  1. Sounds like Caution Kites haven't changed much since 2003....
  2. As you live near the coast you may as well get some lessons and go straight out onto the water. Falling off in the sea hurts a hell of a lot less than falling of a mountain board on land. Why waste time learning to land board when you could be on the sea improving you stance and technique for kitesurfing???
  3. Sandbanks NE round to SW (if there is too much westerly it goes offshore) Branksome Easterlies are best... Between bournemouth and boscombe pier - SW or SE (Southerly is bang on shore, westerly is too gusty) Hengistbury Head - any southerly direction or westerly (bang E is too gusty) Avon Beach ENE round to SW - but check the tides!
  4. I replaced my 06 Sonic 11m with a 12M atom and I am very pleased with it. IMHO it is a much better kite.... As you are in Bournemouth Area give Sam at Hengist Kites a call I am sure he has one you can demo. An Ion2 might also be worth considering....
  5. Whenever I backloop the centre lines on my atom do not untwist. Eventually I end up having to come in, land the kite and manually untwist them. I have added new ball bearings and a cable-tie to the swivel but it has not improved. Is this normal? Is there a better swivel I can use? This seems to be the only **** component on an otherwise well built kite....
  6. last years sonic bar did look like it had come out of a christmas cracker. An absolute joke....
  7. Not been to tunisia kiting, but I have been there and it is definitely the biggest **** hole ever. The locals are a**holes and everthing was a rip off. Even egyptians are less c**tish than tunisians....
  8. KSF is run by Fadi Issa, a pro rider who is on some of the early kitesurfinf videos (Awake is one that comes to mind). He is a really top bloke and should be able to sort you out, give him a call.... Unfortunately the asshole shack have exclusive rights to teaching Corralejo and they certainly use dubious teaching methods.....

    Poole

There is a local beach guide on http://www.southcoastkitesurfing.org. Covers most of the beaches in the bournemouth and poole areas.
  10. Most of guys at avon on Sunday are local and kite around Bournemouth / Poole area depending on wind. Have a look at http://www.southcoastkitesurfing.org for a review on local beaches.
  11. I recently bought a Naish Thorn (05)... Absolutely awesome.
  12. I think the centre in Hurghada has Flysurfers available for hire....
  13. A mate of mine runs a school called south coast kitesurfing - www.southcoastkitesurfing.org. He teaches all year round and is based in Poole, which is a great spot for lessons, due to shallow flatish water.
  14. A friend of mine has just launched a a new kite surfing school based in Poole. He has been instructing for a Poole shop for the last 3 years and decided to go independent, becoming the first dedicated kite school in the Poole area that does not sell equipment. Check out his site http://www.southcoastkitesurfing.org
  15. I fly 05 fuels, never tried the ATL system, since the launch easily enough as standard 4 line kites.... I have recently started using a Online kit which is excellent, and probably a better option than ATL. It is probably the best 5th line system around.
  16. Trye http://www.theyr.net - usually very accurate for 24hour forecasts (more so than windguru pro imho) - any longer it is no better than the rest of them
  17. Should be fine, my first LEI was an 03 Fuel. Excellent kites.
  18. From the pics it looks like it is made photons...
  19. I think the 17M fuel is a fine kite for a beginner, providing they have had lessons and un derstand the wind range for the kite..... After all it is medium aspect and suoer stable.
  20. I would consider myself a reasonable swimmer. One thing to remember, if it all goes tits up - get to the kite. If you are using an LEI there is loads of bouyancy there, and it can be used as a sail to self rescue. This morning my Leading edge developed a pucture - I found out when I crashed the kite about 500m off shore and there was no way it would relaunch.. So wound up the lines and used the kite to self rescue - no problem. Now I just have to miss any sailing this evening while I go through the painful task of finding the puncture.....
  21. I use one with a prolimit kite seat, and I know they also fit Naish and Dakine harnesses
  22. I'd recommend going to Pissouri Bay, Cyprus and take lessons from the local school, surf-cyprus. Waveriders can organise the holiday for you. Cyprus is without doubt the best wind conditions I have ever kited in, it is ideal spot for beginners.
  23. Recently came back from St Tropex on a "non-kiting" trip with the gf... Took some kites anyway and got out at a place called "Embarkation Beach" near Calvaliers, good wind with flatish water (it's teh med) I think the French have restrictions in place for the months of July and August so I am not sure kitesurfing is possible in those months. Checkout http://www.kitebeaches.com for other locations...
  24. http://www.pooleharbour.co.uk (Poole Harbour Boardsailing)
  25. No real restrictions at hengistbury head. You just need to be careful of the Groynes.... It is probably the least crowded beach in the summer. As for Bournemouth beaches - be sensible and don't fly when the beaches are crowded. Easterly wind directions also work well just left of boscombe pier.
