Trikbitz Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 Well, I have to say....this has to be one of the lowest of low jobs...The office was a complete pig sty...tables yes, chairs yes, phones yes, one toilet, no toilet paper or anything to dry your hands on. no kettle or anything to make a drink...they start you off with the hardest of customers....the holiday, guest houses and B & Bs etc, who are fed up to their back teeth of people like me asking if they would like to advertise in a newspaper they have never heard of before..... Computer....nope, just an old guest and B&B mag from 2008, with scribbles almost completely covering it where probably hundreds of other people before me had been. Believe it or not by lunch time I did actually sell £70 worth of advertising to some poor B&B owner, she probably felt sorry for me, well the editor (hmm thats what he calls himself anyway) nearly fell off his chair, as no one ever sells anything in the first 3-4 days at least in that market, especially in the north east, who wants a holiday in the north east....well, it seems like they were pleased with my effort, bu TBH, my self esteem at the end of the day was dragging on the floor. to put it in comparison, I would need to sell at least £3000 worth of advertising PER WEEK, and I would still be earning less than what I have been taking home from work for the last 4 months for doing nothing lol.... I have never had one day out of work for 32 years, and am very proud of that, but I have until the 4th of Dec to find something better, or ....well I can barely say it, I guess I will just have to grin and bare it.....there's simply not many jobs out there...its ok if you are a nurse or a chef, or a sales executive... Help...... I found a bit of a market you may want to dabble in carl you can make some good money. Building gates and fences You can pick up all the fancy stuff, infact all the bits you need from Metal Products from FH Brundle - wholesale distributors since 1889 I have made a few using the parts from here all you need is a Mig and a bit of space. check out a kit price against buying a set of gates made to measure as this company supply most of the companies who make them Quote

popeyethewelder Posted December 6, 2009 Author Report Posted December 6, 2009 (edited) I found a bit of a market you may want to dabble in carl you can make some good money. These places have been going for years are are totally geared up to mass produce any type of gate anyone wants. Its similar to making buggies, ok if you want a bit of pocket money I have got some temp work till Christmas with Parcel Force starting Monday Edited December 6, 2009 by popeyethewelder Quote

HOUSE Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 Just can't seem to get my head in gear Si, all I am concentrating on at the moment is finding a job...glad you had a good day mate, see you soon I hope I'm sorry to hear that Carl - it's not like you to miss a decent session, but I know what the job thing is like. Any more luck yet? Have you got anything in mind? I know a local welder who was made redundant about a year ago. He is finding plenty of local work fixing stuff for people. I know it doesn't compete with a steady well paid job but it beats no job. A guy with your skills has to be needed. Hope you can get over to the coast soon - it helps to chill if you can Quote
popeyethewelder Posted December 17, 2009 Author Report Posted December 17, 2009 Some good winds at Mable today....for those brave enough Quote
