Extreme3DS Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 This wind lately has been wild as hell. Could barely stand up and got the 3.6m up blowing on the wind anemometer at 46 knots, Launched at side of window it slided into the powerzone and scudded about 30ft but instead of stopping carried on moving downwind and had to be pulled back up.... Ok I can barely hold onto it so i thought might aswell do a pendulum with a kite loop (swinging the kite and not redirecting making a full loop... lets just say the kite hit the ground before me! but one hell of a superman. What have you been up to? Quote
carltb Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 i dont know quite what you expected to happen apart from getting slammed into the beach. when you land a loop on the board you come in hot and ride it out , so looping without a board in those winds is just plain stupid Quote
redmark Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 especially with a 3.6 m that must have moved like a bulleti dont know quite what you expected to happen apart from getting slammed into the beach. when you land a loop on the board you come in hot and ride it out , so looping without a board in those winds is just plain stupid Quote
JCalver Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 Somewhat dubious about that! I personally haven't met anybody that, having got to the beach and seen it's blowing 46 knots, then proceeds to deliberately kite loop, on land, without a board. Sounds like a prime cut of BS to me! Quote
peter32 Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 I dunno JCalver he may just be that stupid....... Quote

danthedmrrider Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 3.6m in 46knots of wind!? a few weeks ago i was out in 42mph so 36 knots and had to lend a go with my mates kite as my kite wasnt small enough (2.5m) so used his 1.9m in a t3 and was still well power up. i dont think you really did this!!! Quote
Andy-j Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 i was out in 80knots on my 11m this morning. i done an unhooked kiteloop sbend to wrapped. Quote

plummet Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 I think his forum name has the typo in it. should be "extreme BS". ps its not a loop you don't make it all the way round. Quote

plummet Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 48 knots is 10 on the beaufort scale 10 48-55 knots Whole Gale/Storm Trees are broken off or uprooted, saplings bent and deformed, poorly attached asphalt shingles and shingles in poor condition peel off roofs. Quote

gordonvanman Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 I think that 48 is a 10 on the B S should say it all. 2 m Sami - don't launch it 'cause you'll lunch it LMAO on Wessun as usual Quote
Batz Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 Awwww BOYS you scared him away! I could fly a 10.5 Blade int 46 knots. If it was attatched to my HOUSE! Quote
Zippy Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 2 m Sami - don't launch it 'cause you'll lunch it Gordon, you know me and know I have a 2m Sami, You can also ask people within the club and they will tell you I have flown it in 48mph, infact the highest reading we got was 50mph. It was a bloody handful to say the least, but I did it. I even got a 6ft jump but fuck it was scary and very hard landing! I havnt and wont try it in those winds again. 40mph yeah but no more. I know Sami's are powerful kites for their size but also know a Beamer 3.6 as I had one. I will whole heartedly admit there is no way anyone human would hold one down in 48mph, FACT! Fuck I reckon you could almost pull an oil tanker with one in those winds! Quote
Batz Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 I flew an Ozone Fury 2M in very high 30's once. NEVER again. As above it would lift for jumps, but landings were a beeeeeeeech! Quote
Zippy Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 I cant imagine even the biggest of people holding down a 3.6m in 48 knots, let alone looping it as well! It just aint happening. Quote
KciN Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 i was kite-looping my 9m evo in 23mph winds... Quote
KciN Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 expect i was completed depowered and edge of window I like my tally of accidents so far 0 Quote
gordonvanman Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 Yer Zippy !!! I just had a interestin session at the Wind Zone this afternoon with my 2 m Sami (which I nearly left at home). I was gusting 10 mph 10 - 20, 15 - 25, 20 to 33 or more. I didn't come off the board (No faceplant Daz!), but it was edgey. I'll watch you when it goes 30+ !!!! Quote
