Jump Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew what the best kite is for kite jumping? I've heard the blade 2, 9m is good? I'm upgrading from my Radsail 4m Thanks Quote
Jackal76 Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Ello, Depends on how much you wanna spend, how heavy you are and your level of experience. I've only been kiting for 8months and recently got hold of a Blade IV 6.5m - it's awesome! I'm 79kg (12.5st old money) and need anything between 12-20mph. Best jump so far is a clean 12ft, although I know I can go higher Lift is clean, hang time is long and the landing is easy - what more do you want? Good flying!!! The Jackal » DP Power 2.5m » Ozone Cult 4.5m » Blade IV 6.5m Quote

Frakke1599968664 Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 I had 4m Radsail and a 6.6mBIII that was enough for me for about 2 and a half years now I've got Biv's and the 8.5m is more than a handfull already so be careful F Quote

MatJ Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Nah, the 4.9 across the series is the widowmaker. The II is probably the most sane and predictable except the IV... Back on topic - something smaller would be good. 9m is a lot of kite - it will move and turn very slowly and have a much smaller wind range than your radsail. Something around the 6-7m mark would be better - as far as blades go, this means: Mk. 1 7.2m (I own one) - Very lifty and powerful but can be unpredictable. Mk. 2 6.4m - Slightly more predictable and tamer Mk. 3 6.6m - Very powerful, very snappy. Not a fan of the mk.3 myself. Mk. 4 6.5m - The best blade flexifoil have ever produced, but much more expensive than the others here. As far as static jumping is concerned, you will have a hard time finding anyone who disagrees with me when I say that the blade is the best kite on the market for it. Quote

Unfortunately I disagree with about most of what you've written. But we've all got opinions and they all seem different when it comes to kites. What suits one............. Quote
Zotty Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 i agree with him.. but of course i'm biased having owned THEM ALL .. what do i know? lol and mick youve offered nothing constructive to this thread,, a "vet" such as your self should know better .. off the high horse son!, its dosnt suit you Quote
mick Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 i agree with him.. but of course i'm biased having owned THEM ALL .. what do i know? lol and mick youve offered nothing constructive to this thread,, a "vet" such as your self should know better .. off the high horse son!, its dosnt suit you Oh thats how you offer constructive comments to a thread eh. Say you agree with him and then typically slag a horse rider off. Ah yes Ive got it now. Hey but it gets the post count up so alls good. OK then, the jump from a 4 mtre Rad sail to a 9 mtre Blade is huge. Try something smaller. Blade III 6.6 in my opinion the best of the 6's. Docile, predictable, floaty, sensible colors etc. Quote
Zotty Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 again... mr horse rider.. i didnt agree with the original poster.. i agreed MatJ on his opinions on the blade series. its already been said Jump shouldnt make that mistake .. dosnt need repeating.. now as i said SON .. get of ya horse and drink ya milk!! and of course your speaking out your horse riding rear end by suggesting the blade III 6.6 over other simler sized blades.. "Docile, predictable" you know not of what you speak... go take ya leisure flying horse riding bad attitude to some equestrian forum where you can shout at normal folk from your postion of "power" FOOL. oh,, and you must be jealous of the post count beings as you thought it was relevant to this thread.. whats the matter?? cant handle that you only put the minimal effort into this great community.... ps .. http://powerkiters.co.uk/g2/d/30688-2/_DSC5269.jpg taken sunday.. still out there.. and feeling i'm justified in making comments in thread relevant to what i do/fly feel free to pick on my spelling now...mr predictable Quote
Frakke1599968664 Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 nice reverse sidewinder there zotty did you get the kiteloop in as well :D damn those Biv they're just the dogs really.... Just to add "weight x wind speed x kite size x size of balls" equation again for good measure..... and that comment about smaller wind range if ya can't walk back with it in the air the kite is too big.... and a 9m BII will probably start "supermanning" you around 10 - 12 mph be warned F Quote
Zotty Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 nice reverse sidewinder there zotty did you get the kiteloop in as well :D damn those Biv they're just the dogs really.. why thank you Mr Frakke .. not sure if i had a loop in that one but was looping that day (not my most confident move i must admit) .. was one of the great wind days minus the loony feelng lol nice advce there too buddy hope it rubs off on the local pale rider :D Quote
mick Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Hey what a terrific picture. I never got to any where near that standard. BRS I guess. Bit confused as to why you think I would get personal and criticise your spelling. Why would I do that? Quote
Zotty Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 pmsl.. no idea but thought i'd point out any future lines of abuse concidering you went for the always predictable post count attack lol... peace love and happiness zot over and out Quote
mick Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Not your post count you plonker. MINE !!!! I have mesen to think about. Anyway I'm stressed cos the men are here fitting the sauna. A sauna ffs. What is my new wife on. Quote
L60N Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Back on topic. saunas... LoL Yeah, i'd go with a Biv 6.5 - I have epic fun on my 4.9 and am seriously looking for a 6.5m myself for more of the blade action for those tamer wind days I seriously love ma blade, and would never part with it... It just brings out the kid in you everytime Quote
Zotty Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Anyway I'm stressed think you got it bad?? day 4 in the big brother house here ... ermmmmm hang on.... thats wrong... day 4 in the none smoking house and you was this mornings victim wish me luck.... Quote
Zotty Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 I seriously love ma blade, and would never part with it... It just brings out the kid in you everytime ive felt like that about every blade ever made lol (and owned em all) .. apart from the b3 3m... that was no blade.. that was a mad man on the loose with an axe/2 knives/6 sub machine guns/3 granades and 22 water ballons and is seriously upset that his his willy is smaller than his thumbs :D .. owned mine for 3 years.. it was as crispy when i sold it as it was when i bought it new :D Quote
Zotty Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 oh... and to the original poster go 6.5 biv ... take ya time .. use ya killers.. start off light Quote
mick Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Anyway I'm stressed think you got it bad?? day 4 in the big brother house here ... ermmmmm hang on.... thats wrong... day 4 in the none smoking house and you was this mornings victim wish me luck.... Blimey Craig, that explains it. Its not like you and me to have words:rolleyes: Good luck with it tho mate. I have a friend who says giving up smoking is easy. He's done it loads of times. Well back to the kite thing. While I do agree that the iv is a superior kite, ( I only disagreed to wind you up) the III's are now such a good price 2nd hand that I would still go that route. I do love my 6.6 III and I even more love my 4.9 III:) (I also love my Predators and my new wife a bit as well) Quote
L60N Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Stick with it Zotty!! I packed em in 1 week, 4 days, 7 hrs and 53 minutes ago It is getting easier, and i can smell things lol!! Quote
crazyman Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Nah, the 4.9 across the series is the widowmaker. The II is probably the most sane and predictable except the IV... Oi! i aint dead yet and iv got the 4.9 mk3 granted some of the lands can be a bit... heavy somtimes but im thiunking thats cos i suck Peace out Quote
mick Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Every II 4.9 Ive had a fly with has been horrible compared to my III. Ive bought two 6.6 IIIs off 'experts' on here and they were RUBBISH. Both had been flown with the bridle completely out of whack which is the IIIs problem. 5 minutes later, a little bit of line, the most terrific kite you could get. (apart from the Z mans IVs) for the money. Having been on the 6.5 IV the other week, I could feel a difference generally. The III to me is an uncomplicated pulling and lifting kite. As this is a recreational jumping thread and not specifically buggy or board, I wonder would a novice notice the difference. Probably the fact that you can turn down the wick a bit obviously. (awaits the tirade of abuse from Nicotti Nell) Quote
