As lying on the beach is not an activity for kitesurfers we think of other fun things to do. From the most recent - wakeboarding behind the camel. The idea has been suggested and implemented by Happy Kite instructor Vladimir Sliva. He has previously had an experience wakeboarding behind the horse, but camel in Egypt seemed very interesting in terms of means of good pull power)) Besides after having spent some time in Dahab we dispelled the myth that camel is a slow animal, it can in fact run at the high speed of 20 to 25 km per hour. Hello, the most convenient airport to fly in is Sharm-el-sheikh International. It is only 45 minutes scenic road transfer to Dahab. Some people however fly to Israel (Tel Aviv or Eilat) and than travel to Sinai.

Many kitesurfers ask us if it's safe to travel to Egypt and Dahab in South Sinai. In recent years Egypt has undergone a period of unprecedented political and social turmoil with most events taking place in Cairo and Northern Sinai. Tourist areas have been largely unaffected and Dahab in particular has avoided any disturbances and remained peaceful throughout this period. Local community thinks that the "travel ban" activated by some foreign offices is not justified and unfair on the local population. Dahab is same cozy windy hospitable little town these days. Local expats stay here realizing no risk to their lives. On behalf of local community our joint opinion that it's not more dangerous here than any where else in the world. We are currently looking forward for the travel warning for Dahab to be removed and welcoming back our friends and guests.

No offense here. It's exactly pointless. We have respect for all kiters. It was the times when water flooded the pavements, so it's offside from Dahab kite lagoon. Arvi took the ride at the end of the day when all kiters were packing their kites back into the storage. The students who finished their kitesurfing course at the IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization) Intermediate Level 2I are ready for independent rental of the kiteboarding gear. The level assessed as 2I assumes the following skills: - Water starts in both directions and ride a short distance - Come to a controlled stop - Know equipment set up and choice according to the weather conditions - Know the right of way rules Happy Kite school in Dahab extends equipment rental to all guests possessing IKO certificate of no less than 2I level. All students who completed their course are automatically recommended for rental by his/her instructor as soon as the skills listed above are accomplished. The convenience of the equipment rental at the kite center is as follows: the center stuff are always ready to help choosing the correct size of the kite and board for not confident freshman. In addition there is full line of kites of all sizes available at the school and this way the student is assured to have the best suitable gear instead of making his/her first independent attempts being overpowered or on a too small board as usually is the case when you have already purchased your own single kite and board. The rental student is also rest assured to be supervised by center assistant, who will not only help with setting up of the equipment but also helps launching and landing of the kite as well as is ready to rescue in case of emergency. (However some deposit is required) Therefore, if you are planning to take 7 days rental it will not necessarily mean that you will ride all 7 days as it is weather permitted. At the end of your vacation we shall count the actual rental hours or days to finalize your account. Also in case you don't kite more than 2 hours per day, we will calculate the hourly rate as it is cheaper than daily. Also the several days packages don't mean you should kite every day, you can choose to make breaks, same concerns the breaks you take during the day, we shall count only actual hours spent on water. We are always ready to make discounts for rental in times off season and for long-term requests. In case you have your own board or kite and you need to rent to rest of the equipment, than you can expect 30% DISCOUNT off the rental price (PLUS 10% for our frequent customers). You can also request the group rental option which means you will use one set of equipment for two people. It is much cheaper this way and gives opportunity for both to practice and help each other at the same time. When you take kiteboarding equipment for rent you should discuss, accept or decline the equipment insurance. Your health & sport insurance has to be organized prior to coming to Egypt. The equipment insurance means a voluntary, non-refundable payment for the possible repairs of the equipment. Insurance covers all equipment repair costs but it does not cover the complete loss of the equipment or its parts. Insurance does not include accidents on the opposite shore of the kite lagoon in Dahab and in open sea (including kite safaris). Insurance is valid until the first insured event. 1 day of rental - insurance fee 10 EUR, 2 days - 15 EUR, 3 days 20 EUR, 4 days 25 EUR, 1 week 30 EUR. In case insurance was declined by the customer and kiteboarding equipment is subject for repair, all costs will be carried by the guest. Hello Mick, first of all there are low budget easy jet flights available from Europe (London, Geneve and Milano) to Sharm-el-Sheikh in Egypt. If you book in advance you re looking at 40 EUR one way.From Sharm to Dahab we can help with airport pick up for 30 EUR for minivan (one way), regardless of number of passengers. Accommodation can be different. If you mean renting an appartment, a good comfortable appartment/ seaside house is 400-450 USD per month, an excellent one 600 USD per month.(Prices vary depending on the season). I would like to answer the questions of many family kiters and just families who are dreaming of a vacation with kids. I am confident to pronounce that there is no better place for vacationing or even long-term stay with kids than Dahab. It is really hard to find a better and more convenient one. First of all, it is fairly cheap and fast flight destination. But most importantly even to compare with Sharm el Sheikh, it is very safe in Dahab, children are large part of local community and security is not an issue here. Frequently visiting couples or even solo vacationing moms feel confident lettings their kid run along the beach, knowing that everything will be all right. There are many children here, as many families have been choosing Dahab as their winter get aways for years. There is also a whole troop of highly qualified babysitters, who will help to look after your child while you are attending a beach party or going on a kite safari or excursion. The babysitting fees are very affordable compared to European prices. Children just love it here, they run around together all day outdoors in fresh air, while their mom and dad take kiteboarding lessons. And as a result, kids fall asleep instantly by the end of the day without any additional suasions and 5 fairy tails to read))) So, visit us with your whole family as it is also very easy to rent a house for any term where you can cook the food that your children are used to. Happy Kite Dahab school resumed the kite-safari trips to Nabq, as this National preserve was closed after the July revolution. Nabq is a place of amazing natural beauty with several connecting lagoons of a different depth and with wonderful possibility to cruise between them. Here you can find the mangrove trees - the bushes that are unique for this latitude, which inhabited salted Red Sea as they have rare capability of desalinating water for their need. Nabq is most northern place on planet where you can find mangroves, normally they grow on equator. The whole lagoon is surrounded with bright green bushes and offers perfect flat water for riding. It is also shallow all the way down and sideways and with white sand ash like water becomes amazingly tourquise. At the end of the lagoon at the entrance to high seas you can see remainders of the ship wreck on the closest reef. This ship named after Maria Schroeder was built in 1920 in Norway and later sold to Humburg fleet and renamed after famouse German actress. It was a steam ship, with cruising speed of 11.5 knots which grounded and sank in waters of Nabq on her way from Aqaba to Western Germany. On surface of the reef, the other parts sank in the depth of 24 meters.
