SoutherlyBuster Posted May 2, 2014 Report Posted May 2, 2014 Woo hoo! Text book launch and land. Lump in your throat thinking, better make it ove the tops of those trees? Hmm, after some more training perhaps a 13th beach slope soar from the dunes? Noice! Regards, Norman. Quote
IMK Posted May 2, 2014 Report Posted May 2, 2014 Nice! I did a two day intro paragliding course over the Easter weekend this year. One of the most awesome things I've done in my life. What days were you up there? Cheers, Iain Quote
Jollyjumper Posted May 2, 2014 Author Report Posted May 2, 2014 Thanks Norman and John. Ian. I was there from 20th to the 28th. Did the course with fred and aj. Who did you do the course with? I probably would have seen you Quote
IMK Posted May 2, 2014 Report Posted May 2, 2014 I did the course over the 18th, 19th and 20th with Ted. I probably saw you. I got in four solo flights on the 20th before heading home. After having such a great time with the intro course I want to do the license course. I just started a new job on the 28th, so it may be a while before I accrue enough leave. Quote
Tiger37 Posted May 2, 2014 Report Posted May 2, 2014 Awesome first solo flight with a lovely gentle landing. Well done! Quote
Slartibartfast Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 Woo hoo! Text book launch and land. Bloody hell! I've done over 500 skydives and I don't think I'm yet to have a landing as nice as the one you had on your first attempt Quote
Jollyjumper Posted May 7, 2014 Author Report Posted May 7, 2014 Thanks guys!! Ended up doing about 28 flights over the 9 days, lots to learn and take in, was mentally very draining. Most flights were basic sledies, but got to do a flight in thermic conditions and also a bit of ridge soaring. Land-boarding and kite-surfing experience definitely helped with the course. Paragliding wings I found were very similar to land-boarding foils just waayyy bigger.. oh and the controls are backwards, took a bit of getting used to. Whole experience was Very surreal. Sunset flights were the best, no turbulence in the air and flights were smooth as silk. Couldn't get any footage on the gopro cos the instructor said if one of the lines get stuck on the camera means big trouble.. Slarti - im sure you would have been coming in much faster under a parachute trim speed for the glider I was on was 36kph, so not fast at all.. and the landing was from my fourth flight of the day.
