Went for a fly on the hill yesterday morning and what an experience that was! Spent first hour sat in the car listening to the rain being driven against the windows before the sun came out and we could set up the 2.5m Bullet and the bug. No wind meter but the wind whistling through the radio masts gave us a clue as to the wind strength but even so I was totally unprepared for the ferocity of launching the kite. Over the next 3 hours we had more OBE's than you can shake a stick at. Several times we were ripped forwards out off the buggy on the launch but the main difficulty were the turns as there was no grip from the front wheel on the wet grass. This often led to the buggy sliding on in the original direction but the kite heading in the opposite with the obvious results!! Have just looked at the weather station output and we had 25mph wind with 45mph gusts. Twas truely scary sat in a buggy, no way I would have tried standing on a board.
