    Kinnell Fusion 4.9M

I had been looking for a larger buggy engine as the winds had dropped in my area and my 3.6 beamer just wasnt pulling enough.

Found an ex demo, flown "a few times" Fusion 4.9 on Airboss for 90 quid with rucksack, checked out a few reviews and then clicked the fatal "add to cart" button!

Well 24 hours later it arrived.

My first impression was of the rucksack, Now,I know, I know you, dont fly the bag and all that crap, but lets be honest here folks, what would you rather have, some crappy ripstop bag with the name of your kite printed badly across the side or a sexy rucksac that looks suspiciously like a stealth parachute pack for illicit base jumping adventures! Well I know which I would rather have....

Well ontop the kite, Once unpacked in the home inspection area otherwise known as the kitchen and discovered firstly that ,the fabric felt a little wierd, smooth and frictionless kind of... Well that would be the silicone coating then wouldnt it!! All the bridles were sewn and the neat little velcro strips in each corner for filling your kite with sand and rubbish appeared to work. as did the inbuilt tangle points for fixing your bridles to if your anal enough NOT to parapack (incidently who invented that cause they are great!)

OK packed away again and wait for wind... First time out, couldnt wait...

went down to the seafront in 3mph and it actually went up!

Had to work it a bit but it did actually fly, then the wind dropped (iff thats possible at 3mph) and it fell out of the sky...

Oh well... have to wait again...

Not long ... Folowing day in fact... blew up to a healthy 15 - 20 mph

Well what can I say, the kite sat there gently bobing up and down on its brake lines obviously dying to get into the air. Its at this point I should point out that unlike a lot of other kites there is no brakeline adjustment on this kite so I attached it to a set of handles I have with 4 knots on each leader. I wasnt sure if just attaching it straight would lead to no brakes, lots of brakes or any other bizarre combination. so I erred on the side of caution and gave it a little brake, attaching it to 25m lines with the brakes on the 2nd knot on my handle leaders.

    PERFECT....

The kite rose straight up the window without a flicker! AND THE PULL WAS AWESOME!!! It sat at the zenith with absolutely no overfly and barely pulled, almost no lift! Great!!! Im not gonna get yanked out of my buggy the first chance?mistake that hits!!!

After a few figure 8s Into the buggy I got.... Dropped it into the power and OFF WE WENT! this kite is so forgiving its almost a samarittan! It doesnt luff, if you turn too sharlp and slacken off your lines soi it collapses it doesnt refill and take off at mach 3 taking your arms with it.... Its gentle but firm, treat it with respect and she is all yours, give it some abuse and she is still all yours!, Once the speed was dialled in with some s turns you could almost park the kite and just sail along in the buggy to your hearts content... My kinda riding!

This is an amazing kite! I now want the 7.5 which I understand you can get for about £200 at the mo! Its ALL pull and NO lift... If you want lift for freestyle this is NOT the kite for you, if you want masses of pull and a forgiving kite for learning OR cruising (like old farts like me! Lift scares the bejesus outta me!!!) then this is the kite for you. If this kite had even a quarter of the lift of other kites this size I would not recommend it for a beginner but as it is all about pull and so forgiving I have listed it as a beginners kite.

HOWEVER... WHEN I SAY THIS HAS BAGS OF PULL I MEAN ONSCENE AMOUNTS OF PULL.... RESPECT THE PULL FOLKS AND IT WILL RESPECT YOU!!!

Intermediates that want to cruise at speed but want a forgiving kite.... here ya go...
    Beginners... here ya go...

This is one kite I will NOT be getting rid of anytime soon..... I LOVE IT!!!

Nice review, Think i'll take you up on the test flight sometime soon then M8y

Top review, I totally love my Fusion 4.9 which tends to get used the most regularly. If you can get hold of the 7.5 definitely well worth it, it's gentle giant, buckets of power but not at all vicious.

Nice review. Says it all about the kite I've been flying for the last year and still enjoy with no nasty surprises when the wind gets gust.
