  1. There are many in the kitesurf world who are anti Best. Not many who feel so strongly anti Naish. Reasons are mainly historical but your choice.
  2. Sea Palling tomorrow. People out from 8, I will be getting there about 10. Black f-one bandit
  3. Well said. Death spirals never great for beginners.
  4. Fairly sure he stopped doing repairs some time ago. Did you arrange with him to send your kite? Did you send it recorded delivery so you have proof of receipt? Got an aweful feeling you have lost your kite. If you don't have any proof that he has it then its time to look for new kit. On the plus side (looking at your sig) it was only a Waroo......
  5. You didn't make a mistake with your surfboard, Onesize for learning then change as you progress. Same with kiteboard, as said above. Learn on a moped, then get a superbike.
  6. You do need a big board for learning, but once you are up and riding (between 1 and 4 sessions) you need to be on a board more appropriate to your size. You will make slower progress on a 140x41 at 8.5 stone than on a smaller board. Mind you you could prob sell it on after a few sesssions and not lose much so may be worth a punt. Probably worth about £260
  7. The answer to all those questions is "yes". Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear!
  8. I weigh the same and agree. At 70kg you dont need to go bigger than 11 unless you have unlimited funds !! In 2006 I had a 11m GK Sonic which was great and got me going from 11knots. Borrowed the 14m but that only got going in 10knots as it turned so much slower. So if I had a spare £700 I would have got the 14m as well for those few days a year when it was needed. However living in the real world I dont have unlimited money to spend on gear so just accepted that I missed the odd light wind session. 11m is my biggest now.
  9. Intersting review Colin, thanks. What about relaunch in 10mph? I think one of the reasons many of us are not so keen on light wind riding is the experience of dropping the kite in a lull and not being able to relauch. Memories of 17m Strike come flooding back.
  10. You could cut about 1.5cm off each tip and would probably fit then.....
  11. Can anyone else hear hooves?
  12. I don't like one pump but only had pre 2008 kites with it. Would be interested to see how things have improved. My last one pump kite's tubes were held in place with cable ties!! Thought they were put on afterwards by previous owner but found they were factory fitted. Doesn't give you much faith in the design process.
  13. If that is a problem for you then give up now!! What did you expect? Just enjoy it. Always a good reminder of the last session if you still keep finding sand in interesting places.
  14. Demo footage stunned me too. Can't believe how boring this looks. He JUST manages to launch it, nearly drops it back in, then goes on to showus just how SLOW a kite can turn. Looks like footage from years ago. Money would be better spent taking the wife out on 10knot days, getting some brownie points to enjoy the 20 knot days. Seems strange that the cheapest kites (7m) are the ones to have most fun with and these super expensive things are the least exciting. I know we all love to get on the water but surely we have some standards!!
  15. Flat all aftrnoon
  16. Sea Palling was good after 12. Nicely powered on 11m. Only 5 people out and about 24 degrees.
  17. One advantage of a leash is it generally allows you to spot who doesn't have the skills to body drag back to the board, so give them a wide berth. Bit like L plates really, especially at spots with little tide ( I kite Norfolk so Sea Palling about the only spot which can take your board faster than you can drag). Mick, really surprised you recommended a leash but then put a helmet as an option. Those of us who have been around a while know its either BOTH a leash and a helmet , or helmet and no leash, but NEVER leash and no helmet.
  18. Lost me there!!!
  19. JUst bring it to the edge of the window and pull on the safety line. Cant do it if good wind as these kites love to relaunch (which is what they are designed for!!)
  20. Why do you think that would be?
  21. I stitched mine, however i realised the stitching is just to hold the sleeving in place. The strength comes from the larkshead knot self tightening with the load, not from the thread. Try it without any thread in the garage, create the larkshead , put it on a pigtail and pull the line. You will see the whole knot tighten without need for thread. Thread just helps keep it all together. i spent first few sessions worrying about larkshead failing as my stitching is poor, but realised it really doesnt matter. Mind you, tight and tidy looks neater....
  22. Not if you use one of the many great spots alitttle further round the coast. Sheringham, East Runton, Cromer, Mundesley, Eccles, Sea Palling, Waxham, Winterton, Yarmouth will ALL be rocking over the weekend with cleaner waves than Branny. There's plenty of space on this coast!! And with easterlies you can even plan a long trip from Palling to Yarmouth as its continuous beach right round.
  23. Strange, Was it pumped up enough? Bandits usually relaunch well. If you get out earlier than most on a 9m then I'm guessing your feather light. Makes bridle stretch an even less likely option. Maybe marginal wind just a lull too far so relaunch impossible?
  24. Why do you think they are stretched? Is it backstalling when bar fully in? If so thenjust move the centre line one knot closer to the bar to compensate. Why make life difficult by messing with the bridle?
  25. If you look carefully you will find an "off" button on your TV. If you press it then you don't have to watch things that annoy you. Try it sometime!
