aevans692 Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Hi guys.. I am going to change my kit for 2010, I have been of the water since the end of sep with injury, So thought I might grab some new kit for a fresh year.. lol.. Ok I have been on the 08 vegas and have a small 7 09 for big days, I like them all is ok but time for a chang me thinks . So thought about getting the 2010 vegas which look good and I like the look of the new bar.. But I have also been thinking about the slingshot fuels which look like a very well built kite I had ago on the RPM in the summer thou the kite was not for me the build of them were next to none.. I know that both kites have good and bad points, and Iknow that the vegas is de-powerable and the fuel has little depower. But to be honest i feel when I really depowered my 08s you loose the sterring response, which is the case with a lot high de powerables.. I tend to ride at camber , greatstone, minster, whitstable, poole, devon at times , i am around 12 stone and have been riding a while now , like to try new stuff tricks and that but i'm not as good as I want to be.. So was wondering what the majority would pick? Has any one ridden both back to back? Am i right in thinking that the fuel is a one trick pony while the vegas is more usable? I dont want to hinder myself but want to make up for lost time from this year and kick it up a notch with some nice new kit. My wife mentioned to me to look at the naish Torch , I dont know much about these ? Any thoughts or helpfull advice would be nice.. Thanks guys Quote
jamesnaishuk Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 if you pick out a local retailer to you and your sailing spots you can have my 11m torch for a bit of a play if you wish. its been on demo up at hy=unstanton watersports as they keep hanging onto it, has compared very very well to both the North, slingy and the recent forum darling hifi. very good mix of predictable freetyle performance and depower, maybe not as much as the LF but more than the slingy, feed back from some 2010 vegas riders was that they had to tweak the vegas settings loads onto the full freestyle setting to make it anywhere comparible to the torch but then it was too compromised for normal riding. it is a genuine offer if you would like a go. soggy Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Sounds like a good offer there, the Torch is a great kite. Grab it quick before some one else does. Quote
smews Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Hey James, I haven't had a go on the new Torch yet. How does it compare to the Hadlow Pro 09? Whats the pull like on the kiteloops and does it come back to 12oclock quickly afterwards? Plus do you have to loop it again. From pop how easy can you get the lines to go slack or is it a constant power hungry machine driving forward? Quote
aevans692 Posted December 14, 2009 Author Report Posted December 14, 2009 James . Pm'ed .. thanxs .. Quote
North Wind Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Just remember to return it / don't sell it ... lol. Quote
Blue Ice Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Steve, the Torch is a lovely kite mate tbh, i havent flown her maxed out yet but ive flown her when in normal winds powered up. I felt extremely comfortable on her straight away and felt a similarity in the way they flew compared to the Hifi Comp. The Hifi though does have a lot more depower but if your getting 3 kites, then that shouldnt really be a problem. I still think the Hifi Comp has more of an explosive feel when you unhook but try the 11m Torch which Steve Murfet has, as its a lot better than your Hadlow your flying! The smaller sizes i reckon would be amazing for kite loops! Quote

jamesnaishuk Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 hi steve, deffo get a spin on the one that murf has before i nab it back, better riders than me (ned taylor) commented that the 11m loops well enogh to catch you after the loop so the climb is definitely better, the wing tips sit straigter and dont pull in as much reducing drag so that definitely helps, very nice pull when unhooked and slack is easy to get. if anything it is a more freestyle kite than in previous years, that were a bit too hooked in freeride in comparison, and as such were very sensitive and shifty when unhooked, the 2010 is just mellow and predictable for unhooked riding but still loops with more power than before. i would say that the wind range is a little less but have watched riders stay on the 11 for competition riding when others were on 13m to 9m and they rode well enough to win the british title so clearly there is a very decent range on them, probably just me being shit. Fred53 Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Also have a look at the 2010 hi fi comps. PM "doggy" and he ca get you a demo at camber/greatstone Quote
dbinit Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 also take a look at the blade prime. It sounds like it would also suit what you are after. there is a review in this months iksurf mag , and some fantasic feedback on the kiteboarder forum so far. they are just out , but look to be Blades best kite yet. Sanjay Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 This forum is a bit of a pimp station for LF isn't it? Quote
Afro1599968737 Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 they might be twats about it, but the kites are worth a look in fact the OP might as well try all the C's he can get his hands on... vegas (got) fuel (try a local shop) torch (james has offered) prime (dbinit, as above) primadonna (ask "Lem" or "richieripz" for a demo) hadlowpro (try a local shop?) C4 (try a local shop?) Quote
paulie_amoose Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 This forum is a bit of a pimp station for LF isn't it? Cool brand of the moment... Simple as... With wakestyle being "legit" and LF having a wake background, this gives them "cred". Other longer running kite brands like North or Naish are ridden by "dangle kooks" and are considered "wack"..... tom1599968574 Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 This forum is a bit of a pimp station for LF isn't it? take the 9m comp out on a 7m day and youll understand why! Quote
paulie_amoose Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 take the 9m comp out on a 7m day and youll understand why! Take any 9m kite out on a 7m day and you will go huge.... Quote
aevans692 Posted December 15, 2009 Author Report Posted December 15, 2009 This may sound stupid , but are the 2010 Lf kites out yet all I can find is 09 ? Thought I would have a little look.. Quote
hankster Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 have you thought about the jn kites like the primadonna 3 etc.but even though i don't possess a lei yet as i'm waiting for some cash off my ex off the house which is dragging on,have demoed quite a few lei's the LF hi fi's i took too straight away i found it an easy kite to fly or adapt too,as did the jn's.the slingshot fuel i found was more hype than anything still a good kite but would choose the hi fi comp,& jn primadonna over the fuel.i've never flown a north lei so can't compare the vegas with the other 3 mentioned. aevans692 Posted December 15, 2009 Author Report Posted December 15, 2009 ok found the LF 2010..lol... Will have to find out a bit more about them.. Quote
aevans692 Posted December 15, 2009 Author Report Posted December 15, 2009 Have been looking at the Bars and lines for each of the mentioned kites , and I have to say , but with out testing . That the north vegas trust bar looks very good... I am still on the fence about under bar sheeting. Quote
jamesnaishuk Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 i would have thought that most 9's would go huge in 7m weather or is that me just simplifying things....question is though do you have to ride a 12m when its 9m weather on the same basis? Quote
KiteItRight Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 have to agree..... 9m hifi comp is probaly the biggest boosting kite in history... its on another level to anything.. down to the fact it has a drinking straw for a leading edge. Quote
