Dunc Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 Can anyone recommend a good kitesurfing school. I'm from the Midlands so i'm going to have to travel to get to one so not too fussed about where in the country it is. I've been looking at the 2 day course offered by Surface 2 Air at Camber as it looks well priced. Any recommendations or reviews of the S2A course. Quote
joe90nine Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 Kitesurfkings is definitely worth a look for some South Coast action http://www.kitesurfkings.com Quote

TwistedAnimator Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 If you were planning to go to Newquay I'd recommend Will @ Atlantic Riders http://www.kitesurfcornwall.co.uk/ (bit of a trek though unless you're going there for a week or more) Quote
soggy Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 I have a school in southampton if your interested. See my profile for web address. Quote
soggy Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 Have a look in kiteworld mag at their schools directory. there are loads of great schools about. Just check they have showers, changing rooms and free car parking. Parking at some spots can be quite expensive. One school may be say £10 cheaper than another but thats usually because you have to get changed into your wetsuit in a car park and go home with sea salt crusted to your face......... nothing beats a hot shower after 5 hours in the sea!!!! As far as good instructors go, all schools will have qualified instructors by either BKSA or IKO (very similar). I'm sure you will have fun wherever you go. Quote

Crob203 Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 Likewise looking for a kitesurf school for a mate, in S Wales. any suggestions with comments welcome! Quote
Liquid Force UK Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 http://www.thekitesurfcentre.com- also working from camber sands but more competitively priced than S2AS with more experienced instructors as well Quote
shemKSW Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 Were probably your closest bet here in Aberdyfi, (thanks for the add earlier), Theres a massive amount oif midlanders here every weekend, and a real friendly scene. Borth and Aberdyfi are always occupied by kitesurfers in campervans every weekend. Im not gonna tout for biz as Ive always got plenty, but wether u learn with us or not, itll always be your closest spot, ( between a hour n a quarter and a hour and a half from Shrewsburry. Check out http://www.forces-of-nature.co.uk for more local info and to chat to kiters from the midlands that come here every week. Good luck! Quote
kiteingcolin Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 dont go anywhere with shore break, or bumpy seas, the flatter the better, it will be less frustrating, wind strength will be what it will be, kite size will help you tackle the wind, but bumpy water and shore break are session killers when trying to get up, sand practice will be the same anywhere, good luck and pray for fair winds and blue skys, i used to teach, and the conditions play a big part, the instructor should be well trained, and be able to make you feel safe and eager to progress, its all about fun, and fun it should be, a happy attentive instructor will be a bonus, there are very few krappy instructors, Quote
Dunc Posted April 2, 2009 Author Report Posted April 2, 2009 Thanks for all your responses so far guys, got a lot to think about now! where in the midlands are you? I'm in Stamford, it's right on the east side of the midlands, South Lincolnshire area. Quote
mattfat1 Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 Steve Murfet is the man in hunstanton, im in lincoln not too far from you hes the guy I went with. Sorted bloke who knows his stuff http://www.kitesurfhunstanton.com/ Quote
shemKSW Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 If your that side of the midlands you prob wana think about sunny hunny then, altho west wales will be your best bet for westerlys. Were lucky in aberdyfi that due to our estuary we can sail in any wind direction, and theres always a onshore. and a choice of waves, flat water estuary and lagoons. happy dayze, http://www.kitesurfwales.co.uk Quote
daztheginge Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 ok bud, always looking for some car sharing. maybe see you at hunstanton area sometime, (thats closer to you) there is a kite school in lowestoft (kiteboardinguk) that work around the east coast and there is dean at gorleston. also a school in hunstanton. Simon Edmonds Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 Definitely Big Blue (http://www.bigbluekitesurfing.com) Newgale, Pembrokeshire. Great team, beautiful location, pub, greasy spoon cafe, campsite and surf shop... what more do you need Quote
JohnDave Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 No one's mentioned Turbulence in north wales, heard good things about their lesssons and I know they're a great bunch. Otherwise there's Alex at hangtime in Fleetwood or Tom at Kite it right if you fancy the north west coast. Quote
barrybarryr Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 I cant recommend anyone personally but I only ever hear good things about Blast in Porthcawl. Quote
Perry Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 Another recommendation here for Steve Murfet at Hunstanton. Quote
Blast Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 Likewise looking for a kitesurf school for a mate, in S Wales. any suggestions with comments welcome! Male & Female BKSA Instructors Plenty of reasonable accomodation B&B's or camp sites to choose from too. Quote
