  1. Hello. I've been kiting a while but haven't been to Coldham's much. I'm probably going to go down tonight - would be good to say hello to some of the Coldham's regulars and introduce myself. Anyone going down after 6pm? Cheers, Will.
  2. While sleeping i dream... Sun, wind, my kite pulling me. Waking, all is still

    Blade 4m?

My first kite was the Blade III 4m and I've loved every minute of it, from ripping the bungee out of the kite killer wrist straps when launching in the power zone in a gale (my god, did it pull hard!!) to getting head high jumps. Be ready to assume the position of the blade flyer if you get one (arms being pulled from sockets above head) but you'll love it. Just got a depowerable but no wind yet to really try it. More money but hopefully more flexibility cos can use it on water one day. If you think you might do that or you want more kite stability then think about de-power.
  4. I'm in a similar situation to you and scouring the boards for advice. Currently just got a BIII 4.0 and a trampa scrub deck, but on saturday there wasn't enough wind to get going consistently. I am thinking i need another kite to extend my wind range for light wind days and don't know whether to get a 6.6 Blade or go for a frenzy or flysurfer or something. As far as hooking in is concerned people on these boards reckoned getting a strop on the handles as a first step would be best rather than getting a bar. too many choices....need to try some things out as i reckon the largest part of it is personal preference.
  5. Thanks for the advice Gizmo. How do you set up a strop with handles? Where is it attached to the handles - presumably at the power end? Can you buy something specifically for the job or just use a bit of cord like a sailing rope or windsurf harness line? I guess what I need is a few more sessions on the board with enough wind to really get the feel of the blade in those conditions. The whole depowerable kite thing is a bit of a mystery to me at the moment too. Is the major advantage that you can have a huge kite and use it over a much larger wind range?
  6. Out at Branny last Saturday for the first try with my Trampa Scrub board and Blade III 4.0m. Not really enough wind so I was having to work the kite massively to get moving, but am now completely hooked all the same! I'm flying the blade on handles. Is it worth me getting a bar and trying to use my windsurfing harness at this stage? Is it easy enough to get a Flexifoil bar and get set-up? Do I need any other bits of kit to attach me to the harness? Obviously now lusting after bigger (maybe depowerable) kite too...
