m.klinge Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 Hiya people As Im quite concerned of my genereal safety I think its time to get a pair of better kneepads than the K2 I bought for my vife when she was trying to learn rollerskating So in short - wich kneepads do you recommend and why? //M Quote
.Joel Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 Which? Protec Knee Pads Why? Because that's what was there the day I needed them. Pros: The foam inside moulds to your knee. Cons: They do tend to move a bit if they're on skin opposed to pants. Bigger Con: I don't know where they are now after a kite meet Regards, .Joel Quote
SoutherlyBuster Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 Make sure you get the Protec BMX variant not the Street Pads. The BMX's will not get caught up in the grass when you go for a scud. The Street Pads will get snagged on the grass and rip off the plastic cups. The elchepo stuff you get at Rebel sports and alike will not last very long, but if you're despirate to go for a fly they will get you started. Have a look at the Review section, I have an artical on the Protec BMX knee pads. Regards, Norman Quote
JKS Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 What pads : Oneal Pros : Tried on 5 or so pairs - Most comfortable, flexible, practical - Very little in the way of line snagging points - Replaceable straps - Good value - Well made and solid Cons : - Bit tricky to slide jeans 'over' pads - If you put your finger in the gap over the knee then stand up you will pinch your finger and have to run around in circles swearing. - Bulky compared to Joels knee pads Marty Quote
m.klinge Posted November 27, 2009 Author Report Posted November 27, 2009 Thanks for your reply's Well i must say the ones i have now (Or rather its my wife's) a quite similar to the one .Joel posted - i guess i just a little afraid if they would stay on my knees when i fell and then get dragged @SoutherlyBuster Oh year i actually did read you review a couple of month ago - thank you for bringing it back to my mind @JKS Well i think theyre worth taking another look at - it dosnt matter if theyre abit bulky as i allways travel with my biiiig kitebag in the car having a few trainers (Again my wife's), all my safety gear, a couple of harnesses, extra pair of pants etc "If you put your finger in the gap over the knee then stand up you will pinch your finger and have to run around in circles swearing." - Well I fail to see the point of doing so anyway Btw do they have a specific product name to search for? Edit: A google search got me this er those the ones you have? More thoughs on kneepads are more than welcome, price isnt really that much of a factor, safety first //M Quote

The inevitable 'OUCH' dance follows ...... As for your search .... YUP, that's them BUT .... watch the price mate !!!! I paid about $40 or $50 bucks at the local moto-cross shop. 32 pound + shipping seems a little painful Marty Quote

m.klinge Posted December 23, 2009 Author Report Posted December 23, 2009 BTW I ended up with the kneepads from O'Neal - they feels good, but i dont suspect them to survive too many hard concrete crashes, but then again I mostly landboard on grass and beaches Hopefully my collar bone will be all mended by the middle of January so i can get out on the board again - damn i miss it //M Quote
JKS Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 Hello again Sir Sorry to hear you have hurt your shoulder did you break it ? Kiting ? Glad to hear you bought the O'Neals (Do you now see what I mean by finger pinchers') Marty Quote

I shattered mine into 3 parts and punctured my lung in an OBE from my buggy. Now have a titanium plate and 6 screws in me. Get yourself some good body armour so it can't happen again! Here's what I got to protect myself: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=7684&hilit=forcefield+body+armour Forcefield is a UK company, so you should be able to find a local dealer quite close I suspect. The armour is soft and flexible, no hard plates, so no restriction of movement. Quote

Well i do have quite alot of padding when i landboard - the problem is that i did not wear it when i went to the x-max dinner with work, drinking a danish alcohol called "snaps" made me fall down some stairs and break my collar bone when i was on my way home, (BTW nasty idea to hold a party on the 4th. floor) - as much as i would love to call it a kiting accident i dont feel it would be right (Its ok to have a laugh of it ) But thx for the concern - i will look into the body armour you recommended as that might be the next upgrade i need - how does it work with a waist harness? Right now my gear is made up of, hillbilly crash shorts and padded shirt, the new O'Neal kneepads, scrub fullface helmet and common sense Merry X-mas btw @Marty yea i can see how it could happen alot //M Quote
