  1. Thanks for the reply. I had a look at the video.. very impressed. I haven't done any two line kite flying yet and wasn't sure whether to head that way or still play with the quad lines. It would seem by some of the tutorial videos that I looked at, following your post, is that freestyle is done more in lighter winds so you can allow the lines to slacken off to do more advanced tricks while kites such as the Quantum are flown in higher winds which give you the up down and circle type stunts. Would it pay to learn more "stunt" flying before heading to a freestyle kite? or can you do "stunt" flying with a freestyle kite as well just not in higher winds? I am expecting to suffer from unexpected air/ground interaction and was thinking that a non-free style kite would be more robust. Adrian p.s. Merry Christmas again!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Hey, First of all, MERRY CHRISTMAS to all... About a year ago, I spent a small amount of $$$ in getting a cheap quad line kite from EBay... Now I want to look at something else.. Ive either been thinking of going back to a two line kite or possibly sticking with a quad line kite... After looking at BrisKites, Ive been thinking either the "Prism Quantum" or the "HQ Mojo"... Does anyone have any comments or suggestions? Im looking atm while BrisKites have a special price on the Quantum.. Havent seen a special price for the Mojo yet.. LOL... Thanks Adrian
  3. And where did Santa get your new toys from??? I cant decided between the Rev SLE or the Mojo... Adrian
  4. Hey, I've seen these on the BrisKites site.. Look pretty cool.. I've got a couple of questions.. 1. Are there spare parts available in AU? 2. Does the curved leading edge make it more robust when it crashes? (I'm still learning to fly quads.. Lol) Thanks Adrian
  5. I did briefly look at the EXP.. I've also read that people want to "upgrade" from the EXP soon after.. I'm not sure what the upgrade means.. Maybe the quality and/or strength of the rods etc Have you had any issues / breakages of the EXP rods etc? Thanks A
  6. Thanks Jason for the replies.. Since the ventd is designed for higher winds, does that mean it would be easier to fly in lighters winds? Or should it be worse as you wouldn't get as much lift from a vented sail? The cheap one I got came with 1/4 inch rods. Adrian
  7. Hi everyone, Just as an update to my previous post (Freilein - Windrider), I ended up purchasing a different quad kite to the Windrider. It turned out to be a 2.1m Albatross Branded kite. After some excitement & watchin some more online videos, I decided to give it a crack.. I was down the beach and possibly should have gone for a walk instead of doing a maiden.. I managed to get the kite in the air a couple of times, but there is definately a skill to keeping quad from NOT spinning.. I think the slightly strong winds didnt help.. LOL Anyway, after some more teasing on the lines, I managed to bring it down on the side and cracked one of the leading edge spars. Luckly it came with a spare. I have not yet had time to give it another go, but I have been doing some more Googling and have come across the REV SLE 1.5 with the larger (and hopefully stronger) leading edge spar. Now to my questions... 1. Would the SLE be a better quad to learn on (due to the larger spar)? Does the larger spar make the kite perform / respond differently (slower)? and 2. Would it be better to go for a vented or standard sail? (I have seen a couple of reasonable good deals online for both options atm). Thanks Adrian
  8. Hey Mick, Im in South Australia. Im a newbie. I was looking at a two line stunt kite, but the quad kites caught my eye. I thought it would be an idea to learn a quad instead of learning a two line then re learning a quad. I'll have to let you know how it goes. Adrian
  9. Thanks.. I think I have seen them for around the $160 mark with shipping included.. I the interim I have managed to buy another one for around $79 (inc shipping).. Just have to wait for it to arrive.. I might post some pics & comments when it gets here. :-)
  10. Hi, Over the past couple of weeks, I have become very interested in the idea of flying a Quad line kite... After doing lots of Googling, I have come across a lot of different ones & different manufacturers.. I'm not looking at spending a huge amount of $$$ at the moment (until I have learnt and maintain my interest. LOL). I have come across brand called "Freilein" with a specific one called the "Windrider". http://www.freilein.com/windrider/index.htm Has anyone heard or know anything about this brand or manufacturer? Any comments?
