AcesHigh Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 Folks, I need help..more than usual! I've been hunting for an entry level buggy and have come accross the Radsail Eolo, Rockville 2008 and of course the PL Competition all for similar prices. http://www.kiteblading.co.uk/shop/catalog/details?shop_param=aid%3D3%26 I weigh about 80kg and am 5'9 and looking for something I can lern the basics on as well as advancing to a few jumps. Can anyone offer me any opinions on these three buggies please - Basically I'm asking you to help me spend my money! Thanks in advance Quote
benne Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Crikes, a week and still no reply?!?!?! Eolo is crap, it will bend as it is made form thin grade stainless. Rockville is (I think) mild steel so will rust in time if taken onto beaches etc or nt dried properly after getting it wet. PL comp is ok in XR form, but the ST also bends a little bit (nowhere near as much as the eolo though!!) Have you considered a second hand flexifoil buggy> these will be cheaper then any of the above and will outlast them!!! BC Quote
lewisg1 Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 get the flexi secong hand, will be cheaper and stronger, ive got the rad-buggy its not that bad and doesent seem to bend but I should have got the flexi second hand but anyway you learn from mistakes and im not really using it a lot now. steve_w Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 With flexi buggies sell around the £200-£250 mark save your cash up and get a flexi you won't regret it in the long run Quote
benne Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Steve, check out the price of the eolo, its about £260 now, he would actually save money getting a flexi, I think eolo have their heads up their asses with their pricing at the mo!! Lewis, you probably have the luxury of being small, a local flyer here (12st max) managed to bend his really quick!! Quote
mikeymustard Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 I'm really not being buggy-snobbish when I say, avoid the radsail and rockville buggy like a pig with a v.high temperature. The PL is only slightly better, frankly, tho XT has been made in a slightly higher gauge steel than tin foil. If you wanna jump, get yourself a 2nd hand flexi like the others say (you might struggle to get one for £200 but £250 is realistic), otherwise, for a cruiser get a RS or Libre Quote
mikechml1599968606 Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 I got a second hand flexi for a shade over £200 and it's in perfect condition. Get one! Quote
Sand-Yeti Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 The aforementioned buggies are OK for learning but forget about jumping with them becasue they will bend. Follow the advice of the other guys who recommend the Flexi buggy. Quote
Kiteboyza Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 all them mentioned including the Flexi are rubbish, Philpig has a big stainless buggy for sale for £250. Buy decent gear first time around mate. Its like a giant armchair and you would be sitting inside a buggy rather than on top of a cake tin with wheels Quote

But yeah, if you're gonna race then £250 is a steal for a buggy of that quality:) Quote

Nick1599968727 Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 while he does say advancing to a few jumps so jimping is mentioned, I agree phill's buggy is a steel at 250 but that is without wheels. I just picked up a brand new rs on bigfoots for 250 so they are out there! Quote
mick Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 no mention in his post about jumping, is there? Er yeh actually. Get the PL and make friends with a welder. Certainly miss the Eola and don't touch the PL Comp. unless you're very light. The XR is better. BUT it has to be the Flexi for freestylee and 'advancing to a few jumps' Quote
popeyethewelder Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 This would be ideal http://forum.kitecrowd.com/showthread.php?t=170477 Quote
Davef173 Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 I brought a Rockville from Kiteblading as My first buggy two years ago and It is great. Deep seat so for being first buggy ,being pulled from side to side you won't get pulled out and you have more time to correct the kite/buggy. wide axle so it is more stable and well built. You will not fine the axle bowing like a radsail one. For price it is a very good starter buggy and two years on I am still riding it and will not change it. Quote
