  1. Hey, Yes flying inland in exeter like rich says the sites are a bit of a pain and cheers for the input rich, would be cool to have a go on your sabre with the 30's bud. Have moved down to barrack road now so king george's is my new local, have to hook up soon bud ( no goal posts at the mo either ) Bash cool idea about line extenders, now all i need is some spare lines to cut Anyone got anything spare?? cheers all
  2. Hey, cheers for the replies My kite's been sweet, i've had to work at getting used to it coming from a 4m blade, but the more I fly the more I like it. Still lots to learn! From what I understand it's a kite you have to work rather than put in the sky right? So far this is helping me think about where i need to put the kite. Thought that longer lines would maybe give me some cleaner wind a bit higher up as some sesions are scary when this luffs then reinflates Havn't really had any problems other than that. Spooky what's the tweak that you're talking about, wouldn't mind trying it to see how it feels? cheers all
  3. Hi everybody, Has anyone flown a frenzy on 30 metre lines, been thinking bout getting a set to find some cleaner wind and get a bigger window. I fly a 10 Metre 06 kite. What's been you experience, good or bad?? around £90 is a lot to splash out, so thought i'd pick your brains Cheers for any help, Ads
  4. cheers spooky, covered all the bases there dude Have looked and the instinct leash looks sweet, clip on both ends will be helpful too. So cheers for that. Found it on PKS for £20 too, prety good price for the leash you get compared to few others I found. (nice to have a decent spares listing for manufacturers too, top job PKS) If I wanted to connect it up for suicide, do you just clip it round one of the two lines on the depower rope or both, not sure if it could slip over the stitching below? Also anyone flown frenzy on 30 metre lines, should think it would be pretty sweet as much bigger window, but at £60 odd, be bit exspensive if wasn't great cheers again ads
  5. Cheers for the replys people, so what's it like if the kite stays powered and you have to pull it back? is it easy to get hold of, spose if you can take some tension out of the line it'll lose a bit of pull so you can reel it in. no leashes i'v found online say what thier length is which doesn't make choosing easy.... one mystic one say's it's longer for bow kites?? but they are rope inside with no elastic, so that'll probably yank ya pretty hard?! If a leash is little too tight i guess i can always extend it with a decent carabina to alow it to reach the brake line if i need it on saftey. Maybe the flexi one would be the one then? ads surface tension the place to buy spares etc, have fraved brake bridal line??
  6. hello, Does anybody fly frenzy's with a leash? Flying unhooked inland scares me a bit, don't wanna drop or have the kite snatched by the wind. Spending an hour cutting my blade out of a tree years ago was enough and had kite killers straight away I know there's an attachment point for a wrist leash on the brake lines, but wouldn't want it on my wrist. Can this point be used with any handle pass leashes? Also where on the chicken loop would you attach it to stay powered? and what leashes work best, have looked round a bit and couple of the new maui magic ones look pretty good, but whole new ball game for me so bit unsure.... any help would be sound, cheers ads
  7. cheers festa, guess thats what it is dude. thanks for your reply bud, ads
  8. Hey, Recently bought a second hand o6 10m which is lush But it came with two grey lengths of line and one blue, are these supposed to be used on the bridal??? any help would be sweet cheers ads
  9. Hey , Hopeing to get down the the long field by the river behind the crem saturday or sunday this weekend as winds looking pretty sweet Does anyone know if they play football on those pitches on the weekend?? If so do you know what time they finish, as its a bit of a trek from whipton be real helpful to know cheers take it easy ads
  10. cheers for all the advice, think i will go for foil, don't wanna fly ahead of myself, after hearing whats been said and the knowledge or respect i have for the wind and how it can punish you if your not paying attention! think a foil would be for the best. had thought of a frezy above a sabre before i looked into bow's i'm sure sabre's are wicked kites, as i've had nothing but good flying with flexi so far, but frenzy's have always seemed killer kites, and seem to have got better and better. Can you hook a leash onto frenzy setup same as sabre? cheers havn't logged onto forums for few years, awsome to come back and find everyone so helpful, ads
  11. cheers people ok so they are solid, and possible to fly on own. Why do you advise against a bow being forst depower kite, they just too quick and lethal??
  12. Hey, Been flying blade 2 for years, time to go depower. Would bow kites be suitable for flying on land, know i'd be ok with a frenzy etc, but spending around £700 just wanted to check. Would they take landing face down on hard sufaces if it happened? Is it possible to set up lanch land on your own? Do they suffer badly if the wind isn't always clean? If they'd be ok is there any specific models that would be better than others?? Really appreciate any help on this, know i'm in the kitesurfing section, but you guys will know best, be nice to be able to play around in the water tooo, just built a decent sandboard, and am thinking bout making a kiteboard as well, so to have versatility would be sweet. Cheers all, take it easy, Ads
  13. windtalker...beat me too it
  14. i quite like the new blade III bags, black and grey looks pretty cool, but then again, the frenzy ones hold and ice pick... so undecided, may just stick with the blade II ones look pretty retro.................
  15. Went up arena fields today, super scary gusts! The fields soaking wet, got whooped once then packed up, would have been sucidel to carry on flying. ads
  16. Hi all, Fair few people in Exeter now eh, cool! I'm up for a fly nearly all the time, and know two mats who'd be up for flying weekends. Normally fly up exhibtion fileds as i live around the corner, but it's got way boggy with the rain we've been having recently and i don't wanna rip it up too bad. As for a big field, have just got a map of xeter made by Ordanance Survey so I'm on the look out for any interesting sites to go check out, its 1:25:000 so its quite detailed covering 20k both ways. So should give a good guide. ads
  17. cheers schmik, yeah sketchy when they do chase for real, I normally just pull the kite up to zenith and stand there till they get bored or called away, try not to put the kite down if i can. How's christmas lookin oz? whats your weather like? Hey speaky, see you're up in weston, hear you have a good beach there, is it good?? And also do you know about the ATBmag world freestyle champs happening in the weston super X arena Feb? "The first World Freestyle Mountain Board Championships is taking place on the 20th-22nd February 2004 at the Weston Indoor Super X Arena, Weston Super Mare. " check out atbmag.com for all the info, it;'s gonna be sweet, I should be there for most of the week before, and i'm hoping to get down to the beach to fly a few times, play in some cleaner wind for a change! cheers all and merry christmas, ads
  18. Axelant- think a destruction test would be a great idea, really see what survives what and which have weak spots etc, - good point! The padding in the dirt lid is removable and very snug, but i'll have to see how practical it is to wash after its had some use. I can see why centre's require you to wear a lid, they can get in trouble if there's a serious accident, and a lot of em have a hard enough time with the coucil on the best of days. But there is no excuse for forcing you to wear a lid that doesn't fit pproperly, as this can do more harm than good, for you and the reputation of the centre. Other than that, I think there are times when you can go without a lid, obviously learning anything you should be padded up the best you can, and i know that there may always be a time even when you think you'll be ok that you may still need one. But for me mountain biking, off road, in woods with trees and rocks i'll always wear a lid!, but jumping trails, or street riding I feel confident enough in my abilities not to wear one, even though there's danger i know i can handle my bike well enough to avoid a bad fall. I always wear one kiting and mountain boarding, as we all know the wind has a habbit of re teaching lessons and making you respect it !!! And the ground hurts when your comind down from a fair height with speed. and with the board you have control but nowhere near as much as a bike. So it's a must But how many people have you seen skating or blading with lids on, and these guys ride on propper solid terrain with curbs, n rails n edges, i guess the confidence thing has a lot to do with it,
  19. Hi Rayens, Top job findin them, it's real good to see you value people safety, they do look solid,, I was gonna use my dianese lid from my motor bikin days but it's just way too heavy, which can be kinda sketchy either on my mountain bike or boarding. What kinda weights the one you've found? I was after a troy lee to start cos they are tough as, and are the mutts nuts, but my bank doesn't hold the required funds!! This dirt ones a stop gap, and sos it was £60, but you're right it ain't the most robust lid around and it's only CE , but the pay off for weight and comfort, on my head and neck works for me until i can afford a full carbon troy lee or like. ads
  20. Hey all, Just got me a Dirt lid for christmas, £70 it's full face, but with great vision, very light, great fit, killer looks - (troy lee kinda rise on the chin gaurd) and comes in matt black, so with a little art can look sweet. The only thing i'm not keen on is the venting on the top of the lid, standard skate style vent, which don't match the rest of the lid for style, and don't vent as well as the longer slit vents, but hey, who's gonna see the top of your lid?! Well i try not to ride looking at my feet anyway ...... cheers ads
  21. cheers, since last crimbo, was blessed with a blade, but don't get out to fly as much as i'd like, work too much! ads
