sukie Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 hi i landboard quite a lot and really want to compete. this year i went to swansea to enter the freestyle comp. however when i got there i was the only girl so was told i was unable to compete, i was quite upset about this as i had driven 5 hours only to be told i couldnt enter, oh well there is always next time so i went to blackpool. entered, paid my money, only again to be told i was unable to compete as AGAIN i was the only girl. i asked to be put in with the boys, i have no problem coming last, i would just like the chance to compete. unfortunatly however, rules are rules and the class is not allowed to be mixed sexes. Redcar BKSA next weekend, is the last event of the year and the last chance to compete. please, if there are any girls who are around then and think they may just want to give it a go, please do! i personally wlll be so grateful, and hopefully it will then encourage more and more girlks to get into it and start to compete. and you really dont need to be very good!!!!! the level between the boys and girls is massivly differnt, so you may think your crap when you ride with boys, but you are proberly bloody good!! anyway, 1st 2nd and 3rd get money!!! Quote
bartiebat1599968741 Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 I'll play Sukie. I'm really crap, sometimes I can't even stay on the board never mind jump! I'd appreciate some equally crap people to help me out though!? I don't think there's a prize fund though, Nicki was told we weren't eligible for anything in Blackpool because funds had been set aside for the blokes only & not the girls. I'll stick my board in the van & play it by ear Quote
windjammer1599968715 Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 get lou to enter i think she is making the trip up there Quote
Afro1599968737 Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 i think lou wont be there untill friday night (after the scheduled time for the land comps) Quote
plummet Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 thats political correctness gone mad. not allowed to compete bcause your a chick. its not like its the olympics..... tell them to pull their heds in,.... or you could dress up as santa wear a fake beard and enter the blokes anyway.. Quote
parksy Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 (edited) If I ran the comps I'd gladly enter the girls:D Edited October 4, 2009 by parksy Quote
The Geoff Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Yeah, like the fake beard idea (If I turn up in a slinky little blue number with a wonderbra can I compete?! ) Surely you should get 1st place by default? Furness once won a world champs round on the water with a Super 10 because he was the only person who dared go out in nuking conditions. If you're the only lady-type to go out, you win I reckon. Quote
Cyprino Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Should I enter, but put my hair up in a (small!) ponytail? I'll just claim to be a very flat chested girl! Also, I'm crap - so don't worry about losing to me Quote
captain caveman Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 surely it doesnt matter what sex you are in a freestyle comp ...... how can either sex be at an advantage therfor needing segrigation .??????? one of the main reasons i love this sport is that any one , any sex , hight , weight , age ,etc can all do it ....and successfully ! this country is barking freekin mad i tell ya Quote
casey Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 thats political correctness gone mad. not allowed to compete bcause your a chick. its not like its the olympics..... tell them to pull their heds in,.... As is no prize fund for the ladies but giving it to the fellas!! outrageous!! Do they not want any women involved in land kiting? Sorry ladies, you might graze your knees, now toddle off to the water won't you! Quote
Westwood Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 good post sukie. i think everyone should make an effort and get involved for the last event of the season. i for one will be turning up to support and hopefully get a cheeky session or two in. Quote
weazel Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 if i have a shave and strighten my hair i might pass ... lol seriously who can i get a lift off? Quote

BoooSt Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 that is a stupid rule.......just tell them your like Caster Semenya the 800m runner .......and your cock is on the inside Quote
eazyrider Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 That is just a little bit stupid! I cant understand how or why they would segregate men and women for, water I can understand as there is a lot more people contesting. But for the land its not painting a good picture is it. You would think they would just open the land side to all just to get more people entering the comps and so shining a brighter spot light on a minority sport and bringing greater attention to it. And as for the fact that there is no prize fund for the women's comps is just a piss take! Quote
bash1599968729 Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 i am going to run a comp next year with PK mag anyone and everyone regional events free the final you pay for. You will run your own regional and then send the results to the me with pics we publish these in the mag. the best riders from any club/location/park what ever come together for one off final. You bring your mates from the location to support you. Prizes and medals and trophies for all regional and finals will be given out on one of the nights across the weekend. you have to be at the final to get your medal. Any insurance accepted as long as you have some no discrimination at all just competing the best rider against the best riders simples! You can even enter if your the only rider from your location simple you win! the final will be open for everyone to enter also if there is enough interest the heats will be split in to the top three riders from the regional then everyone else. more details are going to be published in the magazine and a web site will be going live shortly. we feel this is what the sport needs basically a free event just letting people ride the final will be based on a jam style with all entrants requested to ride in the competition field as you names/number is read out over the PA. the others can carry on flying in the free ride field practising or just having a blast. Also as a bit of fun we will be putting the ramps out on the free ride feild for all to use no restrictions. Quote
feral Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 The worst thing in my mind is that you paid then you couldn't play, thats just wrong. If you front up with the entry fee you should be allowed to compete,Just because there isn't a category full of entrants shouldn't deny you time on the course. Maybe you could lobby some of the top male riders to help you enter their comp-tell them that excluding women makes it look like they are scared of girls (maybe they are!) Quote
bartiebat1599968741 Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Hi Sukie, A girls buggy comp is looking decidedly dodgy this weekend & as I've entered a BKSA blokes buggy comp before I didn't want to be in your situation & travel all that way only to be told they've changed the rules. So anyway, I've checked with Richard Gowers who checked with Peter Shaw who said not a problem I can jump in with the blokes if I need to which must mean you should be able to too. Does that get me off the hook?! Don't mind either way just let me know in the interest of space I'll print off what they sent me just in case Quote
sukie Posted October 7, 2009 Author Report Posted October 7, 2009 hay, hmmmmm, thats pretty cheeky! of them not you! as they have not yet let me in with the blokes!!!! dicky has always said no to me! Quote
nickfox Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 this is logically insane, the idea of segregated sex competition has always allowed women to compete and win without being beaten by men who often have a biologicly muscular advantage over women. HOW DOES THAT APPLY TO FREESTYLE KITING???? you should get a blody medal for being the only woman to turn up let alone compete! infact this category could be a walk in the park, how much for a sex change these days. ive always fancy'd a pair of boobs. and i could wear hot pants WOOO! Quote
zimmer Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Until you girls can throw stones properly........................ Quote
MuddyMrTimm Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 That sucks, they'll be telling you ya cant drive a car properly next. Pfft. Fake beards, that's the answer to this situation! Quote
