Spudley Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Ghostly silence in here the last few weeks... so I'm thinking as there's more action on facebook than. Should we create a facebook group for us all? Facebook would be good for keeping in touch, think it's been quiet in here purely due to complete lack of wind. Fingers crossed for some wind for the coming w/end as i am off. Any news from our travelling kit tester? Come on dave, lets see some pictures or hear some tales from your adventure. Its grey cold and windless here. Quote
DjMoz Posted January 26, 2010 Author Report Posted January 26, 2010 No news from the travelling kit tester, I have not tested any kit other than a modified PL Synergy. I have ony been out a couple of times in the last three weeks so pretty quiet. Currently trying to learn a bit of spanish in malaga. My time in Tarifa was good but I dont think I improved hugely, although I got comfortable again in good size waves. My main improvement has been proper unhooked raileys on my regular stance I land 90+% with some of them actually looking okay. Not many tales, even less pictures but I could try and get a few. See what I can find. Hasta Luego. D Quote
Spudley Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Getting serious withdrawal symptoms now....drove down to Poole last week with 20mph forecast only to get there to find 5mph. Drove back along the coast to check out Branksome and the reef. Think we should get down there for a sesh when we get a chance. Still no wind so got the longboard out and skated the pier and promenade. Snowboard is waxed and fingers crossed for another bash if the forecasters have it right for thu/fri. Quote
snap1 Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 I agree Spud! Have not got out for a long time and especially not on the wet stuff, will be back to a beginner again! Have been out a bit on the long board recently still a great adrenaline supplement to kiting. Will have to meet up again in Basing was a good laugh last time + I think we should do the festival place multi story when quiet LOL. Quote
Spudley Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 Mark, did you replace those ozones yet? what did you go for? Quote
mark o Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 Spud, got a North Evo 12m not flown it yet thou' so no idea what its like. Heading off to Cape Verde in May so fingers crossed it gets a fly prior to that. Quote
Spudley Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 Saturday morning is starting to look promising, anyone up for a trip somewhere? I have work friday night but would probably stay up to make an early dash to the coast. Quote
Spudley Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Where was everybody? Had a great session down at Hillhead today, lagoon was butter flat, nicely powered on the 9m and not at all cold. Quote
mark o Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 Good to hear that someone got out, that's got to be the first time in nearly 3 months? We were enjoying the snow of south east France And DM made a special guest appearence Quote
DjMoz Posted March 6, 2010 Author Report Posted March 6, 2010 Flexi back in use. Good to see. Some nice E winds all this week a touch chilly maybe but possible to get out. Poole seafront would work as a nice cross shore. D Quote
DjMoz Posted March 6, 2010 Author Report Posted March 6, 2010 Marko, been looking at all the snowgear and now know what boots, binding I want. only problem is that will be best part of £400. Which boots have you got?? I know they are Solomon but which model. The F22 is my choice. Quote
Spudley Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Am off wed/thu this week and as Dave says Poole or even Avon beaches could be worth a try. Where are you now Dave? Quote
DjMoz Posted March 7, 2010 Author Report Posted March 7, 2010 Hey Spud I am back in basingstoke. Quote
Spudley Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Cool. You working? Or have i got a midweek kitebuddy back....lol Quote
snap1 Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 Ok weekend looks good, who's up for a coastal session? Book now to avoid disappointment. Also if any 1 feels lucky I may arrange a poker night soon after the last discussion at the pub. Quote
mark o Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 Anyone up for an afternoon session tomorrow? It looks probably the best forecast for the week, text me if you're interested. I'm aiming to depart for the coast around 1pm. Quote
Spudley Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 Anyone up for an afternoon session tomorrow? It looks probably the best forecast for the week, text me if you're interested. I'm aiming to depart for the coast around 1pm. would definately be up for it Mark, will send a text but not sure i have the right number. Quote
DjMoz Posted March 18, 2010 Author Report Posted March 18, 2010 Hey Peeps, action again on the flexi forum, very good. Well my stint of unemployment is now over, I have just accepted a job.... it just happens to be in Slough! So if anyone fancies a joining me for a celebratory drink tonight then let me know. Kiting... it seems to me that time off just means less kiting. Saturday, Monday and Tuesday are looking good for wind though so I may utilise as much of my last few days of freetime to go kiting as I can. D Quote
snap1 Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 Well my stint of unemployment is now over, I have just accepted a job.... D Nice 1 Dave! Not too fussy this time ;-) or just a good opportunity arisen. I could be persuaded for a drink to celebrate for sure. Quote
Spudley Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 Well done Dave. Busy this w/end but monday is looking pretty tasty for some kitesurfing, will keep an eye on forecast. Not that forecasts are reliable in any way...As me and Mark found out yesterday:rolleyes: Quote
DjMoz Posted March 19, 2010 Author Report Posted March 19, 2010 I have given up on chasing 16mph forecasts. must be 20 to tempt me to travel. Quote
Noo Noo Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 oops haven't been looking here for a while. Fair play on employment Mr Moz. Back to the real world, however rubbish it seems. Now then peeps. Saturday turned into a sweet one. 16mph my a**e Morris. Comfortably into the 20's, well powered on the 11m. The stoke has returned and at last kites are being used as they are supposed to be. Mark - please answer messages fella, no one knows what you're up to!!!! Right my plans for the remainder of this year. 1. Get the van running right. 2. finish the inside, cheap, cheerful and usable. 3. travel wherever the wind is. I also fancy a week or so away somewhere where it's purely kiting where it's head down and improve. Quote
snap1 Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 NooNoo you forgot to mention the weirdness of the session .... We had the whole beach to ourselves :-) - Nicely powered on my 9 had a kick ass session, ache a little now but all worth it. Was nice to finish in the dark again have not done that for a while. Quote
Noo Noo Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 oooh yes, how weird was that? Totally unheard of, quite eary really. No one, I mean no one there at all. Can't for the life of me fathom that one at all. Almost felt like the naughty boys Quote
DjMoz Posted March 22, 2010 Author Report Posted March 22, 2010 Everyone went early then. Also Rugby was on England had France. Wales didnt do bad for a change either. My plans - Van is done enough, needs a service but is ready, lot of weekends away for me, expect minimum of one a month and hopefully two reguarly. A couple of kiting holidays are still on the cards. Couldnt make Saturday in the end as I had other requests, that was the other reason I was uncertain. D Quote
