@Encona - wind varied from about 20mph at the start down to about 6mph when we packed up at about 4pm. I dunno what that gust was that took Zotty 100 yards down the beach and through the river but it was funny as feck :DSPLOSH:D Especially when he had to come back through it again to get back:D:D

Popped to the field at about 3 ish today - 7+mph so didnt stay

Wasn't I on it then? Got there at 2.55pm. Wind was a bit up and down for a while but had a reasonable session working the 8.5 then wind picked right up at 4pm - just as I'd swapped my 8.5 to the new flexi handles, forgot I needed screwdriver to fit strop, thought sod it I'll have an unhooked fly and got blasted 250 yards down field with hands in straight up'blade position' unable to get the brakes on:eek:.

Don't think i'll be able to make it this time guys :(

Really wanted to go, but i already promised a friend i'd go elsewhere with him weeks ago, i forgot it's on the same day :( :(

Maybe next time.

On the plus side, the kite turned up today, it's a bit wet so i'll be getting it out of the bag later and hang it out to dry in the bathroom (wife'll love me for that one!).

What i can see of it, it seems as described, the bag looks pretty worn, but it is the original North Rhino KiteSurfing 05 bag.

It has a REALLY long bit that pulls out of the top, like an extension to the main part of the bag, would i be right in thinking that is where you would put yer board?

It has a couple of Cabrinha stickers in the one pocket and some repair patches, but other than that it's just the kite and the bag, no lines or anything, so i'm going to need to buy a few things !

I also got a book from the library about kiting and kite boarding and the like, most of what i've read so far i was kinda already aware of, just didn't know the technical terms for it all, like AOA, and ratios and drag versus lift and that kind of stuff. But it's all good, soon i'll be on the chapter where it explains about the rig, setting it all up and whats needed, thats where the real learning starts!

I'll keep you guys posted!

Incidentally, which field is it everyones been going to, EKS?

Also, could anyone give me the address for the EKS place please!

Thanks lads.

Most of the regular SPF forum users only fly normal foils so we're probably not the best to answer questions on inflatables - sorry, but don't want to give you the wrong info! Maybe worth a post in the kite surfing section as they'll be able to give you some help.

We have our own field leased, or at least we're resorting it at the moment but I won't have the details finalised for that for 2-3 weeks while its sorted. For the info on the EKS site see http://extremekiteshop.com/kites/kite-field-membership-p-908.html - theres some directions towards the bottom of the page. I've not been there yet.

Excellent, thank you!

I kinda figured i'd have a better chance of finding the right advice looking more toward the beach, with the LEI. But i know a lot of the traction kite people do the surfing to, so thought i'd ask!

I'm going to be changing hobby soon, i currently race model cars and am getting a little bored with it, so i think i'll sell my gear and get a 5 - 6m traction kite with a bar rig setup, then i can use most of the stuff i get with the LEI too, as long as i get extra lines for the bigger kite and a bar that is suitable also, but the harness and safety gear will be interchangable i would expect!
