  1. Hmmmm. Flights to Dakhla arent as expensive as I thought... its all very tempting! Just have get the Mrs to let me have 2 weeks away without her. Was there anything at all to do in the evening? If I travel alone is there people to meet there, ie are there always lots of kitesurfers or is it quiet? Do I need to arrange everything before I get there or can I wing it on arrival?
  2. Wondered if you could recommend a school and accomodation. Is there a wide choice or just a couple of places? Thanks
  3. How did you get there. I am seriously intrigued by the place but it is such a mission to get there!
  4. Someone help me please... need to get this booked up
  5. Help! I am looking for a kitesurfing destination for Oct / Nov. Require flatwater and good wind. I have had three trips in the last 18months so far but only managed 18hours of wind and still not indepedent. Need somewhere can I can have a good couple of weeks of solid kiting. Look forward to hearing your suggestions!!! Thank

  9. Hi, I am from Birmingham and having achieved level 1+2 and some 3 IKO. I need to get some practice in by myself. I was thinking of Ainsdale as its the closest beach to me. I wondered if someone with a similar level fancied going through the Faceplant pain barrier together. Ideally I would like to fit a session in midweek (cant do this Thurs). If someone is based locally can share travel or happy enough to meet there. PM if you are interested. Thanks
  10. Hey Luko, I'll give you my knowledge. Was there in March, went by myself purely for kitesurfing. How far is the kite junkies place from the centre of sharm? 15km or so... its a taxi drive but the taxis are cheap. I don't need any tuition but want to ride at a beach that is not busy is it worth buying the service packet for this? I had the service pack. It really depends on where you are staying really. You do need it if you are going to hang out at the centre (which I did quite often). How many beaches are there?, and which ones are best (am looking for flat water lagoons with a nice sandy bottom, that aren't packed with hundreds of other kiters). At kitejunkies you have a dedicated part of the beach. Its not a lagoon as such but the sea is only waste deep for around a 500m out. There is plenty of room. Do most people stay in the centre or the north end by the regency, and how far is the regency from kitejunkies and the centre of town. Regency is about 1-2km from the centre of Nabq. It wasnt exactly "kicking" in Nabq. On the whole its just Hotel after Hotel. A handful of bars including an english pub showing football. Not cool, chilled out or trendy places though Are the beaches affected by tides cos it looks like i may head out at the end of july when there are morning low tides. Not at all Any reccomendations? Pros I can honestly say that Kitejunkies is a well run and incredibly friendly school and centre. I hung out there playing poker most days with instructors and kiters, generally just chilling out and chatting. I cant knock Kitejunkies at all. Cons The biggest problem is the wind. I went for 9 days and only had two kiting sessions totalling 8 hours. It was annoying as a resort holiday is not the kind of break I like, its not a kite location per se, and dont expect to be sharing with other Kitesurfer at whatever hotel you are staying at. I got a good deal but I would have been very pissed off if I had paid £1000. Wind is inconsistant in Nabq, there is no season as such - its is down to luck. The week after I left they have 5 days of 20knot wind. Tragic news Good luck
  11. Hey Stompin, Whats Borth like for beginners? Would be keen on a lagoon that I can practice, faceplant, stand up and start again ideally. BRS ? what or where is that? I know I said I wasnt about this weekend on PM but I am looking to go out weekly - pref weekdays - so the girlfriend doesnt moan too much during the weekend! look forward to your feedback
  12. They are my haunts + pat kav, although regularly role into to Victoria too. Dont spose you know any kitesurfers, or wannabe kitesurfers in the area?
  13. Will do... Usually find me propping a bar up in Kings Heath / Moseley. Part of the reason I need a more positive hobby Where you based, and where and what do you fly?
  14. Hi, I live in Birmingham and have dipped my toe in kitesurfing, having a 6 or so lessons over the last 12 months. I am basically looking for someone in a similar situation to myself who looking to travel to the coast of kitesurf. I have done all the safety training and was traveling in both directions, although not as fluidly as I would like. (Not down wind yet) Lacking the confidence to bite the bullet and head off by myself to tone my skills. Just worried about being blown off to Ireland:eek: I am free to go during the week or at weekends... perks of self employment. Got my own kit and happy to drive and share petrol. Open to recommendations on location as I have only kitesurfed abroad but Ainsdale seems as good a location as any from Birmingham... or Aberdovey (but that is 2-3 hours drive). Feel free to PM me.
