  1. I'm still alive too! Been doing too much work recently, not enough kite stuffs and photography...
  2. So, I've currently got a late 2011 15" Macbook pro, i7/8gb/500gb with Snow Leopard which is my everyday machine for just about everything I skipped the Lion upgrade, from what I heard it had several kinks which needed ironing out. Likewise, I didn't bother with Mountain Lion straight away. Since the update to ML has been released (10.8.1), people seem quite positive about the whole thing. Is it worth the £13.99 to update? Also, a couple of potentially silly questions.. I've got a WD Mybook set up with Time Machine for my backups, and an old portable WD hard drive for 'archive' stuff. If I decide to upgrade to ML, I should still be able to use these without issues? Also, a big one - software and data! I've got stuff like Office, Photoshop, itunes etc all set up and working how I like them. I've also got a bunch of data on here (although it is backed up with Time Machine). As far as I understand it, upgrading to ML will only change the system's OS files and folders - it should leave my software and data untouched? It would be interesting to get some of your points of view!
  3. For sale is my Trampa deck! It's barely been used, got a few scuffs from the beach but nothing major. It's drilled for MBS bindings & skate trucks, fitted with grey trampa tread instead of the usual crap grip-tape and hasn't been cut or shaped in any way, so it could make a useful project for someone! These are £125 for a blank brand new one (without grip/drilling!), so snap up a bargain! £60 + p&p by bank transfer pleeeaase. I'll even throw in the stickers that came with it, cos I'm nice like that
  4. The new iPad is out now, but stock seems tight in places at the moment presumably because the initial supply has been devoured quite quick! The monthly data plans are pretty good value when you look at it, I think the 3 network do the £15 for 10gb. Streaming video through Sky Go is going to eat up the majority of your allowance, so the 10gb option might be worth a go... Is there anywhere that gives the approximate usage of watching something like a football match? Could be good to calculate some estimated monthly usages, see if the £7.50 for 1gb would be sufficient.
  5. Aforementioned pimped board thread: http://forum.kitecrowd.com/kite-landboarding/pimped-board-thread-168289.html I can only echo what the others say, if you go down the cutting route, take it easy!
  6. Quick tip - don't use the air tool thing at a petrol station to do small tyres! Saw a guy trying to inflate his bike tyres in Spain yeeaaaars ago, it was going very well until he didn't take the nozzle away quick enough
  7. He's got even less grey matter, just look at his spelling and grammar
  8. twchambers - that's spot on, cheers dude! Just installed it, added my 'Music' folder to the shared bit, now I can see it via the ps3
  9. Howdy Need a bit of help from anyone who's a bit more proficient in medium/advanced networking than me I'd like to get music from my macbook pro to my ps3! It was a very simple step with the old PC, I could just search for media servers from within the ps3, and my PC would appear. Alas, the macbook doesn't Anyone able to shed some light? I've had a look at the sharing permissions on the macbook, but there's nothing strikingly obvious to adjust! I'd like to be able to do this without resorting to using a flippin' USB stick - why have a decent wifi network if you can't use it properly?
  10. Shows the colour staining of the 8.5m is barely visible, if at all! http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q4/minidoogers/IMG_6463.jpg

  12. PS3 beta anywhere? Definitely looking forward to this too much, I remember the days of BF2 on the PC - Wake Island was so much fun. Pretty sure that's how it's meant to be done?
  13. Good stuff The weather was f*cking nuts yesterday, and I was inside at work!
  14. My brother got a HTC Desire HD on Orange from them, good monthly rate and he's had no issues. He didn't go for one of the "FREE PS3" style offers, because they are a con
  15. Might as well update this! Mine is currently very tidy, brand new machine and all that http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6192/6090035897_b9fe322f15_o.png Let's see how long I can keep it tidy...
  16. Well I called the local store to actually see if they had any in stock, which they did. Explained the predicament, and the girl said I needed to phone the tech support to get a reference number which they can use in store to facilitate an exchange. Fair enough. Called it up, described the fault, and they suggested a factory reset on the handset to rule out any software issues. That went fine, and the phone now appears to be fine... The tech support person said that I have a 'new' 14 day period where if it goes wrong then go into store, so I'm keeping a very close eye on it... Tempted to go in anyway in case it decides to happen after the 14 days!
  17. It's very popular, you're missing the point of it really When the biggest twat (the "winner") is announced, it's usually very obvious as to why they got so many nominations, so justification isn't really necessary
  18. The phone is brilliant otherwise, really liking it. I got it from the store in Hove (nr Brighton). I live in Bexhill, which is an hour and a bit away by train... Eastbourne or Hastings are much more suitable, they're within 15 mins
  19. I'm going for a direct replacement there and then, if the shop doesn't have it in stock, I'll travel to another store and they can reimburse my costs
  20. So I got myself a HTC Sensation on wednesday (yes, 2 days ago), from a mobile phone store in Brighton. Now, the only 2 handsets they had were opened boxes. I had a thorough look over the handsets and it was all present and correct, just the charger opened and the protective stuff removed from the phone. The sales guy was up front about it, to be fair to him, so I reluctantly agreed to take one. Today I notice a screen issue, looks like the graphics adapter? It's not completely dead, just got some funky thin lines appearing, hopefully you can see from this pic: http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6209/6083143120_a372dc74b7_o.jpg Should I: 1. Call the customer service line and let them send out the returns packaging, I post it back, get a new one sent back to me? 2. Go back to my local store (I got it in Brighton, I live in Bexhill!), and get them to replace it there and then? I can't be without a handset, so i'm favouring the 2nd option...

    just wondering

Just be careful on your little revolution, don't want you putting your backs out *runs*
  22. If anyone is selling a Blade 3 4.9m, please point them in my direction! Cheers
  23. The Blade is beautiful kite, although an animal at the best of times! I learnt on a Blade 3 4.9m, I loved every minute of it. Except when it was pushing 20mph, because I'm about 10 stone and it just used to hover me along the ground Also, the 'not much power until nearly at the zenith' sentence rings true of the Blade 3 as well! Ah this has bought back memories, might try and find one for old time's sake... I won't call you a girl, because I've been spoilt by depowers too - the power is when you want it, not when the kite says so!
  24. Cor blimey, what a cracking thread! 20 pages of utter drivel, I love it! One thing to say to jackd - put a fucking helmet on. I too had an accident from a similar height jump. Managed to land on my left shoulder and back of head, although I'm not sure exactly how I got myself in that position Anyway, I broke the helmet upon landing and was KO'd for a couple of minutes. Without the helmet I wouldn't be sitting at my computer desk typing out this reply (which I get the impression will be ignored anyway, but c'est la vie.)
  25. Do you read xkcd though? (I'm unashamedly a geek, and xkcd is awesome)
