    st abbs

There is a beach at Coldingham just next to St Abbs, I flew static there last summer it's at the bottom of quite a big hill so a sea breeze is vital and it can be quite busy but if the tide was out you would be able to play on the buggy without to much trouble I would think, just don't expect massive runs though. It is fine static, all the best PJ.
  2. Hope they make a good job of the changes, can't be bothered to put the computer on every time I want to see what the wind is going to do, much easier to call up the weather on the tv.
  3. What do you all think off the new style forecast? I think it's terrible, no wind speeds, direction, or isobars I've just mailed the bbc to complain, I would encourage anyone else to do the same, us kiters need our wind info, all the best PJ.

    New Kite?

Hi meme99, I've got a 5.5 bullet and it's brilliant in the buggy, I can't compare it with the big firebee, not sure about the lift, but flew the 5.5 bullet back to back with a 4m radsail on Sunday and the bullet pulled like a train, just put it in the power and leave it there and when you put it to the top of the window it doesn't boost you out off the seat. The radsail needed worked to give some pull, watch out for lift if you go for the bee, I got the 4.9 blade for static flying, because the bullet seemed too sensible.
  5. I'm a signalman on the railway, my box controls from Helensburgh to Oban and up to Mallaig, and has one of the best views in the uk, looking straight at Ben Nevis and Nevis Range, Stunning all year round. Bit limited for flying sites though, can't have it all.
  6. I use a red snowboard helmet, very robust but warm, always on the buggy and if a bit gusty when static. PJ.
  7. Hi, I use a 3m b3 in the buggy, once the wind is above about 15mph then it is brilliant, still need to watch the lift, it's had me out and I'm 16 stone. Hence I got a 5.5 bullet for the lower wind days, but I prefer the blade, although the big ones would have too much lift on the buggy " I think!" On reflection a 4m b3 would probably do the job of my blade and bullet? a case of 20 20 vision with hindsight, All the best, PJ

    Flat tyres

I got a puncture with my buggy on my first time out on the local beach, so I put green slime for mountain bike tubes in my buggy tubes and no more punctures, worth it to prevent any unwanted loss of buggy time, it's short enough with out losing any more. PJ.
  9. Thanks Neil, checked out the kiteatb site, what's happened to the weather? I could kill for a south westerly PJ.
  10. I've got a 5.5 bullet, not as scary as the size would suggest and plenty of pull, with a little bit of brake, but I find at a bugger to turn the buggy and keep the flying lines tight, not a problem I had when using my 3m blade, the bullet luffs then hold on tight when it re-inflates and your off like a rocket. PJ.
  11. Cheers, I must say that the blade is my favourite kite out of my 2, I would have got a bigger blade but I would have been out of the buggy more than in, so a bullet it was, great kite as well but the blades have the edge, I think a board is on the cards, fancy a flexideck, would this be a wise move? I also snowboard, last 8 years, would this be a help or a hindrance with kite boarding? PJ.
  12. Thanks for the info, just need to convince the wife it's another investment, PJ.
  13. Hi, I fly a 3m blade3 and a 5.5m bullet, question is would these kites be ok for boarding? I use them for bugging at the moment and they are great but don't know if I should look for more lift for boarding, so ask the experts..? cheers, PJ.

    Bullet 5.5

Got out with the 5.5 and the buggy last night, realy nice kite not as fearsome as I expected, likes to be kept on tight lines all the time, I have only buggied with my b3 3m before and it kept it's lines tight without me having to try " due to the lift?" but with a bit of concentration with the 5.5 realy works well, I did want a b3 4.9 but thought the extra lift would be a liability when in the buggy so a bullet it was, and even this lifts once motoring, happy happy, PJ.

    Bullet 5.5

Got my 5.5 yesterday from powerkiteshop, only managed 20 minutes flying in realy light winds, first impressions is that it wants to over fly the window all the time and had to be held over head on the brakes, maybe more wind would help it park over head? Will try again tonight conditions and wife permiting. PJ.
  16. I punctured my rear on Sunday of my flexi, I have the wide wheel version and fixed it with a bicycle repair outfit I also took the precaution of using slime in my tubes so that flats won't spoil my fun again I got it from the local mountain bike shop, Good luck, PJ.

    Bullet 5.5

Thanks Grant, checked out your comments on the windthings site looks like a 5.5 will have to go on the wish list. Cheers PJ.

    Bullet 5.5

Anyone had a go on one yet? If so was it any good? Cheers, PJ.
  19. No grass stains, but lots of water and moss, good fun but got me thinking about a bigger bullet for the lower wind days as the lift on a bigger blade might be a bit too unpredictable when trying to buggy..!
  20. Got lifted out of my buggy on Sunday into a full superman along the ground and through the big grassy puddles, the shock was that the buggy was almost stopped, I'm a big lad at 16st. and I was "only" flying a 3m B3 couldn't believe how quick I got lifted out great laugh all the same.

    Wide wheels?

At the end off the day I plumped for a flexi buggy with wide wheels as it was only an extra 30 quid and I'm a heavy bugger at 16 stone so the extra rubber will hopefully spread the weight, should be in the post next day or two from coastguard, all I need now is a day off work and some good wind. Cheers PJ.

    Wide wheels?

Planning a new buggy shortly, question is, is it worth getting the wide wheels upgrade when I buy it, I will be bugging on grass and sand? Opinions gratefuly recieved, thanks, PJ.
  24. I was in Aberdeen last month and the flyers were down the beach front at the bridge of don end next to the road, was impressed with one lad boarding with a b3 8.5 very smart.
  25. Great mag, gets the blame for me starting to fly, keep up the good work.. pj.
