  1. Great hotel and town, been twice now, and if I hadn't knocked the misses up, I'd have been back this year. On the tides, it is worth checking. The lagoon at the rear of the hotel isn't really kitable if the tide is out, although the deep water Chanel is fine. Also, wind is generally in the morning, dropping at lunchtime. Best to try and pick a week when high tide is mid morning, you can check here: http://www.kitepower-elgouna.com/en/location/tidal_calendar What we found was to go for early breakfast and then get out on the water about 8am. Come back in about 9.30 and go for second breakfast before getting in a final session for the day. Spend the rest of the afternoon around the pool drinking cold beers!
  2. Definately need a life jacket as I bet that thing doesn't self right if you turn it over!
  3. How many times do you reckon he said 'watch this!' during the filming of that?
  4. It's a real picture. I had just set the kite up to hot launch of the sand when some idiot arrived in his Audi, parked on my lines and then tried running off with my board and gal, not best impressed I tell ya. And we'd thought it was only the other kiters would were theiving barstools!
  5. If you want to keep the short, go with these http://www.tinyurl.com/os2atcp Stealth Look is where it's at this summer! And you get the best of both worlds.
  6. You'll still need a winter wettie, something like a 5/3mm. Kite's wise, depending on weight 9m & 12m should cover most weather this time of year.
  7. If the fun doesn't fit, why don't you send it back to the manufacturers and get them to sort it?
  8. Was fitted by the consultant, but wasn't covered under my private healthcare, so had to pay for it. Consultant did it at cost, which was £350 was was cheaper than an off the shelf job. Not allowed to wear it for rugby due to the IRB rules on clothing/ equipment. Also not sure why the knee man wants me to wear it for two years kiting/ snowboarding. Can fully understand with skiing, but with a board both feet are locked in so twisting a knee out is unlikely, hence the reason I'll probably drop it kiting at some point next year. Had it fitted over my wetsuit for two reasons. Going to wear it more kiting than snowboarding and as it was fitted in August, going to need it more over the winter than next spring. Also, my legs aren't quite back to full size just yet. Squatting 140kg but was at 190kg before I blew my knee, so wanted a bit of room in it to grow into. That way, if I want to wear it in the summer once the shortie is out, it should be fine. Off snowboarding in January, so will probably buy a sleeve to wear under it.
  9. My consultant said I needed to wear a brace for kiting and snowboarding for the next 2 years! Back kiting (with brace) and playing rugby (no brace) and will wear it when I go away snowboarding in January. Had my brace custom fitted, Donjoy Defience, over my wet suit as I'll probably stop wearing for kiting in the spring once I'm out of the winter suit.
  10. Experimented with several sizes, settled on the 8ft bar option.
  11. No need for anything more that 18m with 4m extensions, turns on a six pence.
  12. Frodo and Sam give kiting ago against GanDalfs wishes
