  1. thats a shame, that was where I had in mind as I thought Brazil would be fun!
  2. Did langabaan in Jan, spent a couple of nights in Cape town, didnt really like the city so wouldnt choose it as a holiday destination! Also nothing to do in Langabaan but kite!
  3. Looking to go Kite surfing with the girlfriend in December (Early to mid) Some pre requisites: • Needs to be some flat water as I am beginner/Intermediate and want to work on technique and hate being stuck with only huge waves! • Hot – So that’s Europe out! • We will be there about 10 days, ill kite 5-6 and probably half days so we need other stuff to do, she is happy chilling on the beach while I kite but then we want to do other things too. So I am guessing somewhere in Brazil or Caribbean? She doesn’t fancy Africa of Philippines. So any ideas on locations (not just country so I can look up flights), recommendations or “don’t got there” advice? thanks
  4. 130 it is then, just waiting for PowerKite shop to send my discount code and Ill be ordering
  5. Messaged Mike B, seems the 132 might be suitable for me, it will probably feel tiny after my 138 anyway
  6. Im about 68-70kg so from what i have read is that I should be looking at a 130x40 BUT I am coming from a slingshot ignition 138x?? so this is a huge drop down which is why I was thinking 132 or even 134, any advice?
  7. ok now I am thinking f**k the cash and am swinging to a monk forever any advice?
  8. So I fly slingshot RPMs and a Rally Beginner to intermediate - learning a few small jumps and some toeside Mainly freeride, often flat water but as I am in NL often places with waves Ideally Im looking for a 2012 model so I can get it cheap from either a shop or 2nd hand Ones I currently have in mind: Shinn Monk Best Armada v3 Nobile NHP fyi, I got most of my ideas from the kiteboarder 2012 freeride review: ISSUU - 2012 Freeride Kiteboarding Gear Review by The Kiteboarder Magazine
  9. I think maybe then mid to late Jan would be better where ever I choose! The wind seems about the same at both and flights are similar, need to decide on other factors such as going there alone, other things to do, nightlife etc.
  10. so they are both about same price to fly to, cant decide which one, if you had a choice?
  11. So after a thread on here and talking to some friends I think Im going to do langebaan in December or Jan. Does anyone have recommendations on where to stay, kiteschools, etc? Also saw there is a camp there end of Jan, any knowledge of these guys: Langebaan SA, 19th – 26th Jan 2013 | Kitesurfing Coaching Holidays and Clinics | CK Performance thanks in advance
  12. So looking to spend 1-1.5k max, and do 10 days, I want some flat water, reasonable nightlight or single friendly kinda thing (Ill be going alone) Currently have in mind to research: Kenya - no idea about it yet Egypt - is it warm? I am guessing cheap, lively? safe over there yet? reading sounds like unreliable wind though Brazil? Venezuela? Mexico? Caymen Islands? Caberete?
  13. I can get a good deal on a fluid ATV (good review of it here http://kiteworldmag.com/2011-kite-tests/fluid-atv-8m/) Basically I have a Rev 2 13m and a Rev 1 9m, Im going to replace the Rev 1 9m, initially (and still maybe) I was going to get an 8m Rally but this ATV is going to be about 639 pounds where as they Slingshot is about 930 (both of those are ready to fly with bar) So a search doesnt show much on here although found a bit on sea breeze as they are Aussie, but I cant really find any comparison with other well known kites, ideally a SS Rally!
  14. I have searched loads and everywhere seems to have pros and cons, seems everywhere is overrun with bloody windsurfers too! Anyway what I am after: * June or July * Good for a beginner whos just about turning and little jumps * Decent wind (obviously) * I dont want somewhere that only has wind in the morning (Sharm was like it in Sept) * Price.... not too fussed really. What Id also like included as some friends might go * under 500 for flights and accomodation * good for complete beginners The reason I am now thinking no about Dahab as everyone said its mainly windsurfers even with centre 4 and centre 4 isnt that great anyway? Ive also seem greece could be a possible or maybe even italy? Or do I need to go further afield such as Kenya?
  15. admittedly I am the kind of person who just likes new shiny things... dont we all? and 2009 seems so old to me.... I just really fancy treating myself, I am under no illusions that I mainly need practice and as Im really stepping it up this year I kinda fancy doing it on something new. Ill probably go Rally in the end then, I did have a North something in mind or maybe a cabrinha something as they also seem popular but I guess going by replies on here I might as well stick to SS.
