Hi All,
I can concur with OldNick, REV's are hard to fly in the beginning. I'm very capable of flying 2 line kites and thought I would jump upto a REV for a bit of different flying.
Without trying to upset or ridical you OldNick, but if you cannot launch, just wait until it's in the air, you'll really see how little controll you have.....
Launching is not a problem and I have been trying the exercises from the DVD that comes with it. I can perform the first task (with some sort of consistancy) which is to fly straight up (forward) and then back down to the ground (in reverse).
I understand the principles behind controlling the REV, but if I try to do anything other than the straight up and straight down movements, the kite moves around in the sky, but for the life of me, I am by no means controlling where is goes.
I look forward to the day when I can controll where the REV goes Just need more (a lot more) practice in a nice wind.
At the moment flying the REV is like However with more practice I will be And then
I've watched numerous videos on how to fly the REV, and it looks ezypeezy. So saying this in tounge and cheek, but you bastards just like to laugh at us inexperience flyers trying to control a 4-line kite. (I laugh at myself trying to fly a REV, because I simply cannot control it)
One day an update will come with myself trying to pass on advice and help other beginners learn to fly a REV. I'm looking forward to the day that I can chat and get real flying tips with another REV flyer at a park / beach. However I will continue to persist with my complete lack of skill and try to learn. I'm sure it will be good fun, once I can control it.
Cheers All.
Thanks for the comment of "very small wrist" movements, the REV's are very sensitive to line movements. I thought I was doing that, but will certainly put that into my brain while still learning. Also noted, "No big arm movements". I'll try those key points and see if I can at least appear to be somewhat in controll of the REV.
BTW:- Yes, I did get a real REV
