Dr_Nick Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 Hi everybody, Has anyone flown a frenzy on 30 metre lines, been thinking bout getting a set to find some cleaner wind and get a bigger window. I fly a 10 Metre 06 kite. What's been you experience, good or bad?? around £90 is a lot to splash out, so thought i'd pick your brains Cheers for any help, Ads Quote
Zippy Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 I think you may find that the 06 could be the problem. They are renowned as a horrible version of the Frenzy to fly and I cant see 30m lines improving it any. Maybe trade it in against a superb Frenzy like the FYX or if funds are tight how about putting the £90 towards a 2nd 05 Frenzy? They were the best until the FYX came out. Quote
Afro1599968737 Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 wrong zippy; the 06 is epic, i wish i'd never sold my 10m... the 06 started what became the manta, and that is a serious success story the 05 was a slower kite for lazy fliers, the 06, 08 and 09 frenzies have all been faster, better kites part of the appeal of the 06 is its extra speed, and 30m lines will make it slower to respond so i cant imagine it will be ideal what problems are you having at the moment? (tip tuck, luffing, stalling...?) Quote
Zippy Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 Well your the 1st I know to like them We all couldnt get on with em so verdict is wide open again Quote
Afro1599968737 Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 if you doubt me, just ask spooky you might want to put aside a spare hour though; it wont be a short reply Quote
spooky Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 25m lines just fine. Is a tweak you can do to make it more "grunty/poppy" rather than the throw about style it was (for runner to the Manta). Makes it more like the 07 Frenzy. Jon Quote
Dr_Nick Posted July 6, 2009 Author Report Posted July 6, 2009 Hey, cheers for the replies My kite's been sweet, i've had to work at getting used to it coming from a 4m blade, but the more I fly the more I like it. Still lots to learn! From what I understand it's a kite you have to work rather than put in the sky right? So far this is helping me think about where i need to put the kite. Thought that longer lines would maybe give me some cleaner wind a bit higher up as some sesions are scary when this luffs then reinflates Havn't really had any problems other than that. Spooky what's the tweak that you're talking about, wouldn't mind trying it to see how it feels? cheers all Quote
wenglish Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 have to agree with afro, i realy liked the 06 and thought it was one fo the best ones. rich had a 7m and it was a great kite but yeah you did have to throw it about a lot to get the most from it. dont bother putting it on longer lines. Quote
Chris L Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 Well your the 1st I know to like them We all couldnt get on with em so verdict is wide open again I like the 06 Frenzy..just took time to adjust to it;) Don't spend the cash on longer lines... Quote
sukie Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 the 06 was fantastic! so much fun! why wou;ld you want a slow kite?? you would be spending a shed load of money on new lines, way over £50 i rekon, for an extra 5 meters?? really wont make a huge amount of differnce aside from low it down a tad. not worth it. the kite likes to be flown. Spooky what's the tweak that you're talking about, wouldn't mind trying it to see how it feels? hey dude where are you flying??? if inland then ye sthe longer lines will help you get celaner wind and a larger window(same with all kites) if you are flying on a beach with clean winds then this wont help. The 06 was from our opinion like Marmite I have had all the versions of the Frenzy and never went for the 06 as from the 05 it lost the "grunt" the 07 brought that back . The 09 is even better:eek: Any way yes the 06 like most have said was more a work it kite(like the manta a kite flyers kite) you had to throw it to generate the power it wasn't a launch and ride kite. However saying all that I know love the Manta I think it was a mental block form my point that the frenzy may have lost omething from ealier versions and then when they brought it back it was all good again. In short dont buy new longer lines just make up a set of extenders (how ever long you like) and attach a remove as necessary this wont cost the earth either! Quote
Rich Holloway Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 Hi Nick, been awhile, how's it going. When I ordered my Sabre I had it come with 30m lines and that's the length I use on my Blade as well, for Exeter's inland spots they do make a lot of difference. You probably noticed that with 25's when it's around the zenith there's plenty of wind but as soon as you start to work the kite you have to bring it down out of the sweet spot, with the 30's you can still work it without ever having to bring it down too far. Dr_Nick Posted July 7, 2009 Author Report Posted July 7, 2009 Hey, Yes flying inland in exeter like rich says the sites are a bit of a pain and cheers for the input rich, would be cool to have a go on your sabre with the 30's bud. Have moved down to barrack road now so king george's is my new local, have to hook up soon bud ( no goal posts at the mo either ) Bash cool idea about line extenders, now all i need is some spare lines to cut Anyone got anything spare?? cheers all Quote
