G*Love Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Hi everyone! I was driving past the lake and noticed someone heading out for a kite and was wondering if that person or anyone else would like to meet up and go for a kite some time. I just got a new switchblade and board. Im Keen to get out this summer and 2 people are better than 1. Quote
skinduptruk Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 where were they launching from? I checked a spot for launching in an easterly near the telopia park drain water looked gross. parkes way rowing course might just work in a NW heading to the gg's house! or just yarralumla bay with the windsurfers but not much room. I've windsurfed between parliament house and Anzac parade, maybe you could try a strong easterly for that since it's a bit sheltered other than east west and west is gusty on sat I used my PL scorpion on water for the first time went ok at Broulee in 15 to 25 knots. heaps of bar pressure but I need to check the VPC settings are set right I'd like to try lake coila, sanctuary pt aka st georges basin (jervis bay), and lake tabourie entrance (also sand boarding but it might be a few weeks away yet upcoming event is the corona merimbula classic late nov Quote
G*Love Posted November 7, 2010 Author Report Posted November 7, 2010 They were launching from the east end of the lake just near Clare holland house and the boat house restaurant. I thought a good place to try would be the grassy area at the end of the war memorial rd between the round about and the lake, it looks like a good spot depending on wind direction. I was thinking about going down to the kite festival but I have plans for that weekend. Quote
Magoo Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 Hi Guys, Here's the comments I got when I posted this question a while ago if you missed it. viewtopic.php?f=74&t=13594 I'm keen to get out kitting on the lake, but I'm still starting out so not so keen on being out there alone. Let me know if you plan on heading out. Cheers, Nathan Quote
G*Love Posted December 16, 2010 Author Report Posted December 16, 2010 Hi Nathan! I did see your topic but thought that I would have a go at posting something. I am super keen to get out on one of the lakes but I am in the same frame of mind as you not wanting to go out by myself. Give me a call if you want and we can arrange some time soon to get out there. 0410293586. Cheers, Guy. Quote
skinduptruk Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Hi guys, until they do a serious clean up of the logs, i strongly suggest you don't bother, hitting the debris could be fatal (impact / tangled up) for less than 3 hours drive, goto the coast or coastal lakes eg. st. george's basin / huskisson or lake coila / broulee. better wind, clean water. lake george has a trace of water but there are other hazards of fences and boggy mud i hear... Kurt. Quote
Magoo Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Good point, hadn't considered all the latent debris. Thanks Quote
