  1. I'm going to clam that buster! - 1.4m buster - $60. Done! (I take it has with lines & handles) PM me your bank details (:
  2. Yes, yes. Fair enough. But I will point out that once we finally got a price for the "S2 Dune" and a measurement on the S1's rear axle I was actually pretty quick
  3. I've sent an email asking what the best way to order would be as I'm also after a couple of harness D-Rings (which aren't on the website) and a Griffin chicken loop which Griffin say they have an upgrade offer for.
  4. Hope I'm not spamming the thread too much, but here are a few snaps from today: Squeezing out the gate Parking bay at work Out to lunch Re-fueling Back Home Again With all my favourite toys (: So; One Sysmic S1 with a 145L bag it you could be so kind And with any luck I'll be able to end this month with exactly the same number of buggies I started it with
  5. Okay, after towing my Zebra around with a plank of wood for the day I'm pleased to announce it all worked flawlessly. . . . So, BUGGY ME UP JAS!!!
  6. Did you get a reply Mr Sylk?
  7. Yeah, the idea is to tow the BFs on the road. Beach racers have a Speed Index of "F" (meaning they are rated for 80km/h travel) and that's a big part of the reason I'm getting them. Ideally the tyres are meant to be capable of "Highway Speeds" but I'm hoping "Index F" will be sufficient. Swapping wheels over would be a possibility (I think). Currently I'm swapping axles as my "Highway Axle" has different wheel attachments (as I wasn't happy running plastic barrows on the road), but highway tyres on 3x8 Sysmics may well be a viable option. For now though I'm going to run with the "BeachRacers on the road" technique Also, rather than loading the buggy onto a trailer the buggy will actually be the trailer its self, so unfortunately "wheels off" is not an option. Good suggestion though. Here's a photo of my current setup: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/D ... directlink
  8. Yeah, good call. I'm currently trying to work out if I think I'll be able to manage a 1.8m wide trailer. (and by the time you add wheel arches it probably will be more like 1.9) Regulations require that a trailer be no more than 2.5m in width, so we're fine there We have a pretty narrow driveway but I measured it tonight. 2.2m at the narrowest point, so we're fine there And I'm going to spend tomorrow riding about with a 1.9m length of wood strapped to my current trailer I'll report back again tomorrow. (: (: (:
  9. Not sure what they have in WA but Jas at BrisKites (in Brisbane) is pretty cool, and if you order over $300 worth of gear he may well ship them to Perth for you for free The other main shop (also on the east coast) is Kite Power. Hope that helps (:
  10. Thanks Jas, love you work Oow, 1.8m, that's a damn wide wheel base. Man, the "track width" on our Nissan Pulsar is 1.47m. Could I possibly manage 1.8 on a motorbike - lord knows I want to. Arrr - Just when I thought I had it sorted.
  11. And one last configuration to exhaust the set :s Would it be possible to upgrade a Steele S2 to be a Steele S2 Dune? I know the forks are only available in Stainless and a mild bug with stainless forks may look a bit odd but would it be an option? Assuming the same "upgrade cost" this would make a Mild Dune $1547.10. Add potentially a +$90 for 8x8's, and that looks like a damn good buy!
  12. WooHoo! This is looking good (: (: (: Wonderful! Really the only dimension of concern is the "wall to wall" breadth of the rear wheels (with 8x8 Beach racers). No need to assemble a whole bug or anything, just wanting to workout how far out the sides of my motorbike I can expect an S1 to hang. I've been towing my extra wide Zabra axle around lately and at 1.65m it has been fine, so if the S1's 1.6m width is indeed "wall to wall" then I dare say were onto a winner! If instead it turns out to be pushing closer to 2m than perhaps I'll need to reconsider. Great! I see you have the 80L bad listed on the website but wasn't sure about the 145L. So just the all important: "Emma Chizet"? That's exactly what I was talking about! So according to the site it appears to be a $300 upgrade from an "S2 "to the "S2 Dune" which is right on the money! (much, much better than the $800 mentioned previously). Would it be presumptuous of me to assume you could to the same "+$90" to get the 8x8 rims as available on the S1? Anyway, really keen now! Only problem is that with the "S2 Dune" now at a much more reasonable $1889.10 (inc. XK discount) - and possibly $1979.10 with 8x8's the "S2 Dune"s are suddenly looking a whole lot more attractive. I still reckon I'll go for the S1 though because, well, that's just the one I wanna get! Understood (and much appreciated). So as soon as your able to confirm the "wall to wall" breadth of an S1 (with 8x8 BeachRacers) I'll eagerly fling you a whole bucket load of dosh All the best, Slarti. (:
  13. Originally Jas said I'd be able to choose between an S1 and what the Buggy Kite Shop are calling the "S2 Dune" once they'd arrived, though I'm expecting to get an "S1". And no one has placed a deposit. In fact if I'm not mistaken no-one else has placed an order either (not sure about that though). The last email exchange a Jas and I had was when I was seriously considering buying Andy666's buggy, then buying an S1 with out wheels when they finally arrive, and went: From which I haven't heard back. Anyway, at that rate I decided against buying Andy's bug. From this exchange I kind of assumed we'd left it at an order for an "S1", and who knows what's happening with the 145L bag. The Buggy Kite Shop have them listed at $70 US but I guess we'll have to cross that bridge after the buggies have arrived.
  14. Why do people keep saying that??? Depending on price and dimensions I'm after either an "S1" or what the Buggy Kite Shop call the "S2 Dune" and this has been discussed ad nauseum! Last place the discussion was at was that it appeared the "S2 Dune" was in fact going to cost more than an "S1" and the maximum dimension of the "S1" was 1.6m in width, and I said as clearly as I possibly could if this were the case that I would be after the "S1". What more do you want!!! I kind of feel I'm getting people off side here for asking what really are fundamental questions. I am seriously being as clear and straight forward as I possibly can and really don't feel I should be appoligising for what are quite rudimentary and straight forward inquiries but keep feeling for some reason my asking is being taken as being antagonistic. I don't know if your just fishing to get a raise but in my opinion I have been extremely patient and if anything Jas should be the one using the apologetic tone. Anyway, yes I want to get one of the Sysmic buggies and if it could be here for Kingston it would be really good.
  15. Oow, oow. I got top of the list Even ahead of yourself Sinbad
  16. Any word? Should I start abandoning hopes of having a shiny new bug for Kingston ?
  17. Hey BigBear. I copied the image of the Synergy for you and put it on my Picasa account: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/7 ... directlink
  18. Yeah, The Sweet Swede (jazzp) and I headed down and met up with "Brazen" for a sunset session. Winds were light but good. A little fickle but on the whole pretty good really. I decided to break out my 5m Panch Sprint at first, but it didn't take long for me to think better of that decision and elected for a 4m Beamer instead. 'Brazen' couldn't hang round for long and 'jazzp' was having some 'speed wobble' issues with his land board so I took the 4m Beamer on a 'mouth run' on my lonesum, which was fine, but would have been better with company (and would have been better with something that wasn't a Beamer ). Clive, the soft sand really is a no-goer I'm afraid, at lease on barrows it isn't. The line you have to take basically follows the waterline the whole way. Sometimes, down near the mouth itself, people set up surf fishing so you have to vear 'inland' to get around there rods and lines. If their rods are set up all the way back in the soft sand, once you've passed you have to get out and hump your buggy back to the waters edge to continue on but it's not too hard (assuming you can control your kite with one hand and drag your buggy with the other). If you're not so adept at one hand flying (or your buggy weighs say 100kg or so ) than you may need to land your kite, stake the handles, drag your bug then go back and pick up your kite again. Down by the mouth even wet sand right on the waters edge can be surprisingly soft but I've always been able to make it through - though it's easy to get swamped by the occasional wave if your not being attentive . If you'd like to see the exact line you'll find a KML trace of one of the runs we did on the firs page, but basically it just follows the waters edge right the way down. There are plenty of 4x4s on the beach these days as the fishing (and cockles) are pretty good but there not too much of a problem. As much as people seem to like to bitch about others I find as a general rule most people are in fact fairly accommodating and the 4x4 drivers are no exception (other than those mongrels who stole my PL bug last weekend ). The 4x4 drivers are usually fairly courteous and if anything are somewhat intrigued by us buggyers and they usually slow down as they pass and generally keep an eye out. Even though there can be a lot of then down there on the weekends there really not a problem.
  19. *delete* - that post was meant to be in a different thread :s
  20. Fair enough. I had wondered that and read through his (assume his) previous posts but didn't see anything to tip me of as such, but there you have it, plane as the nose on my bug splattered face - "Website Sponsor" in a bright green banner
  21. Sure, the price drop is no doubt related to Christmas but the original listing was posted in June. (or did I miss some sarcasm again there). Just curious as to why jampony was moving them on in the first place. Best of luck with it all jampony. Looks like some really good kites you have there
  22. Yeah, must say I was tempted by those Vapours myself but I still struggle with race kites as it is. Maybe in a year or two I'd be looking to fill my quiver with Vapours (or what ever they have next) but at present I find even my Panch Sprint a bit of a handful. Good buys though for anyone ready for them. What's the reason your off loading 'jampony'?
  23. Looks like Sunday might be the call after all
  24. Still sketching plans but it looks like we'll venture down at least on Saturday. Knowing us we'll probably arrive mid to late afternoon and generally mess about between the car park and the mouth. I'll post more details as plans progress
