I found that removing the chicken loop allows an extra 4 inches of bar throw. A cabin ha bar can clip straight on to hook and release as normal if you pull the safety. Worked well for my lad. Only needed for a few months till they can edge hard to kill power.

Visiting the inlaws in Brighton on Tuesday and Wednesday. What would the best spots to head for? Happy to go waves or flat. Any advice apprecited. Forecast seems all over the place so local knowledge needed! Cheers

In my experience of French kite schools language was not a problem. They point at the kite you should use, point at the sea, point at their watch to show when you are due back and leave you to it. Micks suggest is probably your best bet if you want to be safe and learn quickly. Maybe things have improved in france in the last 10 years but I wouldn't bet on it

Agree 100%. Knowledge and kite skills are paramount. When you watch the most precious thing in your life head out on their first run you need to be sure they have enough control to come back! One thing that really helped with toby was reducing the chicken loop. Fortunately the Cabrinha bar was great as the safety released the chicken loop. The problem for kids is that the loop prevents them depowering as their arms are already stretched just to reach the bar. My other recommendation is spending money on a good wetsuit. We are also fortunate that the local kiting community keep an eye on the boy . Great support from Hunstanton Watersports and Hunstanton sailing club

Taking some kids kite flying tomorrow. Can anyone recommend a good spot near Bury that is a wide open space? Only static flying. Cheers

Atan Boots size T 00 which is uk 2-3. As new condition only used a handful of times. Kids grow too quick so need next size up this year!! New £48. Only £35 inc uk postage or £30 if collected at local beach

My Ocean Rodeo Pyro Pro got a tiny hole in the crutch. As I was wearing it teaching and often in waist deep water my legs got soaked in a few minutes. Very cold. Fixed the hole (had to blow up the suit and submerge to find a tiny stream of bubbles, so only a pinprick hole) but dont use it as a cant trust it if I had to do a deepwater packdown. Wetsuit with a windproof top for me

We did a downwinder from Heacham to sailing club about 12 then stayed out till 4. Sure we must have passed on the water. I was on a green bandit and toby on a 6m red park. Fab day.

Where were you flying mick? We were well powered up on 9s at hunny most of the afternoon. Would not have been able to walk to the water with q 12!
