  4. Hi Ester, Its get there for 10am start 10.30 ish. see you there Dave
  5. Hi Beaky, To get a pilots licence you do a written test, which I think you can complete in your own time and a practical test where you buggy around a course with other pilots safely. Go to PKA web site to get all the racing rules. http://www.pka-online.org.uk/ If you have do not have FED Insurance that will be extra on top not exactly sure of cost this time of year (I think its £8.50) go to W & W forum and ask Sandfly he is the membership sec. http://windandwheels.org.uk/forums/ You should be able to join the club on the race day. To get pilots licence ask on the W & W forum to see if one of the trainers are able to do the licence. If you have not raced yet come along and have a look at what goes on. Dave
  6. Hi Beaky, Yes it is for club members see explaination below. This is one of a yearly series of five buggy Class 8 buggy race days we hold in the wind zone at W-S-M, we have had up 15/17 people racing at some days this year. Ability ranges from 1st race Novices (race licence required) to K3. Fed insurance and pilots licence are required. The current North Somerset council rule is that you must belong to one of the clubs allowed on the beach, so W&W membership £5.0, race fee £0. We will be trying to negotiate with the council to allow visiting Fed members next year. Pilots to be there for 10am and hopefully start 10.30 ish. Dave

  9. Hi, Sorry for the delay in answering my Internet connection is playing up at the moment. Mark, So will some of the w/w guys be missing the Ainsdale event Mark, I think Simon, Karen, Rich and Dan Brazer are going. Andy, What's needed to compete (insurance licence membership wise) and what time do you start. Andy, Fed insurance and pilots licence which you have. Are you thinking of coming Andy? Active, out of interest, how do you get the licence? Oh and dose that mean that the zone is closed to everyone else for that day, just wondered as I was going to go there on Sunday. Active, to get a pilots licence you do a written test, which I think you can do in your own time and buggy, round a course with other pilots safely, you need to be in a FED club. For obvious safety reasons while racing is in progress other buggyers need to have their kites down and be out of the way. So in between races you may be able to buggy for 10 mins also before and after the event as well. Kitset, OBTW..... Dave could u do my Rob’s pilot's licence on Sunday please Kitest, Sorry but I am not a qualified trainer, I am not sure if any trainers will be there, Simon was planning on getting back from SC and racing Sunday so he might. Rich Brazer may be back from the SC as well .
  10. Hi Foxxxy, This is one of a yearly series of five buggy Class 8 race days we hold in the wind zone at W-S-M, we have had up 15/17 people racing at some days this year. Ability ranges from 1st race Novices (race licence required) to K3. This Sunday looks like we will be down on numbers racing due to Super cup at Ainsdale and other comitments of members so not sure how many people will turn up. We are hoping to run some fun board races for club members in between buggy races so that should increase numbers. Hope that is enough info. if not fire away. Dave A

Hi, One tip use 5mm double sided tape stuck every 5 or 6cm to hold the peices together before sewing, keeping them away from the sewing line. They can be left in as well. Dave
  13. Well done to all the British lads And Karen. Dave A
  14. HI, Just to clarify one point Wind & Wheels is a Fed Club the £5 joining fee is only applicable if you already have FED insurance. I fully agree with Jaberwock that people should be told to get a helmet on and all of us need to keep onto those who persist. Tom, this is precisely why councils want to have limited clubs on beaches so that members know the rules for using the wind zone / beach . As regards costs once you have Pksf insurance and Fed insurance it should be only a matter of joining the clubs which should be relatively cheap. I fully agree with Chris that the best way of approaching people walking through the zone is to approach them in a friendly manor as majority don`t even relise they are doing any thing wrong. Approach down wind of them with care. My normal line is “ Hi there I don`t know if you realise but you are in a dangerous area, the council have provided a safe area behind the posts for you to walk through this part of the beach.” This usually works. 15. One cost not mentioned yet are beach car parking fees. There is a new meter at the entrace to uphill beach. £3.0 for 4 hours £5.0 for the day Dave
  16. Hi, As Rayens suggested Pro Tyre did a good job on mine, If you wonder why you get the shakes my front wheel had to have 80grms of lead added. Make sure your wheels are clean and free of sand etc. Dave
  17. Hi, Find a tyre fitting shop that fit motor cycle tyres they should be able to do the job. Dave
  18. buggwielen.nlrecomend M20 x 140mm Dave sorry Andy as already posted info.
  19. Paul, On barrow wheels I would go down to 10psi this should help a bit. The ripples on the beach are normally formed when the wind is from a off shore direction, you should get a smooth beach when you get a good on shore. Dave
  20. Hi Chris, Have look at this link it gives the basics. http://www.closehq.com/pages/chq_parakarting_third_lesson.asp Before turning down wind I think you need to kick the back end out to keep tension in the lines taking the kite higher. Then do your top turn or if you want to power away do a down turn. Dave

    PKA races

Hi Russ, Nice to see you back on line. In regards to the results Patience is a virtue lads. Dave A K17
  22. Hi Paul, Some pilots use the Holt Allen 40mm snatch block HA1375 RWO Light wt ball bearing swivel R2080 RWO snap shackle with S/Pin P7457 And a small 5 mm U shakle to connect the swivel to the block. Dave A K17
  23. Thanks for the info Garry, thats good, I am due a refund now. So W&W membership should be £30 Dave A
  24. Hi Paul, Glad to see you got yourself sorted out. Avspider, If you go to W & W site forum look in the 'Racing', 'Racing this weekend' thread there is quite abit of info there. Main points Membership fee is now £39 due to FED insurance going up £6 FED INS-£26 FED Membership-£8 W&W -£5 To race in the W&W series you will need to have a licence, we have a few people in the club who can do this and needs to be pre arranged with them. You can then race in the PKA club series as well then, well worth doing. The 1st W&W race 6th Feb was cancelled due to no wind and will be rescheduled. Next planned race day is 8th May and would be a good introduction into racing before PKA, super cup racing with larger fleets etc. Dave A
  25. Hi Mick, The wind zone is best accessed via Uphill village end of the beach. Majority of people set up from this end. Wind zone is to your left when coming onto the beach at Uphill and is enclosed by posts. The Saturday high tide 15.28 8.4m should not affect the wind zone. Food bring your own unless you want to go into WSM, theres none on the beach. You all should have your insurance and wear helmets as the posts can be dangerous. Might see you there depends on best day wind wise. Dave A
