  1. MBS Comp 90 (Without bag) - £100 MBS board bag - £50 Both together £140 I've had the board and bag since new. Neither have seen nearly enough use! Board, bearings, trucks and tires all good. Overall it's in really good condition. Bag had a couple of minor nicks in the fabric which have been repaired with Dacron tape Ideally it'll be collected from Eastbourne but could post at cost.
  2. You'll also find that when there is wind, some directions won't be suitable for where you fly. Depends where you are but it's all stuff to learn. Just take it slow. It is very dependent on conditions which can be really frustrating. But you'll learn after a load of times of packing all your stuff in to your car, getting to your flying spot, setting up and it either being too mental to fly or no wind at all. Some days it'll be spot on though and it'll be a good day! As has already been said, if you can find some others that are flying, go and speak to them. You've maybe seen people kiting or landboarding to get you interested in the first place?
  3. Thought that might be the case! Oops. Yes, depower bar doesn't go on a fixed bridle kite. It probably would have flown but it's not ideal. You need a harness for a depower bar. Were you using a harness too? - Still wouldn't work properly, just curious how you set it up! Honestly, stick to handles and learn to fly safely first. You don't need a bar. Buy some proper flying lines rather than making your own. One less thing to go wrong and they are pretty important especially if your intent on getting some air! Get 25m which is fairly normal. Kite Flying Lines Dyneema Power Kite Kiting Buggy Landboarding Kitesurf Surf Flysurf Kiteboarding Flexifoil Ozone Peter Lynn HQ Symphony Extreme 2-Line Dual Line 2-Line Four Line 25m 20m 27m 30m 40m Sleeving Kit Stacking Repair Tape Powerkiteshop Pow - Like powerkiteshop on facebook and there is a discount code somewhere. Sell that North bar and put the money towards some lines! Sounds like you need a better flying location. You need lots of open space for clean wind. Take a trip to a beach when the wind is blowing from the sea to the land. Where abouts are you? Do you have any local fliers that you could speak to for advice? Good luck!
  4. What type of kite was it? You say you fly a blade but also talking about a depower bar. Hopefully you don't have a depower bar on a fixed bridle! Do you know what you did wrong so you don't do it again?
  5. Sounds good to me! I haven't been for a while but it's a nice beach. It's not a weekend so it shouldn't be too busy. Looks like the wind is good. There's a section where it's allowed and a section where it isn't. You won't see the sand at all at high tide. It goes out far and comes in quickly. So either side of high tide you normally can't use it I think. Someone more local should be able to advise you better. Enjoy!

    PM'd you gordo...
  7. I've also just picked up a cheapo ebay board and boots. Boots a little snug but will do for messing about. I was wondering, shouldn't you centre the bindings / make them the same for both feet for kiting rather than create a 'duck stance'? That way you could travel left to right and right to left with similar comfort, same as a mountain board. That's what I was going to try anyway.
  8. Bargain... I'm tempted myself but don't need one! Just like em. Green. Good colour!

    Kite building

Awesome stuff and hopefully I'll get a chance to build another one soon. 10m sounds like a nice round number to me. Just read your mention from Peter Lynn himself, I must be asking the right person! Cheers for the help. I look forward to seeing the plans.

    Kite building

Hi BigE, been watching this thread every now and again. Good skills! I've got some questions.. Hope you don't mind. Apologies if these have already been answered somewhere in this thread. I'm after some tips on how you build your NPW's. I have helped build a 5m before with a friend who repairs paragliders. He taught me how to do it and I've got a bit handy with the sewing machine. The actual stitching all the bits together I'm fine with. I'd like to build a bigger one for some low wind fun / landboarding. I realise they don't have much lift (or can they?). What software do you use to calculate the plans? I think we used a bit of windows software called 'nasacalc'. You enter the length of one of the sections and it works the rest out for you. Can you recommend a good plan to follow and a good size or is this nasacalc ok? Apart from time, what would it cost to build a big sail? It cost me nothing before as it was all offcuts. Bridles, this bit we struggled with as couldn't find any nice material. We ended up using some normal kite line just fixed with knots. It would have been nice to splice them and stitch or glue or make them neater somehow. How do you do yours? How easy is it to build one bridled for a bar? Or is it best to use handles? Cheers, Paul
  11. Nice. Glad you bought it. It kept winking at me. Can I have a go?!
  12. Maybe they got bored of the small kite orders! 8.5mm is pretty skinny. The PL ones are 12mm I think and the Hampton ones are 11mm and a fair bit more flexible. I was trying to find someone who sells the Easton poles as that is what the PL ones are made from apparently. Can't find them in this country though. Can't remember if I tried here or not: Tent Pole Repairs :: Scottish Mountain Gear Let us know if you find a good alternative to Hamptons...
  13. I ordered from Hampton a few weeks ago with no problem. Did you email / speak to Simon in person? Are you asking for anodised ones? They don't do that on orders under £100. Just plain alloy. You can build proper carbon ones like the V1's had but I'm not sure on the cost. Should be lighter than the thick walled tent poles. You'd need 10mm and 9mm carbon rods and the ferrules to join them. I've replaced sections this way before. You can buy the bits from thehighwaymen or ebay. Instructions for building them here: The Peter Lynn ARC set-up FAQ (Search the page for 'spars'). Probably works out close to the cost of the PL alloy ones though.

    Bolts

Just remembered.. Check out seascrew off Seaside road. They sell stainless fixings for boats and stuff and are also handy for dyneema and other things.

    Bolts

They look to me like dome head hex bolts of the top of me head. Measure the length and width with a caliper to find the 'M' size then get on eBay.
