    HQ Beamer 1.8M

At first this was a debate over the buster2m r2f or the 1.8beamer, and I went to the store to have a look at the buster and had a look at the dodgy bridles compared to the thick beamer bridles, didnt fancy being dragged by something supported by cheapy bridles which is what the buster has. I've had this kite for about 3 weeks now, and only got to fly it yesterday for the first time. Right... The bag, quite a comical fella actually- It looks like something you'd see a kid wearing out of school, big 'robust' "looking" zipper on the back with not much over half a liter storage, enough to hold some water in. but, I'm not after a designer bag I'm after a high wind, bat around the sky in high wind jobby kite for a low price, I baught it for 90 quid at the local kite store, mission adventure, (10% discount because I've spent over 350 quid in there) In the bag, a thick instruction book on how to assemble, fly, land, buggy, and a few other things. The lines and handles, theyre still wrapped up on the winder and the handles still in the bag unused, the lines look as cheapy as the buster bridles, the handles are very uncomfortable looking budget stylee hard plastic coated sticks, so I've been using my flexifoil lines/handles. I rolled out the kite expecting it to be of similar quality to the rest of the kit, ok so it hasnt got meshed cell openings, but thats alright it helps with removing sand when its wet. The kite is an excellent peice of kit, and well stitched up & good quality materials. The winds were ranging from 18-23 mph, and this kite shocked me with its pull, manouverability, and stability, out of the 4 hours fly time I got with it, it only collapsed once, when the wind done some random unexpected movements while the kite was towards the edge of the window. other than that, the kite is brilliant, but didn't like going above into the zenith for some reason. I was also using it with my mountain board, and I did get some good speeds out of it, the kite turns fast, thus you can just keep her in the power window over and over, and reach good speeds for a 1.8m. I let the Mrs have a go, as she wont fly my 3.5 bullet cause she's seen me face plant 1 too many times, so she had a go on the beamer, and the ammount of times the kite crashed nose down, dead fast was crazy, I thaught that the kite was on its last legs, but not even a stitch out of place. All in all I'm dead impressed with my new high wind kite for the price I payed. Oh yeah, the brake leaders even come with 5 or 6 pre knots in it for easy adjusting, nearly forgot I hope this helps with your choice for a high wind kite By : n00ber420
  4. After seeing powerkiting on the extreme sports channel I decided to take it up. So after about a weeks reading I was thinking to go for the Flexi Bullet 2.5.. Being me, I went for the 3.5 just for the extra grin factor, Nice bag, representing the great quality of the bags belongings. All colour coded, and the pre stretched lines were heaven sent, and very easy to set up for a first timer, I was tempted to go for a radsail pro 3, but the flexifoil 4 week guarantee just won me(which I didnt need ). My first flight with the 3.5 was in 8 mph winds and I was coiling out some good 15 foot scuds on soggy marshy grass, not knowing how to tic tac. my second day was on a high tide hard sand beach in Paignton in 25-30 mph winds, bad idea, It felt like I was trying to hold onto a bus in motion, I got lofted off my feet, landed on my face, rolled up and decided to get a smaller kite. The Third flight was in very low winds, 1-3 mph, and had trouble keeping it in the air, but when the wind picked up a little it was great fun, I'd say the 3.5 is a good beginner kite, providing you keep out of them heavy days, I learned the hard way I guess. The bullet being my first kite I have nothing to benchmark it up against, but I love it, and It's getting me through my early days. I'm tic taccing now and find it a great larf. Overall, I'd say the kite could have been cheaper, but from the original foil manufacturer what can you expect. Still, happy I didnt go for the radsail pro 3.0. As my kite collection grows, more reviews coming from me. By : n00ber420
