  1. Hey Plugus, I use a MM Terminator (which nobody has ever heard of!) that I picked up on Ebay for 35 notes...it has really good back support that extends about a foot above your waist. Keep your mince pies open for a bargain one!
  2. It is a nice smooth run down there but the fields are broken up by trees so the wind can get a bit bumpy.
  3. Hey Plugus, Is your blade orange? I was out on Roding fields a few weeks back and saw an orange blade and a little devil...was that you?
  4. Thats quality you crazy mo fo!
  5. Same here....I want a Frenzy 9.5 now!
  6. I think that if the lightening can jump a mile or so from the cloud to the kite it wont have a problem jumping around the foam rubber handles through you and then to earth. They did an experiment similar to this on Top Gear on Sunday...its not the tyres that save your skin, I think its the way the car is built to channel the charge around the outside of the car (Think its called a Farraday cage or something)...And I'm boring myself...
  7. Hi Phil, In pretty much the same boat as you, I live in Loughton. I have seen people flying over Hainault park but I'm not sure that the powers that be are keen on kites. The Roding Valley flats (along the river Roding towards Debden) are quite good. Often a few up in the air down there and theres a fair amount of space for a decent run of the board. Give me a shout if you find anywhere else.
  8. If more than one of us is going to buy any new equipment in the same week, would it be worth clubbing together to see if we can haggle harder on a discount as we're spending more in one hit?!?! Just a thought...
  9. Should I try and stick to a thinner diametre rope? Will 10mm be too thick?
  10. I think this has been discussed before but I cant find the thread using the search function so apologies for the repetition! Does anyone know an internet retailer that sells climbing rope by the metre? I'm trying to make a strop so will only need about 3m or so. (Want to make 2 at different lenghts). Cheers in advance, Paul
  11. Pretty much any kite will get you off the ground if the wind is strong enough. Might be worth looking at the larger sized Firebees. I havent flown them but a lot of people on here swear by them.
  12. I've read that the 6.6 is not really a low wind machine and has the same wind range as the 4.9. Would the 6.6 be suitable for a summer kite. I already have a BIII 4m...would this cover a fairly good wind range?
  13. Its just that I've seen a few 7.8s complete flying around for about 300 notes. A bego complete will set me back around 380-400. Decisions, decisions...
  14. Thanks Diggy, And remember, "If you want the rainbow, you've gotta put up with the rain!"
  15. Anyone heard of the Maui Magic Terminator? Is it any good? Thanks, Paul
  16. Baring in mind the blade will be slightly cheaper...which gives best pleasure for your pounds? Mainly used for boarding, jumping etc. I weight 10.5st ish Currently flying a BIII 4m Is the Bego going to be a bit frantic in the sky compared to the blade? Cheers for the input! Paul
  17. Cheers Kev, I'm looking at buying 2nd hand and want to spend about £250. Would that be a reasonable price for a BII 7.8?
  18. Whats gonna be the floatier out of the BIII 6.6 or the BII 7.8? Which would you go for any why? (Apologies if this has been done to death!) Want to use it for boarding but the BIII 4m just isnt cutting it in these low winds!
  19. Thanks chaps, I'll have to try a few and see which I like.
  20. Cheesewire eh? I think I might steer clear of it in that case! Need it for landbaording...are all harnesses going to be suitable?
  21. Anyone used the Quadrifoil Q-Harness? I need to get a harness but dont want to spend a fortune. Any ideas?
  22. Yeah, I was serioulsy thinking about the Frenzy 9.5. Bit harsh on the old bak balance though!
  23. Will a jump from a BIII 4m to a BIII 8.5 result in me ending up in casualty? Is it too big a jump? I've been flying a 4m for about 3 months or so and I'm looking in to a low wind kite for the summer. Mate is offering to sell his 8.5 to me for 250 jibs. (Kite Only) What say you?
  24. Yeah, I'd like to have a fly before I buy but I rarely if ever see any other kiters in my neck of the woods. Might have to take a drive over to Hylands park in Chelmsford to have a butchers. So, I should narrow it down to a bego or a blade then...the frenzy will be too small?
