  1. Thanks DaveyWavey, Have just PM'd you about this, just will need the line if the right 27m length, as have plently of stopper balls of various types. Will wait for your response
  2. Do you have any pictures, I am confused by the shackels on your bar side? By the sounds of things I will be fine to buy something like a 30m line to have smaller bridals on the kite. Appreciate the help!!
  3. Thanks, How is the line supposed to fly? Should I buy the same length and have it flying slack??? The adjustment for the line slackness should be at the Kite Bridal end?? Id this correct? Thanks,
  4. If any one can help me I am looking to make a 5th line to use with my set of BEST Nemesis and Yargas 9m to 16m. If anyone has photos or links to the ins and outs it would be much appreciated. My idea so far is as follows, please tell me if I am going wrong. I fly on 27m lines with a spining bar. I was going to connect both front lines to the depowerstrap and fix them there. Then the 5th line was going to be a 27m line run through a ring on the depowerstrap with a stopper ball behind the ring on the bar side. A line then would run through the bar to the safety leash. On the kite is where I have the following questions on the kite bridals for the centre part of the kite and 5th line attachment point. Should the 5th line when the kite is directlty overhead and fully depowered be ever so slightly slack, so for me to use the same line for all kites the bridal lengths just have to be adjusted accordingly? to achieve the slightly slack 5th line until the saftey is pulled? I was going to buy the BEST kit, but when the UK suppliers are charging double the amount for the same kit after BEST sent an e-mail saying that since they opended a distribution warehouse in Barcelona all EU customers would be able to buy BEST products at US $ prices it was the "BEST" thing to happen in kiting is not so. I ahve e-mailed BEST trying to get an answer but they appear to favour just to ignore me:mad: So have just decide to look for some help here, so any info or help would be most appreciated.
  5. Cheers, Was going to shrink wrap a secondary small leash and toggle onto the main line. Larks Head is Good mind you!
  6. Can anyone tell me how to properly attach a safety leash to a Best spinning bar? I do not want to use the spinning option, just at the moment. The right front line runs through a ring with a stop toggle ball on it and this is connected to the chicken loop. What I was thinking of doing is putting the leash on the toggle, so if you crash the right line gets shortend and the kite is killed. The problem arises that there is no stop ball on the line to stop the bar riding all the way to the kite. Is it a problem to loop the line through a stop toggle ball, at the required distance and then shorten the other front line to the same length. ??
  7. Hey There, You could ask Majek at Kite HQ Aberdeen. I had some lessons from him a month or 2 ago, even though the conditions were not great he sorted me out when ever we could get something done. So I think we went out about 3-4 times all under the same lesson. Was fine for me as I was based in Aberdeen, but it was only because of the short amount of time I had onshore from work, I was wanting to get somewhere with the kitesurfing for the summer. So he took afternoons of work when the weather was right. Still have to sort more lessons out when I get back from offshore this time! Leave him a message on his website forum he seems to read it every day. And he will sort you out or there is another guy who is a qualified instructor as well. I know they have jetskis etc as rescue craft etc...just get in touch. www.kitehq.co.uk/forum Inverness is only an 1hr 1/2 away! Hope this helps you out! Need to get as many people into it as posssible, hopefully there will be a few more people flying to keep an eye out for each other. Cheers Rhys
  8. What is the general view on the best buggy to start out with, I'm into landboarding but looking for that lazy day thing with a buggy. I often fly in fields etc, so was looking at the wide wheel options for the rough terrain....what difference do you find between wide wheels/Standard...worth the extra money?? Info would be appreciated!!
  9. Sprogg, if you are have a B&B there you would be the perfect person to post some info on your beaches on the www.Kitebeaches.com website. I live up in aberdeen and always looking for somewhere to go, might be good for a change!! Think about it Cheers!
  10. Do you know if there were any kite stores that would hire equipment? Will be working so not wanting to drag my gear, and just wanted to check if you saw several people there to keep an eye out on each other??
  11. Hey, Does anyone know of any kitesurfing locations or schools close to Houston Texas. Will be working in Houston and looking for somewhere to kitesurf a driveable distance from Houston at the weekend. Prepared to stay in hotels, just had no luck searching for kite stores etc in Houston or the nearby area?
  12. Yeh if anyone has info on Egypt and Kitesurfing I would be interested to find out there views. Should be working down there later this year and was wondering about staying and kitesurfing instead of flying back to the UK. Was looking into some of the deals done by one of the holiday people I found on Google, but if anyone has first hand info, then put it down here as I don't fancy carting all my gear down. Cheers!!
  13. Yeh best thing to do is check out the Kite HQ forum. There are a group of flyers that head down to an area called Queens Links which is at the mouth of the river Don. You will find guys flying there every Saturday and Sunday. Check out http://www.Kitebeaches.com and Balmedie beach someone has a review of the kitesurfing potential. It seems all the guys are into all kinds of kite flying so just introduce yourself on the KiteHQ forum...and you will be sorted!
  14. Fair points about not needing a meter, but ****ty weather in Scotland tends to throw in a 30mph gusts in 15mph winds when you have been quite happy only to be picked up and dumped. Seems all the flyers I have met have them apart from me.....only this weekend one spent his weekend in A&E after a nasty gust! Thanks for the advice, but not all of us are blessed with nice gustless weather.....Mr King of the Sky I see you tend to be into the race kites so may not have experienced the scary unexpected lifts you get from gusts!!
  15. Has anyone any experience with a good wind meter that does not cost the earth, but does the job very well? Please let me know what type and where you found the best deal??? Many people I have met recon don't bother...although gusts have caught me out too often and knowing what you might be in for I think is not a bad idea!
