  2. Just a few photos at the link below, unfortunatly I was the only buggy down on the beach this afternoon, and after a few hours I only managed to get the camera out and catch the sole remaining kite surfer, who did oblige the photographer! http://www.dbtd.net/photographic/gwithian090503.htm The JPEG's are all reduced down from 3000 x 2000 dpi to 640 x 480, but the quality aint too bad. There are not quite as clear as Monday's Photos as I did not have my zoom lens. Any comments (either way) gratefully appreciated. Enjoy Bowcaps

  4. james 998, thanks for the comments on the photos, the one attached to your post look pretty good air! The raw files I work with are in Nikon format and are initially at a resoloution of 6.1 Mega pixels and about 9.8 MB (each!) The work process is simple - 1. change the resoloution to 300dpi, this reduces the file size some. 2. then re-size the image to 640 x 480 dpi, this further reduces the file (it's about 1.2 MB at this stage) 3. save the file in JPEG format (about 80 percent quality) this reduces the file down below 100k, and at a resoloution of 640 x 480. Vipers

I have both a 3M and 6.5M Viper, the later being a new addition to the kite bag and only been out a few times but for me the 3m viper is great in mediocre wind, the 6.5 I have had out in about 10mph winds and it has such a smooth take up on power and boy does it pull. Great kites 'nuff said HTH Bowcaps
  6. bookie, feel free, I'm really pleased you think they are good enough for that purpose. drunkmonkey, nice air, the couple on the right of the pic look pretty amazed too! Bowcpas
  7. The kite is a 7.2m Blade1 (the multi coloured Blade, which can just be seen in a couple of pictures) I think the wind was about 10 - 15mph, but from the east so not very clean. I use a Nikon D100, with a 24 - 85 Lens It's a bit new but give me time and I will soon be upto par. Bowcaps
  8. Alas t'was not me on the MTB, I was merely the lowley camerman! I reckon about 14 feet and some points, and smoothish landings..... Bowcaps
  9. Having just taken delivery of a new camera, I saw no better place to test it than at Gwithian, Cornwall today. I have uploaded a few photos containg kites, scudding, buggying and MTB's to - http://www.dbtd.net/images/photos/gwithian050503.htm The JPEG's are all reduced down from 3000 x 2000 dpi to 640 x 480, but the quality aint too bad. 11. I have at least 4 of each (dogs and kites) and being married to a dog trainer I can tell you this, if a person or persons fail to stop their dog(s) urinating on your property, then they are not in control of the canine offender and your local authority should be able to help you with this. A common get out is that they inssit they were in control of the dog, in which case it's deliberate damage to your property and a matter for the police. The problem with repeat incidents is that once a dog has urinated in one spot all others (usally male dogs) want to urinate in the same spot to leave their smell /scent there. HTH Bowcaps
  12. Alas, I think Mrs B has finally given up, she knows I have no will power when it comes to kites.... ... yesterday I went up to Just Kites (Cornwall) with the intention of buying 2 stacker 6's for my brothers whose Birthday it is at the weekend (they are twins), and I came away with 2 stacker 6's and a 6.5m Viper. The sad thing is she was less suprised than me, she says "only 3 kites" you must be ill. Oh well onwards and upwards.... Bowcaps
  13. Buggykiller, i know you said a small van, but I traded in my 4Runner 18 months a go and bought a VW Transporter, it fits in 4 dogs (in custom built cages) Mrs B (not in a cage) all our gear and a buggy fully assembled - best move I ever made. Bowcaps
  14. I have to agree with Rayens - remove the padding and the Speed Seat is great. just my 2 penneth worth Bowcaps
  15. NytroX, I notice from your tag line you had a scrape with a 4 legged intruder. Just last week whilst on Gwithian after several hours of buggying, I landed my blade and was just about to secure it and startt packing away when this Jack Russell flew past me towards the kite, luckily I managed to launch it whilst it raced around the beach barking. It's owner turned up 20 minutes later and proceeded to chase it around the beach trying to catch it, I don't know how I managed to keep the kite in the sky whilst laughing at the owner. Having captured the mut, he informed me if I had landed the kite, the dog would have savaged it. ... and I would have savaged his wallett for 350 quid!!! Dogs who would have em? Well me actually 4 of them but they never, and I mean NEVER chase kites! Bowcaps

    Falmouth???

You don't have to drive all the way up to Watergate bay, you could try Gwithian (Nr Hayle / St Ives) or Perranporth both are huge beaches great for Buggying. HTH Bowcaps
  17. Jan, I have the Speed Seat - 1. it's comfy 2. allows plenty of movement in or out of the buggy. 3. Drains well when wet (i.e. a soaking through the sea or puddles) So basically it does exactly what it says! Works for me HTH Bowcaps

    hi

I have a Blade II 4.9 and it's great, but so is the Viper when buggying and so is the Ozone LD for high winds - different strokes me thinks! Bowcaps
  19. Adrenal1n, sometimes it helps to have a bit of friction when using harness and strop, you don't always want it to wizz from side to side. Just my thoughts...... Bowcaps
  20. On the couple of occasions I have been flying in Gusty conditions the tendancy is for one line to get snatched out and the kite simply flaps and drops. I would imagine a single kite killer would be more effective than a pair? Just a thought. Bowcaps
  21. I had ten minutes of tuition (supposed to be a two hour lesson but once you have the basics your gone....) at the Extreme Academy - Watergate Bay, and after a couple of hours and two or three kite upgrades (to faster larger kites) I was sorted, it's just a case of getting to grips with tricks now. Once you have the basic turns you'll find your own happy medium how high to take the kite in a turn and how much to move the kite into the power zone - post turn. Have fun. Bowcaps
  22. A couple of weeks a go I whilst buggying on Gwithian, a fellow pilot was pulled out of his buggy during a turn, there was no major injury, but his sunglasses snapped and cut the side of his face (only a minor injury). It begs the question, what type of sunglasses / goggles to other pilots use or have used and are there any noticable advantages / disadvantages that you may have experienced with them. Thanks for the input. Bowcaps

    Reverse 180

Thanks for the tips, I will endeavour to try again when I get on the beach on Wednesday. Bowcaps

    Reverse 180

I'm having a little trouble with this manouver perhaps you can help - start reversing around 10 - 12mph then flick the fron round and endeavour to continue in the same direction but going forwards. The problem comes when I flick the front wheel round towards the kite, once the front of the buggy has travelled through 90 degrees I change the lock, b ut always the kite seems to just pull me forward. I think it must be something simple I am flying the kite around half way down the window initially and it is roughly there during the manouver, but by the time I get to reversing the steering lock the kite is right in front of me in the power window. Any tips appreciated Bowcaps
