don't give up just yet jim try the water ?

my knee was playing up on the land board but after getting on the water i had no problem which is strange cos you can hold a lot

more power on the water than on land must be the mainly softer landings although some bails bloody hurt LOL.

Heya guys,

Made a little trip over to ferry meadows at the evening and there are some nice grass areas there. Does anyone know of any restrictions to kiting or buggying there? Saw a couple of lads on a rage at the weekend so I guess you can fly there?

Cheers

Can static fly but buggying/boarding strictly banned there, too many dog walkers and random people walking around for it to be safe. Shame really but nothing can be done about it.

Empingham Road playing fields is supposed to be OK but not tried it myself.

as tobias said static fly only at ferry meadows,Empringham road playing field is best place in stamford just stay off the cricket pitch

at the top of field. not many inland flying site apart from the odd playing field but only room for 1/2 flyers also most fields r water

logged so not much fun at the mo, if you can get to it the coast is the best place (mablethorpe/Hunstanton)

Heya, cheers guys.

We usually fly at Empingham playing fields, but the houses around it really chop the wind up. We also buggy a lot at hunny, we were just looking for somewhere that might be more open that is easy to get to evenings after work.

Thanks again

langtoft playing field is good in a NW-N bit small 1-2 flyers

the problem is that over the past ten years the flying site's have been gradually unusable due to trees etc getting over grown/bigger

so most of my time is over at old hunstanton

12 months since the last post on here, so thought I would keep it alive.

I hope this post finds everyone happy and well.

Been an unsettling year for us but we are surviving ok. :)

We had to put Oscar (the original kite dog) to sleep a couple of months ago. There is still a huge huge hole in our house without him.

Vicky was made redundant from her job of 16 years due to privatisation of her NHS department. Fortunately she already had an identical job lined up at Addenbrooks and is loving it there.

My company has had a torrid/dire year but is struggling on.

Just had a cracking week away in the Peak Distric and had clear skies sunshine most of the week.

While up there we bought jenson his 1st ripstop single line kite (multicoloured fish).

Went to Ferry Meadows this afternoon and he flew it alone straight out of the bag solo. He then flew Vicky's 1.4m Buster with my help. Think we have him hooked!!! :D

I need to get my Frenzy's out and fly a proper kite again.

We have changed our car again!! We have gone max fuel consumption and minimum running costs. Citroen DS3 HDi DSport. free road tax, 58mpg, and free serving package. Smallest and most frugal car we've ever owned and surprisingly sporty.

To anyone reading........ How are you doing??

Regards ..... Nick :)

Hi Nick it's been a while since i've been on hear i was guna post earlyer but had a lot going on this end just lately

finaly managed to sell our house and got date to move into new house just got to go to sign the paper work next week as we only got just over a week to move

good to see you still want to get out flying nick but you know that you'll have no chance now that jenson has started :)

was sad to hear about oscar, he was the only dog i know that wasn't phased by all the kite's getting lobbed about everywhere in the sky and on the ground especially in the early days :D

work this end has been slow as well nick i've only been putting in 3/4 days a week on site at the mo, it's looking like things are starting to pick up but it's still fits and starts and the odd none start, has the increase of the rental market not helped you out?

those DS3 look really cool i like them, although where would you put all the kiting gear?

i probberbly won't be back on here till after we move but have a goodun if you mange to get out in the mean time(although it's a bit rough at the minute)

Thought I'd take a look in for old times sake and see if anyone's still around. After a lengthy break I'm getting back into it and have had a few trips to Mable with the trusty Bullets, and have to say the bug has really bitten again. Mable is still popular with lots of new faces, there were about a dozen buggiers out yesterday (and three kite surfers) taking advantage of a perfect onshore wind. Problem is I'm getting a bit too old for my freestyle flexibug, I need a cruiser now lol...I've got a wide axle on it, need a swan neck conversion and stuff.

Best wishes to all,

Chris

Me and Jenson were kite flying last weekend., him on his single line Fish and me on Vicky's 1.4m Buster.

Drove past Mike Rose's house on Friday and felt rather sad that he's no longer with us and wondered how his family are getting on these days.

That prompted me to take a look on here ............

Chris ...... Hello, hope you are happy and well. Get yourself a nice cruising Buggy, you won't regret it. Sooo relaxing to cruise down a beach. Seem to be a fair few for sale on the forum here. A nice stainless Buggy with big foot lights would be perfect for Mable.

Weaponxrob ....... You would have had a tear in your eye this afternoon, I had all 3 of your old Frenzy's out at Ferry Meadows to check them over. Even though there was the merest hint of a breeze, the 12m flew with a little work. 2 words ..... Majestic and Resplendent ;-)

Saw Carl and Jim at Christmas. Jim is looking as sexy as ever! Carl is mysteriously defeating Mother Nature and seems to have more hair colour than 10 years ago, can't work out why that may be lol ;-)

Jenson is now just over 4 years old. Can't believe how fast time is passing by these days. I'm in the process of trying to buy the company I've worked for over the last 17 years. It's not profitable but has survived this recession where most of our competitors have folded. Work is picking up at last and we are interviewing a new person on Monday. Been really hard to get someone to employ! Fingers crossed things are turning round at last with the economy.

Not sure what RiTchie is up to these days. I know he has a place with Zoe now near Corby, and is busy in the RAF.

Will go to Mable one weekend when I know people will be Buggying to have a nose and reminisce.

Sweet, the 12m is a real power house ,I've not flow for about a year now but itching to get back out there

But with a new house brings new projects but they could be put on the back burner if some one persuades me ;-)

Where have you moved to Rob, still in Holbeach?

If you're selling your Instinct, what you getting next?

Just ordered a Flexi Buzz for Jenson, Powerkite shop is selling them cheap.

Ps

My old blue kite bag with 3 Frenzy's and 2m Concept completely fills the boot of my car lol

Jenson flew his 1st Powerkite tonight.

Bought home a 1.3 Peter Lynn Vibe III along with a bar ( with a kite killer on it). Really nice surprisingly good quality kite. I was a little nervous that it may drag him, but it generates very little power and is designed spot on for kids and trainee kiters. Will probably get him a 2.5m one for the lower winds.

Well, me and Davo had a marathon 5 hour static flying session at Ferry Meadows today.

Low wind initially but the 12m Frenzy flew just fine. Then I cracked out the 7.3 Frenzy and 2m Concept and we had a ball. We helped a grandad set up a HQ Symphony for his granddaughter .

The cafe at Ferry Meadows has kicked out the franchise catering company and does the food in house now. The bacon and sausage sardines are made with proper. quality meats and are definately "Nick & Davo" approved. Jensons childrens meal was brilliant with hand made hand and chess Samnites, crips, home made chocolate muffin and Monkey juice drink (don't ask).

Only problem is the fact we are burnt to a crisp. There was cloud and wind but the sun was obviously scorching. There were a lot of very white ladies with shorts and little tops that are going to be looking like lobsters tonight lol.

If anyone reads this and fancies a static fly session, me and Davo have enough kites to go round to cover most winds, shout out!

If you have email notifications for this thread, I will post when me and Davo next plan on stretching the kiting muscles so you can hopefully join us.

Look forward to meeting you, hope you don't mind flying with a couple of old codgers lol ;-)
