  1. I am trying hard to work out what could have been the cause for any instability of this Speed2. We have flown quite a few here and all were rock solid. We had the 10m up to 30mph+ in very turbulant winter winds and it was as good as gold. It didn't suffer any tip tuck and wasn't lifting you on the beach when the gusts came through. The very first one we had sold in the UK needed a small adjustment on the Mixer which takes about one minute thanks to the new stoppers but all Speed2s since were fine straight out of the bag. Now it could be that this specific Speed2 would benefit from this marginal adjustment too but it shouldn't really need it as it was from a later shipment. So I am starting to wonder whether it is partly down to adjusting the flying technique a little. When the bar is pushed all the way out without touching the trimmer on the Speed2 it is still much more depowered than a Manta with the bar pushed out and the trimmer set to full depower. The old Speed1 was more like the Manta in its depowerability. This means that if you ride towards the kite or when stationary in gusty winds it is advisable to keep the bar a little pulled in to stop the kite from outflying its wind window. The minute you are moving along it should be solid and you can benefit from the extra depower and the huge lift this generates. You have to remember that without even touching the trimmer on the Speed2it has 30% more depower than any other depowerable foil(apart from PS3 and Pulse) The Speed2 has just been tested in the German Kitesurf Mag and has been verified as having more actual depower than any other kite in their test which included the latest Bows, SLes and C-shape kites. Regarding set-up time I can't personally see how the two kites would differ at all. Both have 4lines which are already attached to the kites/bars and are ready to fly straight out of the bag. The Speed needs a little pre-inflation but that is it. Keep us posted on your findings and we will do our best to get to the bottom of this.
  2. A friend of mine has a 13m Psycho3 for sale if you are interested. Might still be a little expensive compared to the 13m Speed though.
  3. More lift than you'll ever need but don't be surprised when you go a little higher than expected like I did in the video clip below and make sure to steer your kite in the right dircetion. http://www.kiteforum.tv/index.php?option=com_videos&task=show&id=499&Itemid=6
  4. Go to this link and have a good read through it. It is just a question of setting the kite up the right way and to make sure that it isn't too depowered on launch and that it is properly pre-inflated. It describes all of this in the manual but most people either don't read it or don't understand it, so I hope that this link makes it a little more clear. http://www.oceanside.co.uk/posts.php?ID=1&bid=2&tid=295
  5. Silly thread but it proves one thing. Seems like everyone who gets involves with Best has to turn into a wank.r!
  6. Look here there are lots for sale. http://www.oceanside.co.uk/threads.php?ID=1&bid=1
  7. Very smooth and lots of it.
  8. Put it on 4 lines instaed of three and it will turn faster.
  9. Get her a kite which has depower and get her to use a harness a.s.a.p. I taught my wife with a 4m depowerable kite and harness straight away. Because of this she didn't need strength but could concentrate on steering the kite.
  10. The Session is for a good rider who wants to plane as early as with a Flydoor but prefers a smaller board. It needs more rider skill as it is more sensitive to footpressure but more fun to ride as it is smaller and lighter. Because of the flextips you could actually bend in more rocker for choppy conditions by using a fin with more base curvature. Works really well but isn't really necessary.
  11. I had a good search on the net for the right bindings and found a couple of manufacturers who produce waterski-bindings which release. I opted for the standard Reflex Twinskate bindings which are very similar to standard wakeboard lace ups. They don't release but I didn't really find there was a problem with them. The skis are around 100cm-110cm and the water is a little softer so I am not sure whether you will need release bindings. It would only be a benefit to have a quick release on them when you want to stop your session. My new skis will definitely be much better, plane earlier and run much more freely.
  12. For anyone who is interested, here is a link to some pictures of the new Protos. http://www.oceanside.co.uk/posts.php?ID=1&bid=3&tid=233
  13. Made myself a new pair of skies from the ones I used before. The new ones are a little longer and wider and have a much flatter rocker and better edges. They also have proper flex-characteristics. Couldn't be bothered to brave the cold with them yet but I let you know how I get on with them in the future. They will surely be way better than my first ones. The first ones had round edges, mega rocker and no flex. They also had a pretty poor sidecut. If I get a chance then I take another video of the new skis. I will put up some photos soon.
  14. If you want to stretch yourself financially up to a 9.5m Sabre then just get the Flysurfer Speed 7m instead which will be way better than any of them and have more top and bottom end too. Price £749.00 and you have the bonus of using it on the water too. Easy!!!
  15. It is actually quite easy. If you are a very poor kiteflyer then the Venoms would be easier to fly but in terms of performance they are way behind the Speeds. So a good kiteflyer goes for the Speed and a crap one for the Venom. Sorry to be so blunt!
