  1. GaRRy if God rides a Harley...and the Devil rides a Duke......then who the hell is riding all the Yamaha's????? The birds, they are in between , right ?
  2. results ?!? i would like to know the top 5 placers kite brands, im guessing a bit of vapor in there but any others ?
  3. i would agree with chinook, in the super low winds an 8m race kite or 15m depower is about it. in ultra low winds there is the 12m 14m and 17m Yak GTs too but in the right winds the Methods are great and have a large wind range so the larger sizes are well worth it.
  4. The forks broke under the fork yokes. Its hard to see but they looked even more amazing than that as they were foil shaped . The layup was at fault and that is the one part Gannet didn’t do. cost 350 pounds for this little experiment and s/s forks last forever and cost a fraction of that so it hasn’t been attempted again. We are all still working from a back yard budget so it was a costly, brilliant but flawed attempt. I wish we had a chance to do it again knowing what is known now and poor old gannet didnt have to risk another 700 NZD on it to find out, he made a great job of it.
  5. i used ZZr250 rims which seem to be cheaper with old racing slicks from bike racing that the racers couldnt use any longer. all front wheels obviously. im happy with them so far, more grip than any thing i have used in the past 5 years. 17" rims mind, not 19" , but 17" fits a std fork for my duro/kenda with some new spacers only needed.
  6. wait till you find how well it handles the gusts !! you actually have to fly another type of kite to even know its gusty sometimes A blade is more powerful in the same wind speed for sure, but when the gusts kick in you will be grinning and they will be wrapping around the trees.
  7. oop s forgot to mention ,it was gusts of 42 knots that day. Note the guy on the method 3.0 is considered an expert by me. 10 years paragliding and at least 8 in a buggy but one handed flying in nuking winds has to tell you a lot. 3m and 5m are a very good combo and have a huge wind range between them
  8. the 3.0 method was being flown right along side a 2.5 blurr and a 2.2 yakuza by an 80 kg guy with on hand behind his head. I find the blurr has more ziiip but the method is smoother , more stable and generally easier to fly all round. Good top speed from both but the method did win the drag race on the day. I think you should try both pref on the same day , but im selling my blurrs . I just have a nicer day with the methods, so far no obes or even close with a method. im getting a turbo bar to try with one in the next few months , i suspect they were made for each other note i also have race kites but i only use them on square on shore days at the beach and still enjoy them as well.
  9. the blurrs have the aoa adjuster , but i have found they really only work on one setting so that wouldn't be missed, the blurr has a turbo charger , but the method has progressive smooth build up. i have Never front tucked a method in the buggy (so far), the blurr does that a bit too often. the method is easier to fly and it sparks a lot of joy like the first time you flew, you can pretty well do anything with it and remain right side up. For gusty conditions it works really well and i tend to run one size up from what most have in the air. i would look at the 3m and 5m to try out but aim to try out at some point in more over powered conditions to see how much these ozones can handle once you have them dialed in which will take about 20 mins , we had the 3m out in 42 knots and my mate was flying one handed . depends on your skill level though obviously. your challenge will likely not come from flying the kite with a method, it will move to buggy tricks and other stuff as its very easy to use one of these.
  10. Ozone Yakuzza GT 17m for sale 500 pounds plus freight and its yours
  11. ironic lots of people are jumping with them in the video then eh ? i dont have a 6.5m but i have every other size and love them . super easy to use smooth and pretty fast, they just take longer to get to the top speed than a race kite would. so far we have done 80 kmph with the 3m and 60 kmph with the 5m but on a small beach . they seem really good for gusty spots so far.
  12. although you only really need one set of scales and 2 blocks the same height as the scales to get it pretty good. interesting thoughts on the balance though , maybe ill take my 3 buggies that are already well sorted and test those on scales and publish the results for you and the lads to check out. Im not racing over there so i have no problems sharing the true answer to this question , heheh
  13. My new foil carbon fibre rear axle for the high speed buggy, just had to do it , land yachts are so far ahead of us in some ways http://lh6.ggpht.com/_NiM3Z9VM-nA/TJAiIM41xBI/AAAAAAAACCE/sdDywPR2dZI/s128/Image0000.jpg the bug with the new high speed leading link, rock solid at 70 kmph and beyond... http://lh3.ggpht.com/_NiM3Z9VM-nA/TLJp4J5QZYI/AAAAAAAACGs/Hd_8JBwKbdo/s512/ozone102010_011.jpg carbon fibre leading link made by our one and only Gannet in NZ, broke the first one http://lh6.ggpht.com/_NiM3Z9VM-nA/TISZ7BAdNLI/AAAAAAAAB5o/_VR1uvw7aVY/s512/0002.JPG My fav new kite http://lh6.ggpht.com/_NiM3Z9VM-nA/TNsEkElWK9I/AAAAAAAACLU/OUvLEPLcVvs/s720/ozone102010_003.JPG and that is what I have been up to lately in NZ
  14. thats exactly how i balance all my buggies..... i am hard wired though so i can move the tow point independently of the seat i require no help.... i have an engine jacking point in the roof of the garage i attach to and a 500kg chain block which i can operate up and down by myself. it gets the buggy with in 100g of correct before even leaving for the beach but i have now made enough different buggies to get it very close before balancing. its not as crazy as it may sound to you lads although im sure a lot of you dont agree with our hard wire system.
  15. id say you would be doing 40 kmph at 45 degrees sliding angle while everyone else was unable to even move , actually a light buggy is a good asset in low winds because it gets up to speed in a flash .
  16. grey orange white, i thought it was a death wish to begin with too but surprisingly im still alive some pics below, its pretty mint it has been used but rarely, im thinking of replacing it with an 8.3 as i have a large gap between 6m and 12m GTS currently. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_NiM3Z9VM-nA/TM8xkMJ9JRI/AAAAAAAACJk/yoOH5tuiF1s/PA250033.JPG http://lh4.ggpht.com/_NiM3Z9VM-nA/TM8xnh1SwjI/AAAAAAAACJo/3iXsrRkeuEw/PA250034.JPG
  17. Hello All, I have a Yak GT 17m for sale currently, I have a 12m also and i mostly use that for the light stuff so im selling the 17m to make way for a couple of smaller Yaks to fill in the gaps in my quiver. Offers around 550 pounds p.s. The kite is in very nice condition , has the bag etc too. i would sell with out handles and lines unless you Really wanted some 40kmph in 3 knots and faster on snowy mountains It does save you from the frustration of driving hundreds of miles to be unable to buggy, also from being stuck in the middle of greenland with only 2 weeks food left. there are a few people on the forums who i have sold kit to who can vouch for my honesty and quality of kit.
  18. ok mate no problems, its one serious kite ok off to for sale i go....
  19. sold to wind jammer.... just kidding. 700 pounds might work though its basically new cond so it needs a bit more insentive to part company with me.

  22. yeah, when your flying the kite you cant see what ever your worried about. if you get one or not it will def have a following amoung buggy pilots and as it flys well on a bar landos might like it too. i just ordered the ones i didnt have to make a set , the first set i have ever had of any kite in 6 years of buggy use.
