga or swimming lessons. You can suit your needs easily. mick Posted December 31, 2013 Report Posted December 31, 2013 Can you give us some info involving, accommodation, costs, transfers etc. ? Quote
Happy-Kite Posted January 6, 2014 Author Report Posted January 6, 2014 Hello Mick, first of all there are low budget easy jet flights available from Europe (London, Geneve and Milano) to Sharm-el-Sheikh in Egypt. If you book in advance you re looking at 40 EUR one way. From Sharm to Dahab we can help with airport pick up for 30 EUR for minivan (one way), regardless of number of passengers. Accommodation can be different. If you mean renting an appartment, a good comfortable appartment/ seaside house is 400-450 USD per month, an excellent one 600 USD per month.(Prices vary depending on the season). If hotel you can check 4 or 5 star options like Hilton, Swiss Inn, Iber Hotel, IBIS at Booking.com: 410,315 hotels worldwide. 24+ million hotel reviews. or smaller hotels 2 star like Mirage Village, Golden Europe, Leila, and many others. Let me know if you have any further questions. Iana Quote
kiteingcolin Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 If you could kite from the beach if front of the Hilton I would be there every year, but you can't, (apart from early morning before 9am) All the best water is for windsurfing only, shame as its a fantastic location, with speed strip and a gap in the reef where you can sail out into waves, well rolling sea that pushes up rolling waves at times these are huge, the great little old hippy style town is full of charm, we stayed there a month once, and we learnt how to eat safe in the many great restaurants.(having been involved in the trade for over 30 years you do know what could be dodgy) The lagoon is too small to shout about, get 5 kites in it and its full, get a few people teaching in it and it's a waste of time. I have to agree about the beach on the main strip, it's the best. And I know there is a small boat service from the top of the beach that will ferry you and your gear to the hotels lower down the coast that. You can kite from, but they are not anywhere near the fantastic sailing conditions all the windsurfers enjoy. Can't complain really as the windsurfers were first there in the 80s, and there are hundreds of them who totally dominate the area. I was one of them, and was there in the first week the Hilton Hotel opened its doors.93ish I think. Quote
chinook Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 and we learnt how to eat safe in the many great restaurants.(having been involved in the trade for over 30 years you do know what could be dodgy) What tips have you got for us without 30 years experience to avoid deli belly Quote

mick Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 Don't worry about the Egyptian shits. Just take a trip to Kenya and find out the real use of an arse hole. Stuff came out of me that I never dreamed possible. Without going into too much detail, a colour and smell that death itself would have trouble duplicating. Quote
5N1TCH Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 Something Kiteingcolin said in another post was to drink some spirits during and after meals great advice . I always take a couple of bottles of Scotch wherever I go, usually have my first one after breakfast before I go kiting. I've been to Morocco, Brazil, Turkey, Dominican Republic, Zanzibar, didn't get the shits in any of them. Quote
