I've been kiting for quite sometime now and somehow have ended up with a huge pile of kites. "Bought it a long time ago" is the response I tell my wife when she notices a new one. So the other day when I came home, there was I sticky note attached to the shiny silver Pansh package from my wife reading "How long have you had this one?"....crap, Got Busted!!
On to the good stuff:
So I spread the thing out in the living room to take a look at the thing making me sleep on the couch for the next few nights, and to my delight, the new 12m Blaze II's are built much better than previous model I's in both materials, and craftmanship. I remember my old blaze being built well, but not this well. The sail material seems softer, smaller nicer looking bridle lines, and the sewing and bridle reinforcements are far better.
The next day it was nice breezy 10-12 mph (not sure how many stone that is) so off we go to fly. I set up the blue whale with 30m 600# lineset on a 58cm cabrinha bar. A little tug on the power, and trimming of the strap and it sat in the window for all to look at. It is really a stable kite if you want it to just sit there ever so sharply pulling on your junk (climbing harness). So, I set power to max and started working the kite back and forth to see what to expect, if nothing else to try to get blood back in my legs. Really nice turning response with plenty of airtime lift with gentle float back down. An absolute blast to fly.The de-power isn't as pronounced as other depowers I've flown(ozone, HQ) but it is there. It doesn't turn super fast , but it does turn nicely for its size. Pendulum jumps are completely insane and Im 235 lbs (not sure what that is in knots, or tea weight). This will become my main snowkite, the other being a montana, so I can't wait to get it out on the mountain with a board.
Value for the money: Excellent!! Yes, there are better built kites out there(I don't think anyone questions that), but not in the price point of Pansh kites. I have lent my Pansh kites to friends who are experienced kiters, and all agree that they fly amazingly well, and after I tell them the price, they have all said the value is far beyond what they are currently priced at.
P.S. I am so getting a post office box to mail kites to in the future....
