I think you'll find you CAN put a jellyfish into a standard fishtank.

Granted , it won't last long.

you cant put jellyfish into a standard fish tank, you need a VERY high volume (1000L+) cylindrical tank with a specialised filter and a circular updraft, such specialist equipment can be £5k+ easy

well, if it isnt circular with an updraft then it will either run into a wall and die, or sink to the bottom and die. quickly.

So say you want to go nuts and keep something small...say a box jellyfish? (Seriously people, I'm talking hypothetically about one of the most venomous animals on the planet)

What's the cheapest/smallest theoretical setup if you wanted a pet jelly?

that can vary quite a lot from a few hundred to many thousands depending on size, for example HERE you can see a very small (24") jelly aquarium retailing at over $2700, and you would expect to pay much more for a larger or custom system

a fellow fishkeeper by any chance madman? There was an article in pfk a while ago about keeping jellyfish, I think they said its not too difficult, just expensive for the equipment. :)

nah, dirt cheap these days. Ive got a nice zanussi one in my kitchen, variable temperature, 40, 60, 80 degrees and variable 'updraft' up to 1000rpm if youve got a fiesty little jelly fish :D
