I want to snowboard, this kitesurfing is overrated!! Okay its not but I had to have a session on the 12m yesterday for an hour, it was a bit dissapointing I have been flying the 10m well powered for the last two weeks. D Quote

Noo Noo Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 Yo snap. Unfortunately skiing snowboarding isn't cheap, but boy is it summat else. Out all day. Lunch up the mountain, quiet beer say 4pm, Awesome dinner, and party if you want. Great company tops it off. Last years effort for me Flight accomodation £300 Lift pass - £150 Ski / board hire £130 Lessons £130 Insurance £40 Spending £????? You'll also need pants, gloves, goggles and a coat . Sierra Nevada could prove tempting. I've had my eye on that resort for a couple of years Quote
snap1 Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 Hmmm, would be awesome but ur right a few pennies. Worth investigating though! Lessions na, that will save £130 Lift pass £150 wow, cheaper to hire a helicopter whats that involve just the lift up the mountain? Already got insurance including winter sports Hmmm lets start looking, broke the news to Clare, I am writing this now so I must still be alive LOL. Quote
Noo Noo Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 (edited) Excellent, you've no idea how mad I'm gonna be now. I was half thinking of going on my tod!!! lift pass is a killer but if you get going with me you'll need it. Noo Noo covers miles. Helicopter, no chance at least £300 per day lol. Dates and numbers. Give me dates and I'll start the bargain hunt. Last year was a roaring success. major discussion topic this at this weekends visit to the Raj I think Edited January 7, 2010 by Noo Noo Quote

Noo Noo Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 Colyn / Guys check out the Cleeve thread awesome I shall say it again DAMN I WISH I HAD A SNOWBOARD! Stop it. It hurts my head, breaks my heart. getting text messages from mates snowkiting around Kidderminster too.:mad: Should have bought a snowboard last year in France. Saw a deal going on a brand new Burton for £150 with bindings. Sooo gutted now. Quote
Spudley Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 Right. Time to get the £10 snowboard(tkmaxx last year) hooked up to a kite. Anyone else about today? Welcome to come and have a go if around. Thinking if crabtree not working then basing common or down grange. Quote
snap1 Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 Right. Time to get the £10 snowboard(tkmaxx last year) hooked up to a kite. Anyone else about today? Welcome to come and have a go if around. Thinking if crabtree not working then basing common or down grange. £10, II'll give u £20 LOL Would love to Paul, actually made it into work today though so can't. Now tomorrow is a different story, can't see the snow melting so wanna get out, presume snow is too deep at crabtree for a mountain board hmm wonder what would happen with and mountain board deck no wheels Quote
Spudley Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 would probably work with a bit of wax on it, not ideal though. Not much wind today, will let you know how i get on and will be around sat/sun too. Quote
Spudley Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 p.s they had a burton snowboard in tkmaxx the other day. needed bindings and probalbly gone now but maybe worth a look. Quote
Noo Noo Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 Stop it I'm suffering Serious point however Ocean Rodeo Discussions | Ocean Rodeo new team rider - Oro Quote
Spudley Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 No wind again today but lots forecast for sat. The powder was good over crabtree for downhilling but basing common looks awesome for tommorrow. Its pretty much virgin snow and the forecasted wind direction is perfect. Quote
snap1 Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 Nice 1 Spudley, so who is up for snow boarding and who is up for the meal where is Basingstoke common? Can u kite there 2 Quote
DjMoz Posted January 9, 2010 Author Report Posted January 9, 2010 I have a snowboard in basingstoke if someone wants it and is willing to collect it. It has bindings, one is broken but I got it working fine with normal walking boots last winter.. No wind today... :-( Quote
Spudley Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 Reckon snap might take you up on that offer Dave. Basing common was a great spot today, could have done with a little more wind at times and probably use the 9m rather than todays 8m. Snap got on really well using my board and Jez took straight to it(bloody youngsters;)) mind you he does snowboard quite regularly. Colyn you really should have made the effort there was a board you could have used, maybe tommorrow eh? Jeans were probably not the best attire but the fun factor outweighed the wet cold jeans. Paul has a bit of footage from today and should be posting later. Quote
snap1 Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 Most fun I have had in ages! Need to invest in a board for these odd occasions + snow boots! Spudley Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 looks like the wind may have let us down a bit but then again you dont need much to get going, who wants to give it a go? Quote
snap1 Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Right Vimeo does not work for me so I edited the clips and put this together quickly last night. Did anyone get out yesterday? I had an awesome day on the slopes with various sledges, boards, trays etc. Shall post a vid of that too soon as it has several comedy factors, 1 of which is me going though the ramp Quote
mark o Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Ghostly silence in here the last few weeks... so I'm thinking as there's more action on facebook than. Should we create a facebook group for us all? Quote
