Well after my first ever buggy sortie on my new buggy (Philpig's old buggy) I'm completely hooked and can't wait to go again. I went to Redcar last weekend and loved it.

I didn't exactly go for miles and didn't break any speed records but had a whale of a time and really lookng forward to going again. looking at xc weather it seems that mablethorpe will be the best spot on sunday so I'm hoping to take a trip down. If you see me struggling along then feel free to say hi, big fella flying flow's.

Equally, if you see me doing something daft or something that is likely going to end up with me going for a swim then plese feel free to tell me I am doing it wrong. All advice greatfully taken onboard

Where in your opinion would be a good place to start out from around there on sunday? Does anyone have any advice?

cheers

luffy

Well low tide is 11.10 so you could get there about 9.30 and follow the tide out. Bit of a S Westerly wind so not ideal, but ok for trundling about, not sure if I can make this Sunday, I have cricked my back....but have a great day and tell us all about it when you get back.....its been bloody ages since I have graced Mables inner thigh...:D

ps click the Mable link at the bottom of my siggy...its further up this page

....Ghost town....in here lol

Well tomorrow I have a trial day for the South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Telegraph as an advertising space seller..!!!!! beggars can't be choosers in this climate, anything is better than job seekers allowance....I hope

Well, I have to say....this has to be one of the lowest of low jobs...The office was a complete pig sty...tables yes, chairs yes, phones yes, one toilet, no toilet paper or anything to dry your hands on. no kettle or anything to make a drink...they start you off with the hardest of customers....the holiday, guest houses and B & Bs etc, who are fed up to their back teeth of people like me asking if they would like to advertise in a newspaper they have never heard of before.....

Computer....nope, just an old guest and B&B mag from 2008, with scribbles almost completely covering it where probably hundreds of other people before me had been.

Believe it or not by lunch time I did actually sell £70 worth of advertising to some poor B&B owner, she probably felt sorry for me, well the editor (hmm thats what he calls himself anyway) nearly fell off his chair, as no one ever sells anything in the first 3-4 days at least in that market, especially in the north east, who wants a holiday in the north east....well, it seems like they were pleased with my effort, bu TBH, my self esteem at the end of the day was dragging on the floor. to put it in comparison, I would need to sell at least £3000 worth of advertising PER WEEK, and I would still be earning less than what I have been taking home from work for the last 4 months for doing nothing lol....

I have never had one day out of work for 32 years, and am very proud of that, but I have until the 4th of Dec to find something better, or ....well I can barely say it, I guess I will just have to grin and bare it.....there's simply not many jobs out there...its ok if you are a nurse or a chef, or a sales executive...

Help......

Carl - I thought you might have a hard day of it. Selling anything in a recession is tough, but advertising space is one of the toughest and you did brilliantly to sell any space at all. Folks do get fed up of being pestered by calls but I always see the other side and try to keep a good relationship because there are times when adverts are needed by any business.

keep forging links and people will come back to you.

I hope something better comes along - seems crazy that a guy with your welding talent isn't needed somewhere out there....
