    HQ Beamer 3.6M

After seeing kiters out kiting on minchinhampton common, I decided that I wanted a kite. No ideas at first, all I knew was that I would have about £100 to spend and the ability to get into boarding at a later time would be good.

Shopping around on the internet it became clear that a beamer would be a good first choice, and after some live advive from the kite shop I decided on a Beamer 3.6m. Shopping around I eventually found one for £104.95.

So about three days later, a package arrives for me. It is a LOT smaller than I expected, and inside it is the beamer. Now this is where I feel I must make a small niggle. It had been descrobed as rtf (ready to fly) but upon unpacking it I found the lines and handles had to be attached. No big probs, just a touch annoying.

When I got it out into a set aside field on the brow of the hill, the kite got up easily, and me, being a total newbie crashed it into the groung about 4 times before I got the hang of it. This proves that it is a VERY tough kites, designed to take some serious abuse.

Flying this kite is a joy, easy to control, alot of power but I would think that for boarding etc. it would need about 17mph+ before things got interesting.

The kite is great value for money, and I would have no qualms about recomending it to anyone, whatever their ability.

Now I am waiting for some good winds, and then I shall see about getting a board. Expect a review of that as well.

dont be too down on the rtf bit this usually refers to the fact that all you have to do is attatch lines and handles and off you go. some kites come without lines and handles and so are not ready to fly, also some kites need some tweeking of the bridle to get them to fly properly so your experience was simplicity itself happy flying

Nice brief review, I'm just starting off, bought a 1m kite loved it, now for something a touch bigger, the beamer 2.5 and 3.6, also the rage was suggested. It's reviews like yours that help make my mind up,not only that but just look at the amount of reviews for the beamer 3.6 and I haven't read a bad one yet. Now I just ope I don't get outbid on ebay or I'll ave to pay the full price,

I have a 3.6 and boy its fun when I first got it it took me 4 a flying lesson. I would not recomend flying it in 17 MPH winds if you are a novice as this would be madness. The grate thing about the kite is that you can fly it with in winds of 3 MPH +
