Hi can anyone tell me who was selling the LED bulbs on here about this time last year? I bought 6 of them at a cost of £80 and two have failed and another is on its way..
-
No worries about the hijack lol.as a last ( and very last) resort you could chuck in some leak sealer. So if there is a problem elsewhere it should do the job. But me personally I would rather find it and sort it, sure you would too, but I have had to resort to such measures to avoid taking up the floor to fix someone else's bad practice.

Hey mick,I forgot you were trade. But that fact that you are still looking into the problem tells me you want to get it sorted. So feel free to pm me or call if I can help. Another thing to check is the abv ( auto bleed valve) usually on the top of boiler. Was it vented properly? Is there any sign of of a leak from there? Certainly not the first place most would look as its usually out of sight. Worth a check tho.

Mick if you have the manual for boiler it should show where the prv is. In many cases you can operate it manually. Might be worth a look and try and operate it a few times as this could possibly blow any dirt from under the valve seat allowing it to seal correctly. Got to be worth a go mate. And a quick plug for me and update on site. I have taken note on the adverts and reduced their content by 30% as well as giving a fresher and cleaner look to the site. So should feel less cluttered even with the ads. dstevens999.co.uk if you care to compare. Cheers all. Dave.

Mick lol. Ok you do have a leak....somewhere. Combi boilers are a sealed system so no water can get out or evaporate in an ideal world. Make sure you are not putting too much water pressure back in as this may activate the pressure release valve. Now this is a good place to start looking as the valve may not be seated properly. It is usually ( should be) connected to some copper pipe that will just vent out thru the wall. See if there are any signs of water in the pipe if there is then there's your leak. Failing that check all joints and connections for signs of a white powdery substance. This is the residue that is left after tiny amounts of water have leaked out and evaporated. If the leak is so small you may never see any water, just the tell tale signs that it was there. Well there's something for you to do this weekend. Hope it helps.

Well a week later on, and more changes have been made. I have taken in the comments about the adverts on the website and this may be on the to do list to delete them. However my local magazine editorial that I do each month has been about promoting myself and my website, so I will know in a months time if the ads are worth it or not. Probably not will be the answer. I have checked out the ads that say find a local tradesman along with others that may be in direct competition, and I have to say from what I have experienced is that most people will get fed up with filling in the forms. It's a bit like dial 4 for sales 3 for bathrooms 657 for a useless rep to make an appointment to call. We all hate that stuff so I hope prospective customers will in the majority come back to me. The benefit to them is that I am local and they can talk to me unless my line is engaged. That all said, I have taken note of all your suggestions and comments and implemented many of them. So I would like to say thank you to all those that have helped out. And I hope some of the information I supply on the site helps you guys out. Also if you have any problems or queries then feel free to call or e-mail me and mention kitecrowd and I will see if I can help you out in return. But please no calls after 7 pm, Regards Dave. dstevens999.co.uk

Wow that was not what I expected to hear, so thanks Mick and the Geoff. I still have not advertised locally that the site is up and running as I was not sure if the vids were a bit OTT. But those comments from you guys have confirmed that it should go well. Thanks all for your advice and support, I will let you know how it works out. And the Geoff I will bear that in mind. Dave.

Hi all and many thanks for all the input. I have persevered over the last week and the site has changed quite a lot. I have simplified the layout so as not to be so messy. I have also added video tutorials for the benefit of those that learn better that way rather than reading instructions. The videos I have done have a humorous side to them so as to make a boring subject more watchable. Once I actually get more of a grip on things and see what works and what does not then I may very well pass the code on to a professional who will be able to do the bells and whistles. Thank you all again for the input and if you would like to see the revised version it is at dstevens999.co.uk Further advice and critism is still very much welcome. Regards Dave.

Hi AndrewJohn, yes I see your point about the ads but they are Adsense content that I have put on in my own domain. If they get clicked on it generates a revenu albeit small, so thought I would try it. Also all the ads that I have looked at do not appear to be local competition. On the plus side I can tell customers to look at it for ideas about styles, types of taps etc. Again tho thank you for your input.

Hi, 77w, thank you for that. I was expecting a slating, but as I read your post I agreed with everything you said. As I mentioned it's all new to me and maybe I was trying to get a bit too much flashy stuff in rather than realising the point behind the whole exercise. That said it has been a very steep learning curve using dreamweaver and taking things back a gear and keeping it as you mentioned should hopefully not take too long to rectify. Once again thank you for your input. Dave.
