Gregga Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 is kitesurfing allowed here this time of year? going down on wednesday for a few days and might take a few kites - looking windy but wet Quote
Maro Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 Don't think so and it'll be packed with surfers anyway, have a go at saunton tho. Quote
Cafe.Racer Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 Yeah, I didn't think it was allowed at Croyde, but definitely at Saunton. Quote
paulie_amoose Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 Isnt kitesrufing banned at Saunton in July August? Quote
Cafe.Racer Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 They were out when we were there the other week, I can't say whether it's banned though, just that someone was out. I've probably mislead someone there... Quote

Just remember to be curtious to the surfers and stay away from where they are catching the wave (north end of the beach). Quote
5N1TCH Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 Dunno about kitesurfing but I've flown static on the beach there, oh and it's the most super-pretentious surf spot I've ever been to. Quote

But you can still kite surf there as long as you walk far enough down the beach out of harms way. Don't even bother with Croyde unless you want to surf. Edited August 24, 2010 by -Jonno- Quote

Croyde or Saunton? Why the most Pretentious??? Not sure about seasonal bans on Kitesurfing on Saunton, But I had a chat with the fella in the surf shop there about land based Kiting being banned all year round. He said although it's technically banned, if you're sensible no one will care. 2 miles of beach with a dozwn people on it who is gonna complain about someone on a kite. TBH I see kites at Saunton whenever it's windy when i'm there. Quote

There is a ban on kitesurfing in the months of july and august although more and more people are choosing to ignore this . Also 100m is not far enough down the beach, there is a big sign at the entrance to the car park that cleary shows you should be be past the big white rock that is up by the sand dunes. This is more like 500m down the beach not 100m. TMW Quote
Dominich Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 A dozen people on the beach? Maybe in December, move like a couple hundred this time of year. Go at least past the white rock, seen too many people setting up 100 metres before the rock, in amongst holiday goers! ;( Quote
