  1. Im thinking of heading out in march. Emerites flights are relatively cheap and so long as your baggage is less than 23kg and no more than 300cm total dimensions (length plus width plus height) it goes free. TMW
  2. I use these https://www.northshoreinc.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=118&idcategory=107 I'm a size 10 and they adjust for no boots to my 7mm boots. Only issue is the ratchet can jam up so they need a bit of grease on the adjuster every so often. TMW
  3. Nope never. If theres a windy day I leave work two hours early and go kiting. It's very rare that my work means I can't go. TMW
  4. You should try several different ones in that price range and go for the one that fits you best. No point in buying a great top of the range suit with battery powered heater packs if It don't fit right. TMW
  5. There is an exclusion in that they are not covered when competing in a competition but yeah accidental loss. TMW
  6. I am covered with LV. Had to ditch one of my kites at sea last year and swim in. Kite was lost. I was able to claim it on my insurance and have received payment. I still needed to report the kite as lost to the police to get a crime number but that I had already done as well as the coast guard. Initially they said they couldn't cover it, but after a review they got back to me and said that they would. £100 excess to pay but as it was my big flysurfer I got a payout of £2100. Note items over £1500 need to be named items. TMW
  7. This one? Before you do read the review. https://www.techinasia.com/xiaomi-yicamera-review-gopro/ TMW
  8. For example, same camera, same film. TMW
  9. Yes you can do all kinds of shit if you so desire. TMW
  10. If you want the donkeys gonads and are prepared to pay the bucks then buy a go pro as it has better video record options, especially for slow mo. If you just want a half decent cheap waterproof equivalent that records nice video in 1080p 30fps that comes with loads of mounts then go for the sj4000. I don't worry about losing mine or having it nicked as it only cost £55. TMW
  11. Obviously I have a lot of work to do yet to catch up with KSA's videos but I have put a couple of quick edits together with footage from my sj400. Apologies for the music but it was the best I could find at short notice in the youtube audio section. If anyone has better ideas of where to get audio tracks from for youtube uploads that don't infringe copyright laws please let me know. TMW
  12. The more important question is can you surf well enough to be able to surf a surfboard that will be small enough for kiting? TMW
  13. I have tried 3 different sets of fins in my light wind directional. Even a small change in fin size/profile makes a significant difference in its upwind capability. However it trades off when you head downwind as it slows you down and can be less manoeuvrable. TMW
  14. These guys do very comprehensive cover Travel insurance cover | STA Travel | Blue and Gold Travel Insurance TMW
  15. Not happened yet in 17 years of kitesurfing. I still maintain my view that the belief that board shorts are cable of saving your wetsuit from being ripped to shreds when being dragged across the ground is ill founded and that those who actually believe it (rather than using it as an excuse for their own vanity) are foolish. TMW
  16. What a crock of sh4t. If whatever your dragging over is capable of ripping a wetsuit then for sure it will rip the pants off too and then rip your wetsuit to pieces for good measure. Just admit it your vain. TMW
  17. Well as the cost of 5 sj400's is about that of one go pro you could use all of the above at the same time. TMW
  18. When in July is key. If during the school holidays then the beaches will be rammed with the bucket and spade brigade and the spots where you can kite will be limited. Best hope is bad weather. There is a launch area off sandbanks but this will be super busy as will the harbour. There is a facebook page where they are really helpful if you want to meet people https://www.facebook.com/groups/PooleKSC/?pnref=lhc Best option for a great session in the summer in my opinion is to do the downwinder from sandbanks to hengisbury head if you get the prevailing sw wind. Minimal beach contact and all you have to do is avoid the marked swim zones on the way. TMW
  19. Andy have you tired the anti shake mode? TMW
  20. Shot some footage yesterday evening in 1080p with HDR on and off and to be honest can not see any difference. I am hoping to go to Wallasey this weekend though in the hope of shooting some footage like this TMW
  21. A through assessment of the conditions and spot before you go out is essential. Know your kit and check it regularly. Know your own abilities. I have had 4 experiences of it going wrong and when it does go wrong it will happen very quickly. You need to be able to make decisions quickly. TMW
  22. Wow that sure is one amazing video. TMW
  23. Here are some very rough edits to show what you can do not so much with the camera settings as I agree DFWI is a good option but more with your editing settings. Both shot at 1080p 30fps HDR on. This one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olpaBr2Ka3g&feature=youtu.be is the basic video file and exported with the matched youtube settings. This one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuzgAKOaCMU&feature=youtu.be is the same piece of footage but edited at 720p with a rotation effect applied to take into account the angle the camera was mounted at. By editing and exporting at 720p but filming at 1080p you have footage to lose at the edges but can still get HD1 (720p). This means that I don't see the black edges of the film when its rotated. Also can you see much appreciable difference in the quality of the uploaded film? TMW
  24. Yeah I couldn't believe it was that easy either. Renaming as .AVI did not work as some said it might but .MP4 did. TMW
