  1. I'll be pottering on the beach on Friday. Managed to get the day off to recover from a xmas party on Thursday. I've just got to work out how to wobble back from Norwich with a sore head. Mike
  2. Sorry Stuck at work week, myself, but you're more than welcome to the mad labradors
  3. Nice one Lem, glad to hear you boys didn't disgrace yourselves. I'm looking forward to seeing all the new tricks they say you've learnt to get all these new accolades.
  4. Glad you had a good day, lads. It's not often the beach is that empty..... good old x-zone keeping it quiet! Anyone know how the Anglia massive got on down in the west-country?? Laters Mike
  5. I'm glad you had a good day, David. As for the advice, I'm only a beginner, so it should all be taken with a pinch of salt but those Peter Lynn kites are so stable and floaty even an idiot like me can manage jumps, although lacking a lot of grace on landing .
  6. Hi Lem Anything forwarded to the address above would be hugely appreciated. I really must invest in a camera sometime I've just about dried my kit out from this morning now! See you guys next time Mike
  7. What a great day's flying, today. You forget what a difference a Northerly wind makes!! Si, is there any chance you could email me some of the pictures (low res' would be fine) so I can prove to the missus that I didn't spend the whole day in the pub, only the afternoon! (mike@greatbircham.co.uk) See you next time Mike
  8. I should be able to make it on sunday. May try out my new monkey if there's enough room on the beach. (just picked up the re-sleeved lines today )
  9. I guess I'll be at brancaster this weekend. The forecast is starting to look pretty good and the tides are at a nice time as well. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/marine/tides/20040306/0161_20040306.gif Sunday might be wet but is likely to be a little windier. Good Northerly breezes on both days should make for nice long reaches along the beach Things are certainly looking good on these sites...... BBC Weather Met Office Fakenham Weather - More reliable BBC Tides
  10. Indeed it was me!! Nice to meet you, and will no doubt see you again. Mike
  11. Thanks for that........ if I'd have actually read a few threads that would have been obvious!! Yes, I suppose that I am a regular at Brancaster Beach. You certainly can't beat having a beach on your doorstep . I've only got into kiting in the last few months so I don't actaully know any of the guys who seem to come over from far flung regions of the midlands each weekend, but now I've got addicted to this sport, I'm sure I'll get to know a few of them over time.
  12. I'm off to Méribel in a couple of weeks for a bit of skiing. Does anyone know if there's anywhere to try snowkiting there, or should I leave the kites at home? I'll be trying it for the first time so I'll guess I'll need somewhere well away from people / cattle / chairlifts etc . If there is a good location to give it a go, skiing will never be the same for me again , I'm sure! Any info gratfully received!! Thanks Mike
  13. coupe-se, I'm sure that people will find out if anything has changed in the near future and will post accordingly, so personally, I shall continue to use the beach as usual. If someone does see anyone flying near the clubhouse then instead of looking unimpressed at them and carrying on down to the other end of the beach, talk to them and tell them the 'rules'. The chances are that they are beginners and flying there to keep out of the way of the more experieced kiters, like most of you. I know I was until someone politely pointed out this to me. The beginners haven't spent their money on all that equipment just to get banned from the beach, so please tell them where to fly or consider yourself just as guilty for not mentioning anything to the uninitiated. Thanks
  14. I don't mean to scare people, but I was just shocked as the sign was right in the middle of the path onto the beach. Hopefully, nothing has changed and folks can carry on using the west end of the beach as usual. No-one came over to me this moring to complain but I guessed that was because it was too early or they couldn't be arsed to walk through the rain to get to me
  15. It's right in the middle of the pathway onto the beach. It say's something about 'this sign being a temporary one until the new permanent one is installed'. I hope that you're right. It just looks like someone is getting snotty because of it's location in the pathway. I suppose, technically, the part of the beach everyone uses is actually in Titchwell, not Brancaster. I'm suprised the RSPB haven't kicked up a fuss really, as it's rignt on the edge of their bird reserve.
