  11. Litewave Vision is a really nice board and not heavy at all - I like the hooked rails a lot.
  12. PMed you
  13. and because it has the inflate zip in the middle of the kite wait a little for it to back-fill
  14. Stick with the shorty and neo T shirt.
  15. Pollution has been up and down depending on rain fall emptying the drains. The police are still catching tankers unloading!! We have a Shamal (storm 20kts) coming through this weekend, starting tomorrow. Can't say with any certainty what it will be like next week yet. I use a 3/2 wetsuit now for anytime after 3pm as the sun loses it strength and water is cold for those of us that are used to 47'C in the summer!! Shorty would make sense if you have room. Kitebeach is more open now as we have a VIP interested in kiting - it has umbrellas, volleyball nets and basically no restrictions any more, although nothing is written down officially yet. Kiting does go on there on Fridays and holidays now. Membership is not hotly policed but you could always be unlucky. Just say you are on holiday and were not aware of the rules! If you can use the same bar for your 10m and you are light then put it in - but I reckon your 14m should cover everything. What is your light wind board? I kitesurf north of Dubai in an area with an offshore island with some small waves (if there is wind swell) and lots of turtles around. Very safe horseshoe shaped bay with lots of different terrain to play with, including lagoons if the tide is up. Pm me if you want to know where it is and I will fill you in. Jebel Ali was the area down south of Dubai but that has now gone as they closed it off as they built the Palm. There is one small stretch of public beach left but that has Jet Skis at the weekend and is not that nice. Oman in the summer is the place to go with big wind and big waves!!!
  16. Those that live out there use wetsuits - most visitors are fine with shorts and a rash vest. If you have room for your shorty or are prone to cold, then pack it. Yes 16m kites are the most common - wind is 10-15kts average although winter months can have a storm - most consistent months are the summer months. Kitebeach is just north of the Burj Al Arab hotel. If you need to know anything else then pm me.
  17. No lessons back in 1999 but even then had 5+ years of powerkite experience
  18. The Blade 3 10.5m came with either blue or red tips - the 8.5m came with turquoise or gold - definitely sounds like a 10.5m to me!!
  19. How much for the Vortex 8m? Pics also requested - have pm'ed you my e-mail
  20. I know it can be done - even I did it for a while with Blade3s - but please no beginners out there with them!!
  21. Please do not consider an open-cell foil as a water kite - as a pure snow kite they are great but do not take one out on the water as you will have to swim in if it goes down! Only ARCs, Flysurfers (or other closed-cell foils) or LEIs should be taken on the water, unless you know what you are doing. As you have been talking about buying your first de-power kite, please no open-cell foils for kitesurfing!! (p.s. I own and have flown all different types of kite stated above and see each for their own merit - therefore although it is my opinion, it is unbiased)
  22. But for a first de-power - as was the original question - ARCs make a great kite as they will allow you to succeed at both disiplines.

    Finland

Well any frozen lake will do and provided the ice is solid enough (i.e. cold enough wnter!!) - there are lots of lakes in Finland!! I don't know Ruka well enough to say how close to the ski hills would be a possible area, but I am sure it won't be far!! Just use Google Earth!!
  24. Look for a Peter Lynn Venom if you want a kite to do both well - otherwise an LEI will work on the snow but you might need assistance launching and landing as well as really cold temps aren't great for bladders. My advice go ARC - great to learn on and progress with - also should be cheap!!
  25. G2 9m - say 100 quid + postage?
