  1. Nice attitude, and a very witty reply. (not) I think it's a great idea, I'd buy that game! I need to see pictures!
  2. I think I've heard this story before.
  3. Your best bet is to fly some other peoples kites before making a purchase. My personal advice to you is the 3 meter blade if you have to get a blade as your first kite. Can you elaborate on your experience?
  4. richardc, Many thanks for the 4.9 video. It's one of my favourites! We used it at work today to test our software's ability to play wmv files. Our dorky programmers loved it. He he.
  5. I meant "park flying" as an umbrella term for anything other than sand. Grass feels soft until you hit it hard. Flying on the beach is the best thing ever. I'm blessed with living right near a beach and it's great. Sand is so soft and you leave huge lines up the beach which looks great after 4 hours of leaping up and down. You must get to a beach. It's heaven, Joelio! (unless your common is sandy, in which case, ignore all the above)
  6. Well, luckily, as we were packing up, a black line appeared on the horizon and before we could walk the mile back to the car, we got soaked. Proper, to-the-bone, icy cold wind freezing, soaked. So, the harness got a free wash. Which I suppose is ok. I took the family to the park and let the wife thump the stacker into the ground for half an hour this afternoon. Man, it was windy, definately not blade wind, it was lumpy as all hell. God, I hate park flying, I don't know how you guys do it.
  7. A dog pissed on my harness saturday. I was realy annoyed as I'd been realy nice to everyone else on the beach. The guy didn't even apologise when I shouted "Hey, stop your dog pissing on my stuff". Oh well, there's stupid kite owners as well, I guess.
  8. Agreed, Ozone lines are infinitely better. I'll never use the old, white rope again. They seem to stay dry, take up less space and are much lighter. And I got mine free (although I did have to buy a 4.9 to get them!)
  9. Lightweight! Well, I'll be on a beach first thing tomorrow morning in north Norfolk. It's gonna be 1 degree and damp. Brrr... he he.
  10. There's a line which attaches to the back of the handles and which loops under the hook on the harness. http://www.powerkiteshop.com/images/accessories/powerkites/accflexiharnessline.gif This is one, it loops under this bit of the harness. http://www.powerkiteshop.com/images/accessories/surf/accsurfbjharnessbar.gif This is the harness I'm waiting for delivery of at the moment. http://www.powerkiteshop.com/images/accessories/surf/accsurfquharness.gif http://www.powerkiteshop.com/accessories/accessoriesharnesses.htm This is the web page for this.
  11. I'd have to say generally, yes, a 4.9, but as always, try somebody elses kite first! (and usual warnings about initial attempts, etc, a 4.9 in 20mph winds is ok once you are used to it)
  12. It's called tethered flying. It's been done before, some dumb-asses go 60 feet up. I have to say it's pretty stupid, imho. Have a look through the forum for pictures of these idiots. (it realy is dangerous to go that high up over land).
  13. ...which is why I'm getting the 4.9 I'm not fit enough to fly the 6.4 for more than 5 minutes at a time, it's a brute!
  14. Oh yes. Wait 'till you get a go on a 6.4, whoosh! PS. I'm about to buy a 4.9, I've been flying a friends 6.4 for a few months and I need a bigger kite.
  15. Yup, I have to agree about the whole price thing. I said "Bloody hell!" when I heard how much a stacker was (then I bought one anyway, they are great fun to fly when it's gusty). Somehow, after the first purchase, the price stopped bothering me.
